One day it'll be an alien starship and then we can all get naked with the aliens, solving the existential crisis of the universe.

@TheJiggler Cheers, mate. VBs on me.

"We Fucking Did It.
Australia is no longer a space industry virgin.

Sure, she only lasted 14 seconds but by god, she lifted off.
The Eris rocket is officially the first Aussie-made, Aussie-launched orbital rocket to leave home soil.
Congrats to our good friends at Gilmour Space Technologies.

Did it reach orbit? Nah.
Did it fly straight? Not quite.
But did it take off in true Aussie fashion, tip sideways, and go down swinging?

Bloody oath it did
💪🏼

It’s not a failure. It’s a rite of passage.
Like your first time reversing a trailer, you’re not supposed to nail it first go.

Eris-1 had one job:
Get off the pad
✅

Show the world we’re havin’ a crack
✅

Prove we can burn a few million dollars in under 20 seconds
✅
✅
✅

Australia’s in the space race, mate.
No turning back now.

To everyone who said Australia couldn't do it...
Suck my ass forever."

Probably America's greatest astronaut has died.

Of everyone that didn't, he definitely deserved to step on the moon at least once.

Legendary man. I just so happen to be rewatching For All Mankind again right now (with the commentary on this time).

Every man who has been to the moon will be dead before another human lands on her surface. That makes me melancholic.

Rest in peace, Jim Lovell. You absolute legend.

To think if nixon hadn't fucked it all up we'd be spending a weekend at the Lunar Hilton sipping a space whiskey in an earth view suite.
Yep. Nixon DOGE'd Apollo 18-20 and the momentum just came to a halt. They're now saying 2040s for Mars.

Successful Starship test today with a controlled 'landing' into the ocean.

Since they're all still live links I can't embed the video.

Artemis II with some America 250 bisesquicentennial livery rolled out to Launchpad 39B on Saturday and didn't tip over. Assuming the wet dress rehearsal, which is supposed to be right around the end of the month, goes well, the first launch window opens February 6th for 5 days.

I am at least taking the youngest kid and heading down and hoping to see the launch, trying to get the whole family going but that has some more moving pieces.

Fuck yeah, lithy. Do it. That is a righteous mission. Luck to you getting the whole family together.

Artemis II launch postponed until the March 6-11 window due to excessive liquid hydrogen leaks while fueling the core stage during the wet dress rehearsal last night.

They had the same problems but worse during Artemis I (and as I understand it, leaking hydrogen has been an issue on at least the Shuttle and Apollo as well). They developed some ways to mitigate it and got the rocket fueled reasonably quickly compared to several long delays trying to fill Artemis I but I guess it's still outside their desired range for leaking.

So our trip is scrubbed as well and we will reorganize for a possible March attempt. We hadn't booked anything yet, so no big deal.

I don't know yet if they will roll it back to the VAB or if it will stay on the pad until then. There are batteries associated with the LAS (launchpad abort system that can eject the capsule away from the rocket in the event of an issue too low to the ground) that are good for I think somewhere around a month but I don't remember how long.

Imagine how the astronauts must feel. Blue balls we could never dream of.

Seals replaced on Artemis II last week, they did a brief tanking test and found some slow flow rates. So then they also replaced a filter for the liquid hydrogen.

Full tanking and dress rehearsal starts again Wednesday, concludes on Thursday. March 3rd was briefly added as a possible launch date but has been dropped again so back to no earlier than March 6.

If we're lucky it won't explode on liftoff.
