I just got a email from Nintendo about the queue.

---

On behalf of the My Nintendo Store team, thank you for registering your interest to purchase the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system from Nintendo.

We wanted to let you know that you’re still in the queue to purchase, and to share with you a handful of updates on what to expect.

What happens now

There’s nothing you need to do right now.

The first invitations to purchase through the My Nintendo Store have begun going out. Invitations will continue to go out periodically until all eligible registrants receive an opportunity to purchase (as they become available). Due to a high number of registrations, we can’t provide exact timing on when you can expect to receive your invitation.

When it’s your turn, we'll send you an email inviting you to shop.

If you pre-order or purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from a retailer and later receive an invitation to purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from My Nintendo Store, you are not required to purchase the system from My Nintendo Store.

When to expect your invitation

We do have a lot of registrations and apologize that we can’t provide exact timing. Rest assured that we’ll continue sending invitations past the system’s launch date.

How to spot your invitation

  • The invitation will come from no-reply@noa.nintendo.com. Please be sure to add this email address to your safe sender list and check your inbox’s Junk, Spam, or Promotions folder.
  • The invitation email will be from “Nintendo.”
  • The subject line will include “It’s your time to purchase” as well as your choice of system you selected when registering.

One thing to note: Once you receive the invitation email, you’ll have 72 hours to complete your purchase from when you receive the email, so be ready to act quickly!

"It makes other console makers, like PlayStation, which won't put in the effort to emulate PS3 games, look bad for not doing more."

"Nintendo actually recompiled the game's CPU instructions for the Switch to use its native Arm instruction set."

I ended up getting the invite from Nintendo as did all my friends. It was last week. You only have a few days to decide. Limited in what you can purchase as well.

$140 if you want another set of joycons and the battery attachment. I dont mind the console price, but I'm not spending $100 for a controller.

He got the exclusive invite for a childs mario kart machine. He didn't want to pay the extra for a controller however - sir he only had a *few days* to decide

Ok, I'll tell them to go defcon 3, hold off on the launch.

Could this be thanks in part to the increased supply Nintendo has promised due to its partnership with Samsung, or is the launch date perhaps too early to see any impact from that? June 5 is only like a week away now.

It was literally just a statement about the ordering process. My only complaint is $140 for a controller.
Either way, I'll have my $500 Mario Kart machine that I'll play for a few cups and never touch again.

That this bothers other people makes me want to kill myself.

Ok, maybe not but it did fill me with the urge to simply get offline and go be outside, literally touch grass.
There are people dying, there are real problems in the world. Be thankful for your health. But sure, the banners and text on these covers are bad, lol.

This seems like stupid reactionary 'hate' about 'Nintendo fans'.

Humans have a long history with aesthetics. Goobs on this very website have had plenty of discussion around English vs Japanese home carts as a quick example.

That it bothers people shouldn't be surprising. It's ugly. Should they be venting their complaints to Twitter for attention? Maybe not.

And maybe Nintendo is showing their lack of shits given in the design layout of their product that your 'physical' copy is not so different than a piece of paper with 20 digit alphanumeric string on it for permission to download.

Maybe that shouldn't be surprising. But it can be disappointing.
