A new DarkStalkers game was just announced during Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken Comic-Con 2011 panel. Details surrounding the game are very slim; we don't know any projected release date or system availability, only that the fighting game series isn't dead and Capcom is working on another one. Cool!

Hmm...

I'm almost excited. We all know it will be on the SF4 engine, which I am not a fan of to say the least.

I really like Darkstakers but honestly I think I'd be more excited if they just release one of the Vampire Saviours games on PSN/XBL with online play.

Even if it plays well I just don't think the atmosphere of the series can be pulled off properly on the new engine.

Beggars can't be choosers though. I'm sure I'll have fun with it even if it's only short lived.

Edit: Clicked on the link and now they are saying no new game in the series.

Shrug

I'm guessing this will look and play like SF4 so it can fuck off.

I'd love for capcom to make this look dark and with serious tones but i kinda doubt it.

SFIV engine doesn't mean it will look like or play like SFIV, I imagine it won't look completely unlike SFIV if it's the same team... but it's not like the SFIV engine can only handle one shading style and one art style. The gameplay wouldn't be street fighter IV for sure.

I would bet that darkstalker's is based on the street fighter alpha engine or vice versa, why develop it from the ground up when you have a solid foundation to edit and build off of.

Don't get your hopes up...it's actually gonna be a card battle game on the DS.

Have you ever played Darkstalkers? You should try it; it's a fun series.

I just don't want stupid bulging eyes and gaping jaws every time i do a super move. I'm not asking a lot.

SNK got Demitri right.

From what I've read, that press event went something like this:

The Capcom dude was like "Hey, remember last year when I asked you to hold up a $1 bill if you want a new Darkstalkers? I showed that to Capcom and they said no way. This year, hold up a $10 bill." So everyone did. His point was that Capcom just aren't going to go for it. That site basically took a "we're not making it" comment as an official announcement. Tards.
