I think it's time to start a discussion about the past, present and future of this place. We came a long way, 26 years is something for an oldschool forum about a game system that is getting pushed back into the spotlight just now. This will bring in new people and a lot of old faces have returned, I really love it and hope it's not too short-lived. The past few weeks really felt a bit like the old days.

Will SNK/Plaion/whoever is boss atm pull an Atariage on us? What has Shawn got to say? Are we alone in the universe? Will Pepsi ever taste good again?

I think, it might be appropriate to make the place a little bit more n00b friendly.

I personally think it’s time to drop the 50 post requirement or whatever it is from the marketplace. Experienced sellers will decide who they sell to anyway - I’d always prioritise a regular poster over some 0 post ghost account. The marketplace is already on life support as it is.

Maybe we have a new AES+ section of the forum, and… controversial I know but maybe have that a bit more of a safe place / less hazing / more moderation as being called a fagit or whatever for asking a simple question probably won’t encourage newer members to stick around. If they stray out of the safe zone AES+ section - expect the full Neo-Geo.com experience and that’s on them.

I think the main page news section could really do with something about the Plaion announcement as well.

I’d be really curious if behind the scenes there’s any interaction between Plaion and the forum given @Shawn ’s history with SNK USA. I’d love to support the Neo Store again - there’s a real opportunity to sell both the JPN and USA carts worldwide as it’s a pain to get these to some locations is what I’m hearing. E.g. @Nostromo in Malta. Or ordering from Amazon JP was a ballache for me as my usual credit card just wouldn’t do it.

If OGs haze in the safe zone then they get a warning. If they ignore the warning, they only get read access to the AES+ forum not post access. Seems kinda fair to me.

I don’t have any ideas on how to stop retard members being retards though. Therapy?

On a more serious note, rot and tak used to moderate chat quite effectively, which gave noobs somewhere to talk back in the day. It was a decent intro to how life was going to be on the forums - specifically, you had to expect to eat shit for years, and were told as such.

I suggest making joe8 chat mod.

I don't think changing the post count on the marketplace is a good idea at all, I think that should remain in place. We want people who can contribute to the site and community, not people who see this place as an alternative to FB Marketplace.
