Raja Jackson, son of MMA legend 'Rampage,' appears to brutally assault pro wrestler in disturbing video
Raja Jackson, the son of former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, appeared to brutally assault a professional wrestler at an independent wrestling event in California on Saturday.
The disturbing scene was captured live on streaming platform Kick. In the video, Jackson can be seen entering the ring at a Knokx Pro Wrestling event, hoisting independent wrestler Stuart Smith — aka Syko Stu — above his head, then slamming him onto the mat hard. Jackson then mounts the already seemingly unconscious wrestler and unloads more than 20 unanswered punches to his head before being forcibly ripped away by a swarm of other wrestlers.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported Saturday night that the spot between Jackson and Smith was planned however the onslaught of seemingly legitimate punches and the damage Smith suffered was not expected. Smith was reportedly "rushed to the hospital with serious injuries" following the incident.
Jackson, 25, has experience as a professional MMA fighter. The son of MMA royalty, Jackson compiled a 4-0 record on the sport's amateur scene before turning pro in 2023 and losing his professional lightweight debut in a unanimous decision against Steve Collins at United Fight League 3.
Jackson's father, former UFC champ Quinton Jackson, posted a statement late Saturday night claiming that Smith was now "awake and stable," although Smith's present health status has yet to be confirmed. AEW Forbidden Door PPV Results: 8-24-25

(1) ADAM COPELAND & CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. KILLSWITCH & KIP SABIAN (w/Mother Wayne)
Excalibur said they’re about to find out if remnants of the old Christian Cage still exists. Fans chanted “Luchasaurus” early. The commentators said it felt like a lifetime ago he was known as that. Schiavone noted they hadn’t seen Killswitch since All In last year in the U.K. Killswitch chokeslammed Copeland on the ring apron. The announcers noted that Sabian seemed to be disrespectful toward Killswitch throughout the match.
Christian leaped off the top rope onto Killswitch at ringside. Copeland speared Killswithc off the ring apron. When Christian went for a spear on Sabian, Sabian kicked him. Copeland intervened on a Sabian move on Christian and speared him out of mid-air leading to the win. Schiavone said, “In the end, it was teamwork.” Excalibur said it was the first win for Christian and Copeland as a team in more than a decade.
WINNERS: Christian & Copeland.
(A good choice for the PPV opener. Christian and Copeland continued to play up the uneasy alliance aspect of their dynamic effectively, and the announcers really leaned into Killswitch being treated abusively or disrespectfully by Sabian.)
(2) KYLE FLETCHER (w/Don Callis) vs. HIROMU TAKAHASHI – AEW TNT Title match
The bell rang 31 minutes into the hour. Danielson said Fletcher is “without a doubt a future AEW World Champion.” He said he’s put on size and strength, but hasn’t lost any speed. Callis said he oversees Fletcher’s training and they hire the best. Callis said he likes his men to be tall and well bred and other comments with intentional homoerotic subtext. Excalibur noted that AEW will return to Australia on Feb. 14 in Brisbane for “Grand Slam.”
Fletcher landed a Protostar Driver at 7:00 for a near fall. Fletcher stood with a look of confidence, then bodyslammed Takahashi. He took his time climbing to the top rope. Takahashi recovered and got up and knocked Fletcher off balance. Fletcher countered with a turning back suplex off the second rope for a two count. He followed with a sitout powerbomb for a two count.
Takahashi rallied a couple minutes later after a battle on the ring apron that led to a sunset bomb off the apron to the floor. He landed a clothesline in the ring and scored a near fall. Fletcher came up grabbing his shooulder. Takahashi and Fletcher exchanged strikes mid-ring. Takakashi went on a rally and scored some near falls.
Fletcher landed a tombstone piledriver. He followed with a running kick in the corner. When he went for a brainbuster, Takahashi countered and scored a two count. Fletcher then hit the brainbuster quickly for a clean three count.
WINNER: Fletcher in 14:00 to retain the TNT Title.
(A good showcase match for Fletcher that played into the Forbidden Door theme.)
(3) MERCEDES MONE vs. ALEX WINDSOR vs. PERSEPHONE vs. BOZILLA – AEW TBS Title match
A video package narrated by Renee Paquette set the stage for the match and provided background on Bozilla and Persephone. The bell rang 54 minutes into the hour. Excalibur said the match ends and the title can change with the first pinfall of submission. Back and forth constant action in the arena minutes. At 5:00 all four went into a series of near falls and reversals. Bozilla took control. Danielson said all three focused on her early, so this was her comeback. Winsdor landed a tower superplex out of the corner. All four were down and slow to get. the crowd popped and chanted afterward.
Danielson said Bozilla reminded him of Vader. Mercedes looked panicked after Bozilla nearly scored a pin on Persephone. Mercedes reversed a Bozilla Bomb and scored a near fall at 12:00. Windsor then gave Mercedes a Fisherman’s Buster. Excalibur said it was anyone’s match. Bozilla gave Windsor a German suplex.
Persephone gave a Razor’s Edge to Bozilla out of teh corner. Windsor then scored a near fall on Persephone. She applied a sharpshoote rnext, but Mercedes broke it up with a lung blocker. Persephone then went for a Razor’s Edge, but Mercedes countered into a roll-up for a three count.
WINNER: Mercedes in 16:00 to retain the TBS Title.
(A real banger of a women’s match.)
(4) ZACK SABRE JR. vs. NIGEL MCGUINESS (w/Daniel Garcia) – IWGP Heavyweight Title match
A video package set the stage for the match with soundbites from Nigel. Walker Stewart joined Schiavone on commentary. Nigel came out to Oasis. Excalibur noted that Oasis is experiencing a resurgence around the world. Fans chanted “Holy shit” when they squared off.
Danielson said he appreciates that ZSJ works on a variety parts and then then gets a sense of which one to focus on over time. ZSJ eventually countered a stack pin fora three count. Nigel raised ZSJ’s arm afterward. Garcia then entered the ring and gave Nigel a conciliatory hug.
WINNER: Zack Sabre Jr.
(5) HURT SYNDICATE (Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood w/Stokely Hathaway) vs. BRODIDO (Brody King & Bandido) – AEW Tag Team Title match
The bell rang 45 minutes into the second hour. They all took turns pairing off and battling. Eventually Lashley and Bandido paired off. Bandido dove through the ropes and tackled Lashley at ringside. Lashley took over with power moves back in the ring. Lashley threw Bandido to ringside and tossed him around.
Brody tagged in and went after Dax and scored a near fall. Lashley and Brody had a face-off mid-ring which generated a buzz from the crowd. Brody and Cash worked together to give Lashley a Shatter Machine. Brodido then chopped Cash in the chest. Cash leaped through the ropes and Lashley and Shelton caught him. Bandido then leaped onto them. Bandido then gave lifted Dax on the top rope and flipped backwards onto the crowd at ringside at 14:00.
When the dust settled, Lashley threw Brody into the ring. Shelton went on the attack. Lashley tagged quickly and speared him. Three wrestlers in hoods attacked Shelton and Lashley. They were revealed as Ricochet and Gates of Agony. They brawled to the back and didn’t return.
When Dax swung a chair at Bandido, Bandido kicked the chair out of his hands. Brody punched Cash out of mid-air. Dax hit Brody in the head with a chair. (We’re STILL doing that?!?) When Brody kicked out, Dax threw a fit and complained to the ref.
FTR set up a superplex off the top rope. Bandido landed a top rope splash on Dax and scored a three count when Cash was just a second too late to make the save. The timing was awkward and off including the ref stopping his count and then restarting it.
WINNERS: Brodido in 16:00 to capture the AEW Tag Team Titles.
(As lame as it is that Lashley & Benjamin weren’t involved in the finish, I’m all for Brodido getting the win here. It sends a message loud and clear that Tony Khan has picked up on their momentum and early standout performances and connections with fans.)
(6) KAZUCHIKA OKADA vs. SWERVE STRICKLAND (w/Prince Nana) – AEW Unified Title match
Jim Ross joined in on commentary. Callis was already on commentary. The bell rang 8 minutes into the third hour. Swerve took. early control. He showboated at 4:00. Okada catapulted a charging Swerve over the top rope to ringside. He followed with a slidekick to his face. “Good god almightly!” said Ross after DDT’d Swerve on the ringside steps at 7:00. Okada continued the attack in the ring.
Swerve landed a suplex off the second rope. When Swerve leaped off the second rope, Okada avoided him and then Swerve sold landing awkwardly on his knee. Okada took over in the ring. Swerve countered with a House Call. Both were down and slow to get up. Swerve got up and landed a short-arm clothesline.
Okada ducked a leaping House Call and then hit a House Call for the clean win.
WINNER: Okada in 17:00 to retain the AEW Unified Title.
-Afterward, Okada yanked on Swerve’s leg and jammed his leg between the ringpost and ringside steps. He then smashed a chair against the stairs. Nana ran out with a pipe. Okada backed away. Callis left with Okada. Excalibur said the damage was already done. As Nana checked on Swerve in the ring, Wardlow made his return. He clotheslined Nana. Danielson said, “I haven’t seen Wardlow in… how long? Over a year.” He pounded away at Nana. The announcers wondered if he was the “insurance policy” Callis had talked about. Wardlow then attacked security guys unprovoked (which, of course, will be blown off without any ramifications because that’s just what is done these days – excessively). Callis and Wardlow hugged in the aisle. Wardlow then hugged a smugly elated Okada. Other Callis Family members joined them. Konsuke Takaeshita then made his way down the aisle. He eyed Wardlow as the announcers talked about his G1 win.
(I like the fresh presentation of Wardlow in the Callis Family instead of back with MJF in any way. Callis’s alliance with Wardlow could lead to an eventual babyface turn for either Okada or Takeshita and set up new feuds for them. Warlow vs. Swerve is a good next feud for Swerve. This is basically a chance to see what Wardlow is made of in terms of his personality and charisma, plus develo[ a ring style that isn’t just relying on his size and power advantage in a rudimentary way. Glad to see a clean win for Okada here. There’s no harm in losing to Okada, especially with Swerve making it clear heading in that he wasn’t at 100 percent. The match was in the range of what you’d expect with these two at this point including where it was on the card.)

