Also, for anyone in the US or Europe that is interested in the Japanese inserts/artwork, I messaged Plaion’s customer service and they responded confirming Japanese inserts are only available in Japan (ie no reversible region inserts, etc). So right now if you want those, the only way to get them is through Amazon.jp

Unless @Shawn decides to stock them in the NeoStore :fedora:

And now for 6 months of debate and speculation!

According to this video…the inserts will be region reversible? He just says his source is twitter.

Even if so…cart stickers and manuals wouldn’t be…

I guess we’ll find out soon enough. :vik:

I’m usually a Japanese cart guy but since we have no idea how any of this stuff is actually going to turn out I ordered from Amazon US in case I need to return anything. Reversible inserts would definitely be nice though.

I do US carts for non-fighting games and Japanese carts for fighting games. So I ordered Metal Slug from US Amazon. I don't expect there to be reversible inserts.

Surprised any Japanese are excited about this considering it's cheap Chinese knockoffs. Where's the national pride?
They are still official SNK products. Lots of Japanese products are manufactured in China and other Asian countries, but they are still Japanese designed. It's just how the world works now. Would we all prefer having stuff physically made in Japan? Sure, but not gonna happen.

I suppose so. More like Plaion in partnership with SNK. Or SNK in partnership with Plaion. One of those.

Yea Same here. I like that amazon only charges when they ship as well. Amazon JP sells the Japanese Versions but you have to pay for shipping and import charges and I'm assuming returns aren't free.

Yodobashi Camera kicked off their promotion as well. Reception looks positive so far, but I see comments lamenting that the Ultimate set does not appear to be available.

The Ultimate set appears to be exclusive to Plaion. Has it been made available anywhere else?

I will be sticking with my official SNK Japanese manufactured products. All due respect to China, MBS and you people but these are inferior repro products.

And that's fine. If I already had a nice mint AES collection I would maybe do the same. But for most people that isn't possible, and arguably never was in many cases.

AES+ and its re-releases will be brand new and affordable, and that's very attractive to many people.

But, like anything else, it's not right for everyone.

Question, but all these talks about limited ultimate sets and stuff, but is there anything really interesting from this version apart from the discount obtained from buying everything at once and a funny shaped box? Isn’t any accessory or game bundled available for separate purchase?

I’m reading a lot of fuss about this around but cannot really understand why? Ffs don’t we all already have our original copies of MOTW, Magician Lord and…Over Top? :kekeke:

I was originally going to buy the system separately with 5 games on amazon.co.jp but then I found out there's an importer bringing the Ultimate here, and that was pretty much the logic behind it. The base system + all accessories + all games in a pretty good price point, there's some goobery like I think serial numbers but who cares really. It's the same logic behind buying the white version for the extra wireless controller and metal slug, lol.

btw I didn't notice Amazon JP blocks refund requests for some products and the regular system is one of them so now I'll have two of these stupid things in november, gotta find another goober to sell the extra system to, maybe I can also get rid of my AES copy of riding hero in the process. :keke:

Sure, if you do already own original copies of the games it's harder to justify.

For people like me who currently own no AES stuff at all, it is a pretty good deal. If you add up the total MSRP value of the individual hardware if bought separately, it works out to about $565, so with the $1000 Ultimate bundle you end up basically paying a bit less than $54 per game, instead of $90.

Plus you get the branded shelf organizer accessory which appears to be exclusive to the bundle, and apparently the Ultimates are limited and individually numbered, so more likely to hold value if that matters.
