NeoSD Pro No Longer Working

Hey everyone,

I bought my NeoSD Pro directly from TerraOnion back in December of 2019. It has always worked great, up until recently. When I try to boot it on my AES (Pow-3, NEO-0) I just get a blank white screen. I've tried all my official Neo Geo carts and they work perfectly with my console. I was told by someone that maybe my power supply is to blame, so I even bought a new PSU, rated exactly for the voltage my console requires, and still nothing, white screen.

Which power supply did you end up getting?

Did you try removing the SD card and booting without or replacing the SD card?

Buy a Hamgeek MiSTer from Aliexpress.

I already have a MiSTer Multisystem that I always use, usually my main way to play Neo Geo games as well, but I like to play on my original consoles also.

Yes, I tried booting without the MicroSD card and tried using other cards but same result. Screen flashes green for a second, and then just blank white.

Have you tried putting a reset.cfg in the root of the SD card, per the manual? To factory reset it.

Yes, bought this one from digikey.

Try it in another console. Could also be a dirty power jack or capacitor issue. The NeoSD Pro can be picky when it comes to voltage whereas original carts are unaffected. New PSU was a good start. Or maybe the cart has a problem, needs reset, etc.

EDIT: Only fixed the main menu loading up, games are booted up all messed up still.

Yes, as I stated in my original post with video evidence, all my original AES carts work perfectly with no graphical glitches.

Looks to me like the part of the internal flash that stores background tiles (C ROM) has gone bad so the graphics are corrupted after being flashed. Does this happen with every flash slot? Does this happen with the RAM slot as well?

Try formatting the sd card, adding the games again and see what happens. Also, do you have another Neo to try the NeoSd on?

UPDATE: Cart works perfectly fine on my other AES. It's the same spec as my other one, Pow-3, Japan, RGB bypass, only difference is it doesn't have the UniBIOS installed. Very strange, I guess my console is to blame? Yet all other carts are fine on it.

I had a similar issue with the NeoSd. Worked fine on one console and had scaling issues with another. The Pro worked fine on that console though. I tried the the more powerful 4 amp power adapters and that didnt fix the issue. Shit is weird. At the time I had like 8 other neo consoles so it didn't bother me much. Your Neo might need a recap.

I would send Todd a message and ask him if he has another firmware you could try. It might fix the graphics issue.