(7) TONI STORM vs. ATHENA – AEW Women’s Title match
The bell rang 35 minutes into the third hour. Athena took control a minute in. She rammed Storm’s head into the ringpost several times. She yelled “Off with her head!” as she went for an axe kick. Storm avoided it and tried to take over. Athena sent Storm into the middle turnbuckle to thwart her comeback. Athena did a celebration dance and mocked Storm before charging at her. Storm recovered and took over. She scored a two count with a fisherman’s suplex. Danielson said Athena is wrestling the match like she doesn’t respect Storm. He said that was a mistake. Schiavone said Athena has said she believes Storm is overrated.
Storm and Athena exchanged strikes mid-ring. Athena ducked a kick and then took Storm down for a near fall. Danielson noted Athena stopped playing around and knew she was in a fight. Athena slammed Storm to the mat and rolled into a Koji clutch variation submission hold mid-ring. “She’s taking Storm to school,” said Danielson. Storm escaped and applied a chicken wing, but Athena threw her out of the ring to break it right away. She then dove through the ropes and tackled Storm at ringside.
Storm reversed Athena into the ringside barricade. Danielson said Strom needed that. Back in the ring she headbutted Athena and delivered a Storm Zero for a two count at 14:00. Billy Starkz attacked Storm. Mina Shirkawa ran out and chased her to the back with a chair in hand. Storm and Athena exchanged two counts in small packages. Storm then applied a chicken wing mid-ring and Athena tapped out.
WINNER: Storm in 16:00 to retain the AEW Women’s Title.
(A good match with the personalities of each playing into the dynamic throughout.)
(8) “HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE vs. MJF – AEW World Title match
The bell rang 58 minutes into the third hour. Hangman got in an extended attack at ringside early. Hangman clotheslined MJF over the ringside barricade just as MJF showed signs of life. Danielson encouraged Hangman to re-enter the ring and go for a countout win. Hangman instead threw MJF back into the ring.
MJF took over in the ring after yanking Hangman into the post. He raked his eyes mid-ring. Danielson said that MJF is the most insecure man he’s ever encountered in life. (Does that at all fit his on-air persona? I suppose if you believe those who self-brag and flaunt their materialistic wealth are most often among the most insecure people.) He said MJF could be one of the all-time greats if he took fewer shortcuts. Schaivone said he’s just not a good person and some people are like that. He said he’s not sure if it’s his upbringing or what.
Hangman battled back while MJF set up a top rope move. He bit his face and then landed a leaping clothesline. MJF took over again when he countered a Buckshot Lariat and then applied a Salt of the Earth armbar mid-ring. Hangman brawled toward the bottom rope, but MJF dragged him back. Hangman escaped and applied a crossface. MJF leveraged his shoulders back for a two count. MJF landed a kneelift and then a leaping cutter followed by a hammerlock DDT for a two count at 12:00.

MJF came up bleeding heavily from the forehead. Hangman had dried blood on his forehead from a cut earlier. They stood and exchanged strikes mid-ring in a bit of reset at 23:00. They leveraged each other into several two count near falls. The two counts became one points. The crowd chanted along. Hangman landed a Dead Eye.

Hangman had put his leg on the bottom rope before the third count, but the ref didn’t see it. The ref passed out, though, and couldn’t call for the bell or clarify his stance. MJF shook him and told him to call for the bell. Mark Briscoe’s music played and he tried to rush the ring. Officials held him back as MJF watched.

Fans chanted, “Cowboy Shit!” The ref checked on Hangman as he held his crotch. MJF snuck into the ring with the steel clipboard. He bashed Hangman with it, and the ref was distracted. Hangman, though, kicked out just before three in a dramatic near fall.
MJF put the Dynamite Diamond Ring on. The blocked him using it and scoded him. Hangman then bashed MJF with the clipboard and delivered a Death Eye center-ring followed by a Buckshot for the win.
WINNER: Hangman in 31:00 to retain the AEW World Title.
(Really good match. MJF was a despicable heel in every way throughout. Although Hangman beat him with use of the contract case, it was fighting fire with a lot of MJF fire throughout.)
(7) TONI STORM vs. ATHENA – AEW Women’s Title match
The bell rang 35 minutes into the third hour. Athena took control a minute in. She rammed Storm’s head into the ringpost several times. She yelled “Off with her head!” as she went for an axe kick. Storm avoided it and tried to take over. Athena sent Storm into the middle turnbuckle to thwart her comeback. Athena did a celebration dance and mocked Storm before charging at her. Storm recovered and took over. She scored a two count with a fisherman’s suplex. Danielson said Athena is wrestling the match like she doesn’t respect Storm. He said that was a mistake. Schiavone said Athena has said she believes Storm is overrated.
Storm and Athena exchanged strikes mid-ring. Athena ducked a kick and then took Storm down for a near fall. Danielson noted Athena stopped playing around and knew she was in a fight. Athena slammed Storm to the mat and rolled into a Koji clutch variation submission hold mid-ring. “She’s taking Storm to school,” said Danielson. Storm escaped and applied a chicken wing, but Athena threw her out of the ring to break it right away. She then dove through the ropes and tackled Storm at ringside.
Storm reversed Athena into the ringside barricade. Danielson said Strom needed that. Back in the ring she headbutted Athena and delivered a Storm Zero for a two count at 14:00. Billy Starkz attacked Storm. Mina Shirkawa ran out and chased her to the back with a chair in hand. Storm and Athena exchanged two counts in small packages. Storm then applied a chicken wing mid-ring and Athena tapped out.
WINNER: Storm in 16:00 to retain the AEW Women’s Title.
(A good match with the personalities of each playing into the dynamic throughout.)
(8) “HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE vs. MJF – AEW World Title match
The bell rang 58 minutes into the third hour. Hangman got in an extended attack at ringside early. Hangman clotheslined MJF over the ringside barricade just as MJF showed signs of life. Danielson encouraged Hangman to re-enter the ring and go for a countout win. Hangman instead threw MJF back into the ring.
MJF took over in the ring after yanking Hangman into the post. He raked his eyes mid-ring. Danielson said that MJF is the most insecure man he’s ever encountered in life. (Does that at all fit his on-air persona? I suppose if you believe those who self-brag and flaunt their materialistic wealth are most often among the most insecure people.) He said MJF could be one of the all-time greats if he took fewer shortcuts. Schaivone said he’s just not a good person and some people are like that. He said he’s not sure if it’s his upbringing or what.
Hangman battled back while MJF set up a top rope move. He bit his face and then landed a leaping clothesline. MJF took over again when he countered a Buckshot Lariat and then applied a Salt of the Earth armbar mid-ring. Hangman brawled toward the bottom rope, but MJF dragged him back. Hangman escaped and applied a crossface. MJF leveraged his shoulders back for a two count. MJF landed a kneelift and then a leaping cutter followed by a hammerlock DDT for a two count at 12:00.

