These rules... I'm guessing they don't apply to pies, judging by your photo?i have 10 systems and 100 games. there's a system where i have 20 games and another where i only have 1. it just averages out to 10 per system.
i don't believe you. you probably aren't even married.i do both every day.
"Official release homebrew", fucking lolz.
There's a lot of bullshit in this thread, so excuse me if someone else mentioned this, but Plaion is the company behind the Atari+ line and the recent Amiga re-releases, which are all well done.
Given the fact that the ESRB ratings in the OP are for individual games, I would guess this is a more a kin to the Atari+. The most interesting dynamic there is that Plaion has also coded new games for the platform like Tiger-Heli.
IF SNK were willing, as Atari is, they could also license homebrew for official release.
The Atari systems are difficult to play and get a decent picture with on modern TVs, even with upscalers since they are both RF only. That's what makes those systems good deals for the price, ease of use and most 2600 and 7800 games are cheap. I thought about getting one as I am old as fuck and have nostalgia for the 2600. None of those advantages carry over to the AES though, so I don't see the advantage to an AES+.There's a lot of bullshit in this thread, so excuse me if someone else mentioned this, but Plaion is the company behind the Atari+ line and the recent Amiga re-releases, which are all well done.

That plus the fact that Plaion hold the Zero Wing IP and we haven't heard of the Hoffman port for a while can lead to some pretty wild theories![]()

Yes, I guess I didn't word it well, that's why they (the plus systems) are worth buying because the original 2600 and 7800 have RF only so the plus versions make an easy way to play those games on modern TVs.The 2600+ and 7800+ both use HDMI.
That makes more sense. I'd say the likely advantage of the AES would be price. This thing can't be over $200.Yes, I guess I didn't word it well, that's why they (the plus systems) are worth buying because the original 2600 and 7800 have RF only so the plus versions make an easy way to play those games on modern TVs.
An AES is fairly easy to get a good picture out of, lots of upscalers options from the expensive to the cheap Retrotink 2x knock offs.
You know, you make a good point. I guess I had assumed the current iteration of Atari was putting the new 7800 cartridges out, but when I looked at my new 7800 games closely, they do say Plaion, Inc.There's a lot of bullshit in this thread, so excuse me if someone else mentioned this, but Plaion is the company behind the Atari+ line and the recent Amiga re-releases, which are all well done.

Plaion's consoles are not FPGA.So question to everyone here, if this thing came out and it was quality emulation (think FPGA and not Neo Geo X), was well made, looked like an AES, had quality upscaling through HDMI for modern TVs, and played original carts for let's say $200, would anyone here buy it? Maybe to save wear and tear on your original AES? I have MVS carts so it wouldn't be for me regardless. I wouldn't buy it over getting a real AES to get into home carts.

They'll still need to make it different enough from the previous emulation boxes that are still in shops (neo mini & arcade stick pro... +those recently released handhelds, and the evercade stuff).
Well, I guess?
I'm curious.
If it was a Mister basically in a high quality AES shell with ports for both OG and USB controllers, I'd certainly consider it.So question to everyone here, if this thing came out and it was quality emulation (think FPGA and not Neo Geo X), was well made, looked like an AES, had quality upscaling through HDMI for modern TVs, and played original carts for let's say $200, would anyone here buy it? I doubt it. The Evercade licensing is for a very specific audience. Capcom made a mini console and also licensed the same deviled eggs to Evercade, plug-n-play consoles, anyone that wanted them, etc. I think "SNK" is open to licensing/whoring these titles out to whomever will take them. This is another iteration IMHO. Market redundancy is not their problem, if someone wants to license these and give it a go, so be it.
Every single time something like this pops up, the Neo Geo Classic/Mini was a great example. We went off on how this or that would be cool....what did we get? Awful HDMI out, no clicky-stick, and Top Players Golf. Rinse, repeat. None of this shit is ever for the autists we have here. Its for people who make funny faces on YT thumbnails and keep their wife's head in a box. Also for the young'ins who think they are getting into "retro games"...god, just typing this reminds me of the rampant mental illness.
