No gear pics to share, but my kid wants a Looper pedal for Christmas. Been researching a bit but not sure which features are worth getting beyond basic functionality. Probably going with a Boss rc-5 because it can easily transfer loops to/from ableton, which the starter pedals can't, but does anyone have any other suggestions?

Go with the Boss. Im actually using a $40 chinesium piece of shit because i didnt know whether i would get any real use out of a looper. Now that i have tried one out i cant imagine being without one and plan to upgrade to a Boss one soon.

Boss RC-5 is a great pedal. I had one, and only sold it because I wasn't playing plugged in anymore.

Beautiful P, I love that color too, kind of looks like a sea foam green in that lighting.
I picked up a G&L P-bass a few years back and it always sounds great in the mix, regardless of the type of gig.

I think I heard G&L is no more as of the end of 2025?
Also yeah, its like a sea foam ultra sparkle. Its interesting because i have color vision deficiency. In some light sources it just looks like straight silver sparkle, in others (and in photos) you can really see the sea foam.

Tbh, I didnt even know what that was. Most of my gear knowledge is antiquated. But it looks pretty dang sweet. Maybe I'll get one too.

Heres my practice amp. Extremely nice for what it is. Practice amps have really come a long way in the last decade… or at least this one. Lol phil jones nanobass. Fits under our couch.

What did you think of the LTD EC-1000? I noodled around with this one over the weekend…
It has the Seymour pickups even though the listing says EMG. The neck was a lot thinner than my Strat, which I liked. A lot lighter than the LP also.

What a lovely thread.
Unlike most of you I only started Guitar fairly recently - about 15 months ago. Practicing maybe 20 minutes 3 times a week when I'm not too tired from work. I started on JustinGuitar App, then moved over to the Gibson Learn & Master Guitar DVD course which is a bit more music theory heavy which is good as as I can now read music (slowly at least). Then about 2 months ago I started paying for professional or whatever you call them lessons from a local guy who used to be a semi-successful band. He's brilliant, but I probably will only stay with him for another month or so as I'm happy learning on my own but I needed a bit of course correction / tidying up my bad habits. He's currently got me playing REM Everybody Hurts in Fingerstyle which is a new technique for me to wrap my head around.
I'd say I'm mostly competent with your cowboy chords in open position but I've got a lot more still to learn. Fuck the full bare F chord btw. I can play it but not switch to it at speed yet. I'll get there, I probably need to up my practice time.
I've also just recently started reading 'Guitar Zero' which is about a 38 year old guy with no musical talent trying to learn Guitar in one year. I've not finished it yet but alot of it is about him finding the right way to 'learn' as a more mature student of guitar shall we say. It's interesting, and also good for me to measure myself against someone else in similar shoes and learn from the similar sort of pitfalls he's got into.

Rathbone Acoustic Cutaway - I play this chinese piece of shit guitar the most as I like being able to just grab it and jam without plugging anything in. Acoustic is also a bit harder for a newbie to play which is good news for me as when I switch to electric everything just feels so much lighter and easier due to the lower tension and thinner strings.
Bill Lawrence Esquire - I bought this Japanese Esquire because it's a beautiful shade of blue and also it has a tremolo arm which you just don't see in a Tele shape very often. It's good fun for goobing about with.
Fender Telecaster Mexican - Christmas present from my wife when I first started playing guitar over a year ago. I probably play this one the least as I'm not really a country guitarist but it sounds very clean and twangy and is clearly a great Tele.
Larry Clarton S5 - These got very good reviews so I picked this one up second hand very recently to see what the fuss was about - infact it just arrived by post past week. I've not had enough time to bond with it yet but for a budget indonesian guitar it feels very well put together. At least on par with my Mexican Fender or maybe even slightly better. The humbucker HSS setup I kinda dig.
Greco Supersound Strat - Ah. This Japanese Guitar from 1976 I got cheap in a terrible state from a pawn shop. A clean, rewire, and professional setup later and according to my local guitar shop tech it 'plays just like my Fender from the 70s'. Greco are like an early FGN factory, it's an amazing instrument and wasted on my talent level. But a snip in cost compared to a Fender of this era.
I play the electrics through a Marshall DSL1CR 1 watt tube amp which sounds lovely and is plenty loud enough for home practise, although it wouldn't gig too well due to the low power output. I have no pedals as right now with my skill level it would be a bit pointless.

I really liked mine. It was the Deluxe version with the glossy black and abalone binding, with gold trim and EMG actives. It was definitely lighter than your average Paul, but mine is a Special double cut so its already pretty light. Id say the EC was heavier than that one, but again - its a lighter Paul anyway.
Heres a pic of the guitar (not mine specifically but the same model) I got off some post on reddit. It had an official ESP 'candybar' case with it, but I sold the case to a friend since i had a spare Les Paul style case to put it in at the time.
I prefer the thin necks as well, so I was a fan. I didnt want to sell it but it wasn't getting any use since I wasnt actively playing anywhere so it had to go. Otherwise I'd have kept it. That one and my Les Paul special were perfect for me. I do like that matte black version though, of the same guitar. Its very nice.

Yep. About 20 years ago I got a faded brown Gibson SG for like $500 iirc. Then replaced the pickups and added a trem//tailpiece.