Jim Ross joined in commentary again. Excalibur said he’s nervous about what they’re about to witness. Darby made his entrance and dropped a lot of enthusiastic F-bombs on his way. When Tanahashi came out, Excalibur said cage matches aren’t his forte. As Omega came out, Excalibur said neither he nor Ospreay had to be medically cleared because it’s unsanctioned. A video package aired on Ospreay before his entrance that almost felt like a final tribute.
When the Bucks came out, they played “MmmBop” by Hansen. Excalibur said the Bucks complained about not having their entrance theme, so Tony Khan gave them their original entrance music. The Death Riders came out last. The bell rang 53 minutes into the fourth hour.
The cage was large enough to leave room around ringside for dives and brawling. After an early flurry of moves including a flip dive by Ospreay, the Golden Loves and Bucks squared off mid-ring. Darby gave Claudio a Code Red in the ring. Omega then squared off with Gabe in the ring as others brawled at ringside. The Bucks re-entered the ring to battle Omega and Ibushi. They got the better of them this time and showboated. When the Bucks emptied a bag mid-ring, it was gummy bears. They threw a fit. Schiavone said it was a prank by Tony Khan.
The Bucks took it out on Darby on a ladder in the ring. Ospreay entered the ring and went to work. He bashed Mox with a chair and then put it over his head. Kidd intervened and then delivered a leaping piledriver. Omega checked on Ospreay.
Claudio gave Omega a giant swing as Kidd and the Bucks guarded the ring. Claudio catapulted Omega into a superkick by the Bucks. Claudio pressed Darby over his head and tossed him out of the ring and into the side of the cage.
Tanahashi showed up in the ring and joined in the fight, getting some spots on the heels. Mox cut off his momentum with a DDT. Back in the ring, Claudio put Darby in a chair and then wrapped duct tape around him. Mox then scraped and jabbed and twisted Darby’s ear lobe with it. It was gory and gross. Fans chanted, “You sick f—!” Mox then bodyslammed Darby while he was taped to the chair. Schiavone said, “I’ve seen a lot; I’ve never seen that.” Darby’s ear was gushing blood.
Darby fought back at ringside, but ate a kick from Matt who ran the ring apron before delivering it. Excalibur said Ospreay hasn’t moved since the piledriver from Kidd. Tanahasha rammed Mox into a table learning in the corner covered in barbed wire. Tanahashi gave Kidd a Sling Blade. He gave one to Mox next. Claudio stopped him, though, and delivered a Neutralizer. The bucks then gave Tanahashi the BTE Trigger for a near fall, with Ospreay breaking it up with a headbutt.

They collided with clotheslines. Omega landed a running high knee to the chin. He followed with a running V-Trigger as Mox was in the ropes. He followed with a One-Winged Angel, but Mox’s partners interrupted the count.
Darby climbed the tag to meet Yuta, who was climbing from the outside. He knocked Yuta off the cage through a table below. Darby dropped to the floor to chase down Moxley. He bashed Mox with a kendo stick. He put Mox on two tables which were stacked with two other tables. He then climbed to the top of the cage. Shafir pulled Mox to safety. Kidd gave Darby a low-blow. They battled on top of the cage. Kidd stood and held onto a chain and lifted Darby. Darby raked his eyes and then leaped off with Kidd in his grip and they crashed through the tables.
Back in the cage, Ospreay gave Claudio a Storm Breaker. Omega and Ibushi then delivered the Golden Trigger to Nick. Then Omega lifted Matt and then Omega leaped off the top rope with a V-Trigger followed by Omega landing a One-Winged Angel. Tanahashi then landed a splash and got the three count. They cut to a smiling Ospreay. Darby at ringside finally stood and celebrated briefly with his partners.
WINNERS: Tanahashi & Ospreay & Omega & Ibushi & Darvy in 34:00.
(A satsifying match with some really good use of signature moves and big spots. There was some gore with the fork, but it more about big moves. The pin break-ups made it more believable that the big moves didn’t end the match than in singles matches. The crowd ate it up. I liked the giant cage format that allowed for brawling at ringside and dives to ringside, but still kept the action in view of the fans in the arena. There were extended periods where wrestlers were out at ringside, but it made enough sense given what had led to it.)

Why not bring brass knuckles to the fight if you're CM Punk, or wear a hockey jersey with a steel breast plate underneath for the inevitable Bron or Roman Spear? He's such a fan of Brett Hart, that should be a no brainer.

2.) He's much better in one on one matches. His match with Gunther was a classic, and he put the big man over great. I like that Punk spends most of the match getting his ass beat. He's aging, he's not up to par with these guys on an athleticism level so he has to rely on his intestinal fortitude and his caginess at this stage in his career.
3.) I think that he always brings out the best in the other guy in one on one situations.
Also, get Bron out of the Vision. He is too good to be in it.

Bronson Reed is my favorite thing on Raw right now. I almost bought a 'Tribal Thief' t-shirt last night. He almost got himself another 'shoelafala' last night, too. I haven't been this worried about athletic footwear since I owned a pair of Jordans in the 80s.

It does kinda crack me up that they committed mutually assured destruction by bringing in the dumpster fire nobody son of a nobody fat dumb UFC "legend."
I can't stand any of them either but it's still unfortunate that a guy who thought he was working nearly got killed.
Looks like anyone worth any name value at all got right tf out of Knox already.

Also, random note, connecting to ESPN app via already having it on DTV was pretty seamless, so if they're serious about keeping it that way I'll keep watching the big shows but man, no way in hell is paying for WWE programming at all worth it. Keeping Netflix for now to see Canelo vs Bud but after that hell no.

WWE Clash in Paris PLE Results: 8-31-25

(1) ROMAN REIGNS vs. BRONSON REED (w/Paul Heyman)
Fans sang Roman’s name after his ring entrance. The announcers noted that Reigns says he wrestles for championships, not sneakers. The bell rang 14 minutes into the hour. Fans chanted “OTC!” before they locked up. Heyman had sneakers hanging around his neck as he watched from ringside. Cole said Heyman accompanied Reigns during his long title reign.
They locked up. Reed shoved Reigns and then flexed in self-satisfaction. A couple minutes later, Reigns lifted Reed onto his shoulders. Reigns feel backwards and Reed landed on him. Reigns rolled to ringside. Reed then took a running leap off the ring apron and shoulder tackled Reigns at ringside. Then he slammed him on the announce desk. Reigns fought back and rammed Reed into the ringpost several times at 7:00.
Reed took over in the ring and settled into a head twist on the mat. When Reigns escaped, Reed switched to a chinlock. The announcers said Heyman has coached Reed to anticipate and counter all of Reigns’s moves. Barrett talked about Reed’s growth since he first arrived in NXT. Reigns powered out at 14:00 and then avoided a corner splash by Reed.
Reigns hit Reed mid-ring with some standing lariats. Reed absorbed them, but eventually Reigns knocked him to the floor. He pursued Reed and landed a Drive By and then rammed him into the ringpost. Reigns went for a Suyoerman Punch, but Reed countered with a uranage and a senton for a near fall at 16:00.
Reed countered a Superman Punch into a Death Valley Driver for a two count. When Reed dove through the ropes, he swung at Reed with a Superman Punch. Cole said he wasn’t sure if he got all of it. Reigns landed a mid-ring Superman Punch for a two count.
Reed came back and went for a Tsunami at 20:00, but Reigns moved. Reigns then went for a spear, but Reed stuffed it and landed a sitout powerbomb for a dramatic near fall.
Reigns caught Reed on the top rope in the corner. Reed headbutted him. Reigns came back with a Superman Punch in the corner. He followed with a Samoan Drop off the top rope. Reigns popped up and played to the crowd. He followed with a spear for the three count.
WINNER: Reigns in 22:00.
(Really effective rudimentary match where everything counted, the match had chapters that led the crowd rise and then settle and then rise again. They each got in signature moves in logical spots in the match. Reed looked competitive and formidable against an established top tier star, but it made sense for Reigns to get a clean win. This would have been a bit of a slog for a main event, but it was solid for an opener, especially with a hot crowd reacting to everything,)

