Disappointing. But, understandable.

Is there anyway of carrying on and only sharing the files to pre-approved people? Perhaps the mods can create a development forum that is strictly members only with pre-approved access?

Just suggestions.

Well... I've read some bullshit in my time on this forum but the bollocks written by projectretrogames has got to be up there with the worst of it.

"exclusive" "limited to 30 copies" - What. The. Actual. Fuck? Seriously?

Guy has been huffing too much smoke from rain forest clearance, clearly.
Genuine bootlegs!

At this point, I'm putting my NeoGeo CD porting project on hold.
Completely understandable. I knew that projectretrogames had to be lying about "the developer sharing" ports. Wifey and I extend our thanks to you. We have a great time playing through your ports.

You can’t be surprised but I was pissed for you when I was watching the video which is why I felt compelled to comment. The response was surprising to see and knew it was BS.

I checked out the video and the shilling by Neo Ness is laughable. Thought that he was above that type of thing. Projectretrogames is blatantly lying about working with IQ and getting called out for it.

I understand your position.

Have you considered doing the opposite? Adding sound to ROMs converted from CD to AES, like Zintrick, Final Romance 2, or Crossed Swords 2 and maybe some other homebrew ?

I don't know why anyone who does this sort of work for free, releasing it to the community like a fart in the wind and then gets weird when people are making money by selling it. Did you really not expect that to occur? shame on you for your lack of foresight.

Hello, my friends. How are you? I'd like to report a bug in the game Shinobi. When using a Neo Geo CDZ with a burned disc, part of the foreground scenery doesn't appear in the second stage. Is there any way to fix this issue?

Yes. Stop using burned discs and buy legit copies from eBay Brazil.

Apparently the item was removed, and I may be wrong, but I believe the person responsible for the store is Brazilian.
It's always Brazilians in the "ROM hacking" scene. We're constantly having problems with them in the SNES MSU1 scene, stealing credit for other peoples work, then rehosting it and trying to make money off of it by asking for donations.

I've got a problem with you and this "scene" chief!

Here's my port of Atari's Food Fight (Arcade) to NeoGeo AES/MVS/CD

This has been tested on MVS and CD hardware and seems to work OK.
There are known issues are in the Read Me!.txt
You will need to supply the original Food Fight roms to build the roms for the port (instructions, again, in the read me).

The package is available on my Patreon.

Great work, iq! One of my personal favorite Neo Geo games.

Edit: Just read the post on your patreon. I'm really shocked how much effort you're now putting into these conversions! I never thought this would be possible.

Happy Halloween!
I have released a conversion for Ghostlop MVS to CD.
More details can be found on my Patreon.

Thanks again to @NeoSeeD for testing!

As always, thanks for letting us test the game. We really enjoyed it. I just read your post regarding the conversion and the run-length encoding bit was a genius move. It makes me wonder if SNK had tools like this available and avoided using them to boast large meg counts.

@iq_132 Now that’s a real lesson! 👏
Congratulations on the tools — they’re amazing!

Regarding the previous games, is there anything that could be improved to make them more fluid?
Another interesting question: for the original Neo Geo CD games, would it be possible to use this tool to optimize loading times?
For example, Last Blade 2 was definitely poorly programmed for the Neo Geo CD.

Also, another title in the same style that would make a great future release is Bubble Bobble 2. 🎮

You are the master of the Neo Geo CD! 👑💿

Fascinating post on how there is so much redundancy within the programming of some of these games. Thank you for porting Ghostlop, look forward to playing it soon on real hardware soon!

Thank you! Spin Master is still probably the game that took the longest and most effort. Absolutely a massive undertaking.
Anyways, looking forward to seeing a Ghostlop vid on your channel someday. It's absolutely heartbreaking that your NeoGeo videos don't get the attention and love they deserve.

Of course! Thanks again for testing. They do have an RLE built into the BIOS software, but I don't think it compresses anywhere near as well as my implementation and it was only used for one game. You can read about it and it's limitations here:

I think for most games on the hardware, they probably did the best they could. The biggest issue is just that there isn't enough space to hold everything, optimized or not.
I just did a quick write-up on my Patreon about one "loading time offender" I found.

The sprites were hand drawn and probably manually arranged into the rom data. Running my duplicate tile-removal tool takes about a minute on my AMD 5700X at 3.4ghz. I can't even imagine trying to run an automated tool to do this back in 1990 on a 25mhz 486 or even having enough RAM in the machine to accommodate more than one copy of the data. That being said ,they would probably spent the time to come up with something more elegant than my brute force method.
