I was just curious as to how they have manufactured it internally. They shouldn't call it a 1-1 re creation mind when it's clearly going to be another Analogue type FPGA product. Same but different lol

Yeah, this console is going to be super light. A tiny PCB in the middle with a bunch of empty plastic. Watch the goobs complain.

No. ASIC's based on the FPGA architecture. But I won't be surprised if there are more than a few cost-cutting shortcuts.

I'm in this to get essentially an alibaba neo geo that's got some semblance of official licensing on it, anyone expecting 1990 grade hardware will be disappointed. Their use of "1:1" marketing gimmicks is aesthetic only (and probably valid from 10 feet away). But it beats a $250 3D printed shell with an additional $200 MV-1C installed (well maybe...)

I think they did the right thing with the system. For people like us on this forum, who already have other ways to play Neo Geo on some kind of legit hardware (AES, MVS, CD), this is a cool thing to have and a good way to get "official" carts of extremely hard to get games that are probably better than more expensive bootlegs. To the casuals it's close enough to the real thing that they won't notice or care. They had to hit this price point or collectors like us wouldn't bother and casuals would balk and not buy it. They pretty much nailed the sweet spot.

If HDMI output is decent and the system doesn't have any sort of gross incompatibilities I predict people are just going to default to the AES+ naturally out of sheer convenience. You already need a CRT or good upscaler minimum to enjoy AES/MVS these days, and even that is a pain to deal with sometimes unless you have a dedicated goobroom(tm) with everything setup.

btw hardcore collector != hardcore gamer, its easier to find people showing off their Slug AES cartridges online than to find people showing off Slug 1ccs out of that same hardware. Second group actually cares about accuracy :)

I'll prob end up picking one up.down the line with a few games to try it out. The mister FPGA has replaced retro collecting for me in recent years but still always tempted to buy something like this

They are selling from a Shopify store. As someone who runs a Shopify based website I can tell you that order numbers bear little relation to the quantity of products sold. The first person to pre order didn’t get order no 1. Also order numbers are based on the whole store inventory not individual items so you can’t assume anything based on what your order number was.