Cole said Reigns that if “you come for the king, you best not miss.” Heyman consoled Reed afterward and complained that it wasn’t a three count. Reigns entered the ring behind Heyman. Heyman stood and turned around and begged off. “Wait a minute!” he said. “I love you, my Tribal Chief. I acknowledge you, my Tribal Chief. The world is yours.” Reigns asked him to hand over the sneakers around his neck. Heyman did. He smiled and applauded as Reigns held them up. Reigns then put Heyman in a guillotine. Heyman frantically tapped and then Reigns dropped his limp body to the mat.
As Reigns stood on the announce desk and held up the sneakers as fans cheered, Bron Breakker showed up and leaped off a announce desk and tackled Reigns. They cut to Jelly Roll looking on concerted at ringside. Officials ran out and warned Breakker to retreat. Reed then checked on Heyman in the ring. Breakker joined him.
Reigns was shown struggling to stand. Just when it seemed things had calmed down, Breakker charged down the aisle toward the ring and speared Reigns, who was gingerly making his way to the back. Breakker yelled at Reigns, “You understand, you are in my way!” He threw him into the ring where Reed landed a Tsunami. Reed told off booing fans and gave them the up yours gesture. Reigns was strapped to a backbrace and carried to the back. Cole said he hoped it was “just precautionary.” Reed ran back to the ring and landed a Tsunami on Reigns while he was on the backboard.
Jey Uso charged out for the save. “Enough is enough,” said Cole. Barrett said Jey is wrestling for the WWE Title later, but family comes first. Reed and Breakker took care of Jey. Security and officials entered the ring. Reed leaped over them and landed another Tsunami. “You’re going to kill him!” exclaimed Cole. Reigns was carried on the backboard to the back.
(2) THE WYATT SICKS (Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy w/Erick Rowan, Nikki Cross, Bray Wyatt) vs. THE STREET PROFITS (w/B-Fab) – WWE Tag Team Title match
Cole said Bray Wyatt was trying to get it the heads of the Profits by suggesting Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford aren’t as close as they portray. Cole said he was told Reigns was being taken to the hospital and Heyman may be headed there too. The bell rang 2 minutes into the second hour.
Ford wanted to start, but Dawkins reached out and insisted he start. They had a tense moment. Barrett said they should work that out in the back. Lumis and Gacy controlled most of the early minutes.
Dawkins leaped over the top rope and took down Gacy and Lumis at 7:00. He rallied in the ring. He landed a twisting neckbreaker and then leaped off the top rope with a swanton for a near fall. Ford landed a Blockbuster on Gacy off the top rope off Dawkins shoulders. Lumis broke up the cover at two. Gacy tried a comeback, but Dawkins landed a spinebuster. Ford then leaped with a frog splash, but Gacy moved. Gacy gave Lumis a Death Valley Driver on Ford. Dawkins broke it up.
The action spilled to ringside. Rowan got in Dawkin’s face. Lumis hit Dawkins from behind. Ford landed a running flip dive over the top turnbuckle onto Rowan and Lumis at ringside. Nikki held Ford’s boot at ringside. Wyatt gave him a Sister Abigail. Then Gacy and Lumis hit their Plague finisher for the three count on Ford.
WINNERS: Lumis & Gacy in 13:00 to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.
(Solid tag match with early small teases of issues between Ford and Dawkins. Will they actually break up this time? Will they both go singles or will one or both pick a new tag partner, if they do break up. I don’t think fans are rooting against the Wyatts with any passion, so the emotional investment in this match wasn’t strong.)
(3) BECKY LYNCH vs. NIKKI BELLA – WWE Intercontinental Title match
Barrett said Nikki is desperate to prove she can hang in the current era. He said no one knows what to expect from her. The bell rang 26 minutes into the second hour. Cole noted this is their first singles match ever.
After some back and forth early exchanges, at 2:00 Becky landed an exploder suplex. She yelled down at Nikki, “This is my ring.” Nikki fought back. Becky took over and scored a two count. She settled into a chinlock next.
They wildly swung at each other at 5:00. Becky got in sustained offense. Cole said Becky has been a fighting champion. Fans chanted for Becky. Becky landed a superplex for a two count and then quickly shifted to an extended armbar attempt. Nikki resisted and then leveraged Becky’s shoulders down for a two count. Nikki applied her Fearless Lock.
Becky reached the ropes to force a break on another submission attempt by Nikki. Cole said Nikki looked frustrated. Nikki rammed Becky into the ringside steps. Back in the ring, Becky avoided a Rack Attack. Nikki landed a Manhandle Slam against Becky right away for a near fall at 12:00. Nikki then attempted to put Becky in a Disarm Her. Becky escaped and then leeraged Nikki’s shoulders down with a backslide for a three count.
WINNER: Becky Lynch in 13:00 to retain the Intercontinental Title.
(Passable action most of the time and, all in all, an okay novelty match between top stars of two separate eras, even if Nikki seems to think she was a bigger deal in her era than she was. Nikki doesn’t look like she’s anywhere near Becky’s skill level and Becky carried this for sure.)

(4) RUSEV vs SHEAMUS – Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook match
The bell rang 53 minutes into the second hour. Cole said it’s the rubber match in their recent battles. They brawled at ringside. Rusev took control with a kendo stick. Rusev bashed Sheamus in the chest over and over. Then he remove the top turnbuckle pad. Sheamus went for an Irish Curse backbreaker. The first one was flubbed. He landed the second. He then attacked Rusev with the kendo stick.
Rusev wedged a chair into a corner. Sheamus recovered and sat up, seething, almost inviting a Rusev attack. Rusev kicked him over and over. Sheamus yelled, “Come on!” Rusev swung a chair. Sheamus blocked it and then landed a running knee for a two count.
Sheamus landed his Ten Beats forearm series on Rusev. Rusev took over at ringside right afterward. Sheamus fought back and landed a barrage of forearms on Rusev’s chest on a bar set up at ringside.
Back in the ring, Sheamus set up White Noise. Rusev slipped out. Sheamus shoved him into the chair wedges in the corner. He followed with a Celtic Cross for a near fall at 10:00.
Sheamus leaped off the top rope at Rusev at ringside, but Rusev bashed him with a kendo stick. Rusev took over and slammed Sheamus through the bar at ringside. He stomped Sheamus in the ring and then applied his Accolade mid-ring. Sheamus lifted Rusev out of it and slammed Rusev backwards onto a chair mid-ring.
At ringside, Sheamus tried to pull Rusev onto four whiskey barrels. Rusev took over and put Sheamus in the Accolade on the barrels. Cole said a submission has to take place in the ring, so a tapout wouldn’t matter here. Sheamus powered out and then leaped off the barrels with a White Noise through two tables below.
Sheamus landed “a Brogue Kick out of nowhere” for a dramatic near fall at 18:00. They cut to gasping fans at ringside. They replayed the connection to Rusev’s head as Barrett said he’s never seen a more brutal Brogue Kick.
Rusev backdropped a charging Sheamus and then broke a shillelagh across Sheamus’s back for a near fall. Rusev followed up with an Accolade with a shillelagh jammed into Sheamus’s back and Sheamus tapped out. Cole said that’s only the second. Barrett said Rusev is a major player in WWE.
WINNER: Rusev in 20:00.
(Wild, hard-hitting, fun brawl. A couple botched exchanges that seemed to be on Rusev, but no big deal as they recovered nicely. This feud feels very much an island unto itself without a sense of the winner hoping to move on to something else, so it was noteworthy that Barrett called him “a major player” after his win.)
(5) JOHN CENA vs. LOGAN PAUL
As Logan made his entrance, Cole touted his social media stats. Barrett said stars are made in new way in this era and Logan has figured it out.
Cena made his entrance second and got huge cheers. Fans chanted, “Thank you, Cena!” They showed a banner hanging from the upper deck that said, “Thank you, Cena!” The bell rang 29 minutes into the third hour.
Cena and Logan circled each other and then engaged in a test of strength. Logan methodically battered Cena for several minutes taking breaks to play to the crowd. Logan fended off a Cena comeback attempt and landed a neckbreaker for a two count. Logan landed a delayed vertical suplex next for a two count. Logan applied a side headlock. When fans sang, Cole said he hoped fans at home could pick up on the crowd passion.
Logan nonchalantly covered Cena with his foot on his chest. Cole said Logan is talented, but he’s not going to beat Cena that way. Barrett said Logan wanted a viral moment. Cole said he should stop screwing around and get a big win if he can. Barrett said he got his foot in the door in WWE because of viral moments, so he shouldn’t change who he is now.
Cena rallied with shoulder tackles and a slam. He signaled for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He did “You can’t see me” and fans yelled those words. He then landed the fistdrop. He followed with an Attitude Adjustment set-up, but Logan pulled himself free using the top rope. Logan followed with slingshot flip clothesline for a two count.
Logan went for a top rope splash, but Cena lifted his knees and then landed an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall at 10:00. Paul came back with an Octopus. Cole noted Antonio Inoki made it famous. Cena powered out, but Logan rolled through for a two count. Cena then quickly applied an STFU mid-ring. Logan crawled over and grabbed the bottom rope. Logan charged at Cena, but Cena lifted his boots and then gave Logan a tornado DDT for a two count.
Logan came back with drove Cena’s head into the mat for a two count. Logan gave Cena a Zig Zag for a two count. Cole said Logan is doing things they’ve never seen him do before. Barrett even setting aside the showboating and arrogance, he is brilliant. Cole said he’s gaining a lot of respect for the work Logan is putting in to expand his in-ring game.
Logan snapped Cena’s neck over the top rope. He followed with a top roe swanton followed by a standing moonsault for a two count. Cena avoided a charging Logan in the corner and then landed a butterfly faceplant for a near fall. Logan landed a lift-and-drop uppercut for a two count at 18:00. Barrett pointed out the forearm landed on Cena’s chest instead of his chin.
Logan, face smeared in blood, went into Cena’s finishing routine. Logan took his time, so Cena recovered and surprised Logan with an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall. Barrett said “peacocking” like that is a major faux pas and can cost you. Cena followed up with a Code Red for a near fall. Logan caught Cena with his signature right punch for a near fall.
Logan kipped up and then climbed to the top rope and landed his top rope Fall From Grace splash. He followed up with a second top rope splash for a two count. Cena rolled out of Logan’s Attitude Adjustment attempt and then delivered a Styles Clash for a near fall.
Cena went for an Attitude Adjustment off the second rope, but Logan blocked it and then landed a crossbody press. Cena rolled through and hoisted Logan onto his shoulders and landed an Attitude Adjustment. Logan slipped out and landed a right. Cena ducked a second right. Cena then gave Logan an Attitude Adjustment for the win. “Just wow,” said Barrett.
Cena greeted his wife and some celebrities at ringside before returning to the ring to play to adoring crowd.
WINNER: Cena in 26:00.
(Tremendous match. Logan did almost all of the work early and carried the match with his athleticism and heel mannerisms, but Cena definitely delivered a stellar effort and contributed to a dramatic final 10 minutes or so with a lot of dramatic counter moves and near falls. Logan is a lot of things, good and bad, but one of them is that he is one of the more gifted athletes and fastest-rising in-ring workers is on that list. He works the modern move/counter-move high spot dense style really well. Cena is going out with prideful efforts that shows he can hang with people like Cody and Logan.)

Rusev backdropped a charging Sheamus and then broke a shillelagh across Sheamus’s back for a near fall. Rusev followed up with an Accolade with a shillelagh jammed into Sheamus’s back and Sheamus tapped out. Cole said that’s only the second. Barrett said Rusev is a major player in WWE.
WINNER: Rusev in 20:00.
(Wild, hard-hitting, fun brawl. A couple botched exchanges that seemed to be on Rusev, but no big deal as they recovered nicely. This feud feels very much an island unto itself without a sense of the winner hoping to move on to something else, so it was noteworthy that Barrett called him “a major player” after his win.)
(5) JOHN CENA vs. LOGAN PAUL
As Logan made his entrance, Cole touted his social media stats. Barrett said stars are made in new way in this era and Logan has figured it out.
Cena made his entrance second and got huge cheers. Fans chanted, “Thank you, Cena!” They showed a banner hanging from the upper deck that said, “Thank you, Cena!” The bell rang 29 minutes into the third hour.
Cena and Logan circled each other and then engaged in a test of strength. Logan methodically battered Cena for several minutes taking breaks to play to the crowd. Logan fended off a Cena comeback attempt and landed a neckbreaker for a two count. Logan landed a delayed vertical suplex next for a two count. Logan applied a side headlock. When fans sang, Cole said he hoped fans at home could pick up on the crowd passion.
Logan nonchalantly covered Cena with his foot on his chest. Cole said Logan is talented, but he’s not going to beat Cena that way. Barrett said Logan wanted a viral moment. Cole said he should stop screwing around and get a big win if he can. Barrett said he got his foot in the door in WWE because of viral moments, so he shouldn’t change who he is now.
Cena rallied with shoulder tackles and a slam. He signaled for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He did “You can’t see me” and fans yelled those words. He then landed the fistdrop. He followed with an Attitude Adjustment set-up, but Logan pulled himself free using the top rope. Logan followed with slingshot flip clothesline for a two count.
Logan went for a top rope splash, but Cena lifted his knees and then landed an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall at 10:00. Paul came back with an Octopus. Cole noted Antonio Inoki made it famous. Cena powered out, but Logan rolled through for a two count. Cena then quickly applied an STFU mid-ring. Logan crawled over and grabbed the bottom rope. Logan charged at Cena, but Cena lifted his boots and then gave Logan a tornado DDT for a two count.
Logan came back with drove Cena’s head into the mat for a two count. Logan gave Cena a Zig Zag for a two count. Cole said Logan is doing things they’ve never seen him do before. Barrett even setting aside the showboating and arrogance, he is brilliant. Cole said he’s gaining a lot of respect for the work Logan is putting in to expand his in-ring game.
Logan snapped Cena’s neck over the top rope. He followed with a top roe swanton followed by a standing moonsault for a two count. Cena avoided a charging Logan in the corner and then landed a butterfly faceplant for a near fall. Logan landed a lift-and-drop uppercut for a two count at 18:00. Barrett pointed out the forearm landed on Cena’s chest instead of his chin.
Logan, face smeared in blood, went into Cena’s finishing routine. Logan took his time, so Cena recovered and surprised Logan with an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall. Barrett said “peacocking” like that is a major faux pas and can cost you. Cena followed up with a Code Red for a near fall. Logan caught Cena with his signature right punch for a near fall.
Logan kipped up and then climbed to the top rope and landed his top rope Fall From Grace splash. He followed up with a second top rope splash for a two count. Cena rolled out of Logan’s Attitude Adjustment attempt and then delivered a Styles Clash for a near fall.
Cena went for an Attitude Adjustment off the second rope, but Logan blocked it and then landed a crossbody press. Cena rolled through and hoisted Logan onto his shoulders and landed an Attitude Adjustment. Logan slipped out and landed a right. Cena ducked a second right. Cena then gave Logan an Attitude Adjustment for the win. “Just wow,” said Barrett.
Cena greeted his wife and some celebrities at ringside before returning to the ring to play to adoring crowd.
WINNER: Cena in 26:00.
(Tremendous match. Logan did almost all of the work early and carried the match with his athleticism and heel mannerisms, but Cena definitely delivered a stellar effort and contributed to a dramatic final 10 minutes or so with a lot of dramatic counter moves and near falls. Logan is a lot of things, good and bad, but one of them is that he is one of the more gifted athletes and fastest-rising in-ring workers is on that list. He works the modern move/counter-move high spot dense style really well. Cena is going out with prideful efforts that shows he can hang with people like Cody and Logan.)

WWE Clash in Paris PLE Results: 8-31-25
(6) SETH ROLLINS vs. C.M. PUNK vs. L.A. KNIGHT vs. JEY USO – World Title match
They showed Jey working his way through the concourse swarmed by fans and then to the ring. Knight came out next. Then Punk, who got in Knight’s face and had a tense exchange. Fans Punk’s song even after the music stopped. Seth’s entrance ended it. Fans applauded Seth’s song after it ended, then sang his song during formal ring introductions.

Back in the ring, Jey went for a spear, but Seth countered into a Pedigree for a two count. Jey avoided a Seth splash and landed superkicks and a spear. Seth kneeled and told Punk he hates him and his stupid family and doesn’t want him to win another title or have another match. He grabbed a chair at ringside. Then he delivered a running stomp to Jey and then one to Knight.
Back in the ring, Seth placed Punk’s head on a chair set up in the ring. He went for a stomp, but Punk moved. Seth sold a knee injury. Punk set up a GTS and smiled. A masked person came up behind Punk and gave him a low blow. She unmasked and it was Becky. Cole said, “That’s Seth Rollins’s wife!” Seth landed a stomp on Punk for the win.
Cole said Seth claimed he didn’t need help, but he did get help.
WINNER: Rollins in 25:00.
(Is this a one-off alliance with Seth and Becky or a sign Becky is going to join The Vision? The match was what you’d expect and hope for with these four when given a 25 minute window. Well-executed and exciting. The finish was legal in the sense that anything goes in a Fatal Four-way, but it wasn’t exactly clean in the traditional sense. The idea of Becky and Seth officially aligned in the ring felt novel rather than played out.)

(1) CHRISTIAN CAGE & ADAM COPELAND vs. FTR (Cash & Dax w/Stokely Hathaway)
After a video package, Copeland and Christian walked past some local celebrities backstage. First, Eednel Clark, who said they can call him Spanky.. Copeland was zany happy and Christian was cold and distant. Then they ran into Bubbles from “Trailer Park Boys” who was in his Green Bastard pro wrestling outfit. Christian said something disparaging about his mother. Copeland gave him a hard time. The crowd ate it up. Copeland said regarding Christian, “He’s an asshole, but he’s my asshole.”
Copeland came out to his entrance theme first. When Christian made his entrance, fans chanted, “He’s out asshole!” FTR came out. Dax’s nose was taped as the announcers talked about him suffering a broken nose on Dynamite earlier in the week.
After some early offense by Copeland and Christian, FTR took over for several minutes of methodical offense against Christian. Copeland got a hot tag and scored a near fall on Dax at 8:00. Copeland did John Cena’s sequence with You Can’t See Me and a Five Knuckle Shuffle and an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall. Fans chanted “Cena! Cena!” Danielson said Copeland was “paying homage to one of his top rivals.” He didn’t say Cena’s name. Fans chanted, “This is awesome!”
Danielson said the longer the match goes, the more it favors FTR. Christian and Copeland applied stereo sharpshooters mid-ring. Stokely shoved Dax the ring apron and Dax grabbed it. The ref called for a break. Copeland and Christian cornered Stokely at ringside. Dax and Cash then saved him.
When Copeland had Dax covered, Stokely yanked the ref out of the ring at the two count. Danielson said that should be a DQ. Music played on the stage and Stokely looked to see who it was going to be. Out came Beth Copeland (a/k/a Beth Phoenix). She speared Stokely. Copeland then scored a near fall against Dax in the ring. Beth carried Stokely on her shoulders to the back as fans chanted, “Holy shit!” Cash swung the ring bell at Copeland, but Copeland ducked.
Dax begged off. Copeland spit on him. (Geesh, that’s trashy.) Cash yanked Christian off the ring apron and powerbombed him onto the Spanish announce desk. Dax hit Copeland with the ring bell. FTR gave Copeland a spike piledriver for a near fall. Schiavone asked how Copeland kicked out after that. “Holy cowl” he exclaimed. Danielson said he was worried about Copeland’s neck. Another, “This is awesome!” chant rang out. Copeland gave Dax an Impaler, and then gave Cash an Impaler. Copeland struggled to stand afterward, favoring his neck.
Copeland went for a spear, but FTR countered with a Shatter Machine for a near fall at 16:00. Excalibur said FTR won titles around the world with that. They gave Copeland a second Shatter Machine. Christian intervened, and then Copeland caught Dax with a sudden spear for the win.
WINNERS: Copeland & Christian in 17:00.
(The finish was a little weird in terms of the cadence of the last 15 seconds. FTR hit Shatter Machine, and then Cash just gave Copeland an uppercut and then wandered over to Christian at ringside leading to Copeland surprising him with a spear. Was that the intention or was someone a bit off timing-wise? Anyway, a crowd-pleasing, solid overall tag match.)
-Afterward, Kip Sabian wheeled Nick Wayne to the stage. FTR attacked Christian and Copeland from behind. Sabian handcuffed Copeland to the middle rope as the heels attacked Christian. Beth tried to detach Copeland. FTR approached Beth. She kissed Copeland and said, “I love you” as if she expected to never see him again. She slapped FTR. They gave her a stuff piledriver seconds later. Fans chanted, “You sick f—s!” Danielson called that “disgusting.” After Copeland was released from the cuffs, he checked on Beth.
(2) EDDIE KINGSTON (w/Bryan Keith) vs. BIG BILL
The bell rang 40 minutes into the hour. Kingston looked the same as always. Kingston got in some early chops. Bill methodically battered him for a few minutes. When Kingston made a comeback, Bill met his charge with a boot to the face. Danielson said his cardio might be running out, “not that he didn’t train hard for this.” Kingston swung wildly with a spinning backfirst that largely missed. Bill went down and Kingston scored the three count. The announcers tried to change their story from the elbow missing to actually landing on Bill’s jaw.
WINNER: Kingston in 8:00.
(Not good.)
(3) MARK BRISCOE vs. MJF – Tables & Thumbtacks match
The bell rang 56 minutes into the hour. The ring was covered in thumb tacks. Fans chanted, “You f—ed up!” at MJF. They battled mid-ring to try to avoid being the first to land on the tacks. MJF was wearing jeans, kneepads, elbowpads, and long gloves. MJF poked Briscoe in the eyes and then bodyslammed him onto the tacks. Danielson said Briscoe chose this stip himself. Excalibur said he knew what he would be in for. MJF then rubbed Briscoe’s forehead into the mat. The camera totally botched the view of Briscoe’s face as he sat up. Fans chanted “You suck f—!” at MJF.
Briscoe was bleeding from a dozen or so puncture wounds. MJF flattened a table at ringside and shoved it under the ring. Fans booed. MJF gave an Alabama Slam to Briscoe on the tacks, then dragged him around on them.
MJF shoved tacks in Briscoe’s mouth, then punched him. Briscoe made a comeback a minute later and backdropped MJF onto the tacks. Fans delighted in MJF’s cries of agony. he slammed him onto the attacks a minute latera nd scored a two count. Schiavone said, “I don’t know what it says about bem, ut I’m loving every minute of this.” Briscoe, with tacks stuck to his scalp and body, climbed to the top rope. MJF rolled to the floor. Briscoe dove through the ropes and onto MJF. Briscoe then set up a table and crashed MJF through it.
Briscoe threw MJF into the ringside barricade. Then he set up another table. He knocked MJF onto it and then leaped off the ring apron Cactus Jack style, letting out a “Bang! Bang!” first. Back in the ring, MJF threw a handful of tacks at Briscoe’s face. Briscoe powerbombed MJF onto the tacks. Briscoe then pulled a chair covered in thumb stacks glued to it.
When Briscoe wound up with the chair, MJF kicked him in the crotch and then bashed him across his back with the chair. He followed with a tombstone piledriver onto the chair for a two count at 14:00. MJF’s cover was cocky and nonchalant.
MJF set up a table in the ring. Fans chanted, “Lets go tacks!” Schiavone was confused, thinking fans were chanting, “Let’s go Max!” MJF poured tacks on a table mid-ring. MJF then set up a powerbomb, but Briscoe countered and punched away at MJF in the corner. When Briscoe stood on the top rope, MJF shoved him off balance. MJF then set up a second rope leaping tombstone. Briscoe kicked himself free and then set up a Jay Driller off the top rope. MJF bit Briscoe’s forehead. Briscoe bit back. Briscoe then knocked MJF onto the table and landed the Froggy Bow elbowdrop. He followed up another Froggy Bow. Briscoe then gave MJF a Jay Driller for the win.
WINNER: Briscoe in 19:00.
(Keller’s Analysis: It lived up to its billing with immersive use of tacks and significant use of tables. The finish was satisfying, storyline-wise, given how MJF had disparaged Jay Briscoe. It’s a good win for Briscoe to establish he’s not just there to ultimately job to MJF. Good for MJF to not use his clout to avoid doing a clean job.)
(4) THE HURT SYNDICATE (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin & MVP) vs. THE DEMAND (Ricochet & Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
The bell rang 26 minutes into the hour. They took turns with back and forth battles. When Lashley covered Ricochet at 7:00, Liona gave the weakest pin break up you’ll ever see. He just lightly hit Lashley on his back. Lashley sorta reacted, but was still covering Ricochet and Ricochet’s shoulders were still down. Just so half-hearted and lazy.
The crowd woke up when Shelton tagged in an backdropped Ricohet and then suplexed both Ricochet and Kaun at 8:00. Lashley caught Liona with two spears and scored a two count, but Ricochet broke up the count with a 450 splash.
Next they battled at ringside for an extended stretch. Ricochet landed a running flip dive onto Shelton and Lashley at ringside. Back in the ring, Ricochet leaped at MVP, but MVP countered into a suplex. He set up his Playmaker, but Kaun chop blocked MVP and held him up as Ricochet finished MVP with a Spirit Gun.
WINNERS: The Demand in 14:00.
(An okay match. The crowd was into some peak moments here and there, but the match never really gained traction and often felt like an 80 percent effort walk-thru with surges for the mandatory signature moves. The crowd seemed deflated by what should have been the expected finish with MVP taking the pin. The fans wanted a feel-good finish, apparently.)

(2) EDDIE KINGSTON (w/Bryan Keith) vs. BIG BILL
The bell rang 40 minutes into the hour. Kingston looked the same as always. Kingston got in some early chops. Bill methodically battered him for a few minutes. When Kingston made a comeback, Bill met his charge with a boot to the face. Danielson said his cardio might be running out, “not that he didn’t train hard for this.” Kingston swung wildly with a spinning backfirst that largely missed. Bill went down and Kingston scored the three count. The announcers tried to change their story from the elbow missing to actually landing on Bill’s jaw.
WINNER: Kingston in 8:00.
(Not good.)
(3) MARK BRISCOE vs. MJF – Tables & Thumbtacks match
The bell rang 56 minutes into the hour. The ring was covered in thumb tacks. Fans chanted, “You f—ed up!” at MJF. They battled mid-ring to try to avoid being the first to land on the tacks. MJF was wearing jeans, kneepads, elbowpads, and long gloves. MJF poked Briscoe in the eyes and then bodyslammed him onto the tacks. Danielson said Briscoe chose this stip himself. Excalibur said he knew what he would be in for. MJF then rubbed Briscoe’s forehead into the mat. The camera totally botched the view of Briscoe’s face as he sat up. Fans chanted “You suck f—!” at MJF.
Briscoe was bleeding from a dozen or so puncture wounds. MJF flattened a table at ringside and shoved it under the ring. Fans booed. MJF gave an Alabama Slam to Briscoe on the tacks, then dragged him around on them.
MJF shoved tacks in Briscoe’s mouth, then punched him. Briscoe made a comeback a minute later and backdropped MJF onto the tacks. Fans delighted in MJF’s cries of agony. he slammed him onto the attacks a minute latera nd scored a two count. Schiavone said, “I don’t know what it says about bem, ut I’m loving every minute of this.” Briscoe, with tacks stuck to his scalp and body, climbed to the top rope. MJF rolled to the floor. Briscoe dove through the ropes and onto MJF. Briscoe then set up a table and crashed MJF through it.
Briscoe threw MJF into the ringside barricade. Then he set up another table. He knocked MJF onto it and then leaped off the ring apron Cactus Jack style, letting out a “Bang! Bang!” first. Back in the ring, MJF threw a handful of tacks at Briscoe’s face. Briscoe powerbombed MJF onto the tacks. Briscoe then pulled a chair covered in thumb stacks glued to it.
When Briscoe wound up with the chair, MJF kicked him in the crotch and then bashed him across his back with the chair. He followed with a tombstone piledriver onto the chair for a two count at 14:00. MJF’s cover was cocky and nonchalant.
MJF set up a table in the ring. Fans chanted, “Lets go tacks!” Schiavone was confused, thinking fans were chanting, “Let’s go Max!” MJF poured tacks on a table mid-ring. MJF then set up a powerbomb, but Briscoe countered and punched away at MJF in the corner. When Briscoe stood on the top rope, MJF shoved him off balance. MJF then set up a second rope leaping tombstone. Briscoe kicked himself free and then set up a Jay Driller off the top rope. MJF bit Briscoe’s forehead. Briscoe bit back. Briscoe then knocked MJF onto the table and landed the Froggy Bow elbowdrop. He followed up another Froggy Bow. Briscoe then gave MJF a Jay Driller for the win.
WINNER: Briscoe in 19:00.
(Keller’s Analysis: It lived up to its billing with immersive use of tacks and significant use of tables. The finish was satisfying, storyline-wise, given how MJF had disparaged Jay Briscoe. It’s a good win for Briscoe to establish he’s not just there to ultimately job to MJF. Good for MJF to not use his clout to avoid doing a clean job.)
(4) THE HURT SYNDICATE (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin & MVP) vs. THE DEMAND (Ricochet & Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
The bell rang 26 minutes into the hour. They took turns with back and forth battles. When Lashley covered Ricochet at 7:00, Liona gave the weakest pin break up you’ll ever see. He just lightly hit Lashley on his back. Lashley sorta reacted, but was still covering Ricochet and Ricochet’s shoulders were still down. Just so half-hearted and lazy.
The crowd woke up when Shelton tagged in an backdropped Ricohet and then suplexed both Ricochet and Kaun at 8:00. Lashley caught Liona with two spears and scored a two count, but Ricochet broke up the count with a 450 splash.
Next they battled at ringside for an extended stretch. Ricochet landed a running flip dive onto Shelton and Lashley at ringside. Back in the ring, Ricochet leaped at MVP, but MVP countered into a suplex. He set up his Playmaker, but Kaun chop blocked MVP and held him up as Ricochet finished MVP with a Spirit Gun.
WINNERS: The Demand in 14:00.
(An okay match. The crowd was into some peak moments here and there, but the match never really gained traction and often felt like an 80 percent effort walk-thru with surges for the mandatory signature moves. The crowd seemed deflated by what should have been the expected finish with MVP taking the pin. The fans wanted a feel-good finish, apparently.)

(5) MERCEDES MONE vs. RIHO – TBS Title match
Riho got in some early offense with a backslide for a two count, a La Magistral cradle for another near fall, and finally a roll-up. Mercedes battled back. They fought at ringside briefly including Riho landing a double stomp on the announce desk.
Back in the ring, they took turns using mat work to try to get submissions and near falls with leverage pin attempts. Mercedes landed a meteora off the ring apron and scored a near fall back in the ring. They battled back and forth with mat work and spots leading to near falls, mostly by Riho during this stretch.
For the finish, Mercedes gouged Riho’s eyes after distracting the rev, then hit a lung blower and Money Maker for the win.
WINNER: Mercedes in 16:00 to retain the TBS Title.
(Serviceable action start to finish. It just didn’t feel like the crowd was invested in Riho as a challenger. Nothing wrong with the match, but it wasn’t sizzling either.)
(6) KAZUCHIKA OKADA vs. MASCARA DORADA vs. KONSUKE TAKESHITA – AEW Unified (Continental & International) Title match
Don Callis joined the announcers on commentary. The bell rang 8 minutes into the third hour. Takeshita and Okada worked together against Dorada at first. Dorada countered their attack and scored an early two count against Takeshita.
Takeshita took over against Dorada with Okada recovering (resting?) at ringside. Fans chanted, “F— Don Callis!” Okada returned. Dorada dropkicked Takeshita off the top rope. Dorada then dove onto Okada. Dorada took turns hitting moves on Takeshita and Okada at ringside until Takeshita caught him and gave him a brainbuster on the ramp.
Dorada again found himself battling both Okada and Takeshita in the ring. He knocked them to ringside. He ran the ropes, but Okada tripped him. Daielson asked Callis if Okada was happy for Takeshita winning the G1 this year. Callis said, “Of course he was.” He said Okada won two himself. Another ‘F— Don Callis!” chant broke out.
Oakada tried to yank off Dorada’s mask at 7:00. Taz said of Okada does that, the he’s going to rip off Excalibur’s mask. “Please don’t do so,” Excalibur kindly asked.
With Dorada down, Okada and Takeshita had a staredown. Okada gouged Takeshita’s eyes, then landed a sliding kick to Dorada. As Okada methodically worked over Dorada, Callis said, “The zen-like calmness of Okada.” Taz said he was barely breathing hard. (That’s not so much great cardio as it is working at a very slow, casual pace.) Dorada made a comeback and landed a tornado into an armdrag. Takeshita launched Dorada into the air and Dorada dropkicked Okada to ringside. Dorada knocked Takeshita to the floor and then ran the ropes and landed a tornado crossbody on Okada. He followed up with the same on a patiently awaiting Takeshita at ringside. Dorada played to the crowd as he stood on the ringside barricade at 10:00.
Excalibur said Dorada was on the verge of the biggest victory of his career. He lifted Okada onto his shoulders and landed a neckbreaker for a near fall. Okada took over and landed a top rope elbowdrop. He then gave the crowd the middle finger gesture. Danielson observed, “He has a long middle finger.” Takeshita entered and went after Okada. They exchanged moves and counter moves into a Blue Thunderbomb by Takeshita for a near fall.
Dorada caught Takeshita with a destroyer for a near fall. Dorada leaped off the top rope and landed a 450 splash. Okada yanked Dorada by his boot to ringside before the three count and shoved him into the barricade. All three stood on the top rope and Dorada took Takeshita and Okada to the mat with double huracarana. He scored a two count on Okada and then a two count on Takeshita. Fans applauded. Fans chanted “AEW!” Danielson said that deserved five replays.
Takeshita and Okada clear the ring and then faced off and exchanged strikes mid-ring. Okada gave Takeshita a tombstone. Dorada landed a moonsault on both Takeshita and Okada for a two count a minute later. He followed with a top rope shooting star press on Okada. After taking five seconds to play to the crowd before doing the move, Okada recovered enough to lift his knees. Takeshita then kicked Dorada. Okada and Takeshita battled again.
Okada landed a high dropkick. Takeshita ducked a Rainmaker and then suplexed bot Dorada and Okada. Dorada landed on his feet and then scored a near fall on Takeshita. He followed with a kick to Okada’s chest followed by a top rope leaping DDT of Okada on the ring apron. This time, he didn’t pause to play to the crowd. He then paused to play to the crowd before climbing to the top rope. Takeshita recovered and knocked Dorada off balance. He then landed a superplex. Takeshita went for Raging Fire, but Dorada blocked it. He tried again and landed it. Okada broke up the cover.
Okada went for a Rainmaker on Takeshita, but Takeshita blocked it. Okada knocked Takeshita out of the ring and then hit Dorada with the Rainmaker for the win. Callis entered the ring to congratulate Okada. Takeshita left on his own as Okada celebrated.
WINNER: Okada in 21:00 to retain the Unified Title.
(Very much on the high end of the range of expectations with those three. Really good match that felt more like a showcase for Dorada than anything, with just enough tension between Okada and Takeshita to keep them together after this but build toward a breakaway by Takeshita. Easily the leading candidate for Match of the Day.)
(7) DARBY ALLIN vs. JON MOXLEY (w/Marina Shafir) – Coffin Match
As Mox made his entrance through the crowd, Darby attacked him 36 minutes into the hour to jump-start the the match. He landed an early Coffin Drop off the entrance tunnel onto Mox. Mox took over nad knocked him over a railing. They brawled up the steps amongst fans. Darby dropkicked Mox, but bumped onto the stairs when he landed. “Is he a sick man or does he just want to feel alive?” asked Danielson. Darby got up and pursued Mox. Mox took over as fans chanted, “Darby! Darby!”
They fought at ringside for a few minutes. Darby dove through the ropes and tackled Mox into the coffin. He then raked Moxley’s eyes. Mox stepped out of the coffin and rolled into the ring. Darby entered the ring, too. Excalibur noted that was the first time Mox was in the ring after the match started seven minutes earlier.
Mox rolled to the floor. Darby dove through the ropes. Mox blocked him and then threw him onto the top of another coffin. Yuta, Danny Garcia, and Claudio Castagnoli showed up at ringside. When Yuta approached Darby, fans chanted, “F— you, Yuta!” Mox told them, “I’ve got this.” Marina stuck around and the rest walked to the back.
Mox slid a coffin into the ring. He slammed the lid on Darby’s fingers. Darby sold it with moans and groans. Mox mounted Darby on the coffin and punched away at him. Mox yelled that he works harder than everyone. He told Darby he lovcs him and kissed him. Danielson said, “Moxley told me he loved me too.” Some fans chanted “Darby Allin!”
Darby broke out of a sleeper and used a fork to gouge Mox’s ear and stab him around dozen times in the forehead. He then leaped off the top rope with a Coffin Drop on Mox at ringside. Mox’s forehead bled in in several streams.
Darby threw Mox back into the ring. Darby said, “I’ve been trying to be objective, but f— that! Go get him, Darby.” Darby leaped onto Mox in tnhe ring and then slammed the lid on Mox’s fingers and then stomped on them. Darby then gave Mox a Scorpion Death Drop. Mox made a production of popping his knuckles back into place.
Darby grabbed a metal pipe at irngside and brought it into the ring at 13:00. Mox took it away and swung at Darby. Darby blocked him and gouged his eye. He then twisted the fork into Mox’s ear and then bit it. Mox gave Darby a Death Rider onto the lid of the coffin.
Darby came back and put a plastic bag over Mox’s head. He then landed a Code Red. He put the plastic bag back over his head and bodystomped him over and over. Mox ripped the bag off of his head. Fans chanted, “This is murder!” Pac then showed up and kicked Darby. Pac then gave Darby a Razor’s Edge over the top rope onto a coffin at ringside. The lid cracked open upon impact. Pac then threw Darby back into the ring and dragged him over to the coffin.
Pac put Darby in a body bag and tossed him into the coffin. From his back, Mox kicked the lid of the coffin onto Darby to win the match.
The Death Riders returned to ringside and carried Darby away.
WINNER: Moxley in 19:00.
(Fans of this style and level of violence will be pleased for sure. Darby and Mox put on a dramatic, big-spot-flipped nearly 20 minutes battle. The finish is a mix of a “surprise return” and a “copout” finish where neither Mox or Darby got a one-on-one earned victory.)

(8) TONI STORM vs. KRIS STATLANDER vs. THEKLA vs. JAMIE HAYTER – AEW Women’s Title match
Yuta yapped at Statlander, continuing to try to recruit her. The bell rang 7 minutes into the fourth hour. Lots of action with all four in the early minutes. Statlander landed a moonsault off the ring apron onto Hayter at ringside. Storm landed a leaping DDT. Thekla then leaped onto all three opponents.
Back in the ring, Thekla attacked Hayter. She then whipped Storm her with her belt. Hayter went after Thkela. Thekla took over and did the crap walk. Storm entered the ring and stomped on her. Storm then landed a hip attack. Statlander and Hayter went after Storm. Hayter took out Stat and then gave a backbreaker to Storm. All four took turns hitting moves mid-ring at 6:00. All four ended up down and slow to get up, leading to applause from the crowd and then an “AEW!” chant.
Statlander gave a Saturday Night Fever to Thekla at ringside. Back in the ring, Strom gave Stat a German suplex and a hip attack. She followed with a Storm Zero for a near fall, sorta broken up by Hayter. (She didn’t break up the cover, but at least was between the ref and Storm covering Hayter so the ref couldn’t count to three.)
Hayter hit Haterade on Storm for a two count, broken up by Thekla. Thekla then applied a submission on the mat. Statlander then surprised Storm with a seatbelt leverage pin out of nowhere to end the match.
Storm looked on in shock as Harley Cameron ran out to celebrate with Statlander.
WINNER: Statlander in 12:00 to capture the AEW Women’s Title.
(Keller’s Analysis: Lots of action start to finish that was largely carried out effectively and dramatically. Not sure if Stat is the right person at this time to end Storm’s reign, as it feels like a step backward for the title to someone who has struggled to gain traction with a consistent character and fan investment in recent years. I hope they have something specific in mind for her to capitalize on the cache of being the one to end Storm’s reign.)
(9) BRODIDO (Brody King & Bandido) vs. JET SPEED (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) vs. THE YOUNG BUCKS (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. HECHICERO & JOSH ALEXANDER (w/Don Callis) – Ladder match for the AEW Tag Team Titles
The bell rang 30 minutes into the fourth hour. After everyone battled for two minutes. Jet Speed launched themselves over the top rope onto a crowd below. Bandido battled Matt Jackson in the ring. Nick held onto Matt to block a German suplex. Hechicero and Alexander tried to break him free. Brody then suplexed all three.
Matt landed a wrecking ball kick into a ladder into a Brody. Nick then leaped onto Brody a ringside. Knight then leaped off the top rope onto the Bucks at ringside. Bandido then leaped onto Knight.
Brody bridge a ladder at ringside. Bailey then moonsaulted onto Bandido on the ladder. Speedball played to the crowd. Back in the ring, Speedball began to set up a ladder. Alexander and Hechicero intervened. They leaned he ladder into the corner and then threw Speedball into it.
The Bucks eventually took over after several more wrestlers were tossed into the ladder in the corner. Brody then tossed them out of the ring and then dove through the ropes head-first. The Bucks, Alexander, and Hechicero held the ladder up and then Brody crashed head-first into it. Alexander whipped Brody into the ringside steps.
The heels set up a table at ringside. The Bucks set up a ladder in the ring, abandoning Hechicero and Alexander. and tried to quickly climb the ladder. Taz called it “a doublecross.” Alexander and Hechicero battled the Bucks in the ring. The Bucks rammed a charging Hechicero with the ladder in the ring and then rammed it into Alexander’s head. Jet Speed entered and wnt after the Bucks. Knight splashed a ladder that was on Nick and Matt. He sold the pain he inflicted on himself.
Brody entered and pulled Speedball off the ladder. Knight gave Brody a pendulum DDT. Jet Speed then took control. Nick leaped off the top rope and flipped onto a crowd at ringside. Knight, meanwhile, climbed the ladder. Matt pulled him down at 15:00. Matt reached for the belt on the ladder, but Jet Speed blocked him. Knight leaped, but Matt ran underneath him so Knight landed on Matt’s shoulders. (Blinked twice on that.) Brody knocked the ladder over, sending Matt and Knight onto the top rope.
Bailey climbed a ladder. Alexander stopped him. They exchanged slaps on the top of the ladder. Hechicero yanked on Bailey’s cool. Hechcero lay on the bridged latter and pulled Speedball backwards into a submission. Speedball slipped out of his grip. Excalibur said it could be due to Speedball being barefoot. Speedball flipped onto Hechicero and the landing was weird with Speedballs leg going through the ladder. The announcers reacted like someone could have gotten hurt, but everyone was fine.
Bandido powerbombed Alexander off the ladder onto a bridged ladder. Matt then gave Bandido a leaping spike DDT on the ring apron. Brody walked a ladder bridged at ringside and gave Bailey a leaping tombstone that broke the ladder. Excalibur did his “Un-be-lievable!” thing. They both went down and didn’t get up. Fans chanted, “This is awesome!”
Knight set up a ladder and climbed it slowly mid-ring. He really dragged it out until Matt met him at the top. (That was the worst moment of the match because it made no sense Knight couldn’t calculate better how to grab the belt during that nearly ten seconds alone.)

Back in the ring, Bandido climbed the ladder as Brody stood guard and pulled down both belts to win.
WINNERS: Brodido in 25:00 to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles.
(I had advocated for a more focused two-on-two ladder match or regular tag title match here, but man that was a display of dazzling, risky, amazing ladder spots with a lot of great athletes, including a mix of bodytypes and styles to add some variety.)
-After the match, Jack Perry entered the ring. After a brief staredown, Perry tackled Matt. Rocky Romero entered. Perry DDT’d him. The Bucks then stereo superkicks Perry. Danielson said that probably wasn’t smart to attack the Bucks on his own. Fans chanted, “You deserve it!”
Perry oddly smiled as the Bucks held him. The lights went out. A video played signaling the return of Luchasaurus as his partner. Back in the ring, the Bucks had Perry against the ropes. Luchasaurus had shown up and he double-chokeslammed both. Perry looked on and smiled. Fans sang their original theme song. Luchasaurus took off his Killswitch belt and whipped it into the crowd and let out a roar. Then Perry and Luchasaurus hugged and “Tarzan Boy” played. Fans sang along.
(The crowd ate up the reunion. Did they make the right call to have Perry be a babyface? Will that backfire or are the AEW loyalists over blaming him for C.M. Punk’s departure?)
-Mox kneeled next to the coffin and said it’s over. The rest of the Death Riders sped away in their pickup truck. Darby surged out of the coffin and shocked Moxley. He put Mox in a bodybag and zipped it. Then he pickd up the lead pipe and wound up to smash Mox’s head. Darby then sprayed the bodybag and lit it on fire. Mox flailed and panic as people ran in with a fire extinguisher. Darby was dragged away as Mox cried out in pain.
(Come on now.)
(8) TONI STORM vs. KRIS STATLANDER vs. THEKLA vs. JAMIE HAYTER – AEW Women’s Title match
Yuta yapped at Statlander, continuing to try to recruit her. The bell rang 7 minutes into the fourth hour. Lots of action with all four in the early minutes. Statlander landed a moonsault off the ring apron onto Hayter at ringside. Storm landed a leaping DDT. Thekla then leaped onto all three opponents.
Back in the ring, Thekla attacked Hayter. She then whipped Storm her with her belt. Hayter went after Thkela. Thekla took over and did the crap walk. Storm entered the ring and stomped on her. Storm then landed a hip attack. Statlander and Hayter went after Storm. Hayter took out Stat and then gave a backbreaker to Storm. All four took turns hitting moves mid-ring at 6:00. All four ended up down and slow to get up, leading to applause from the crowd and then an “AEW!” chant.
Statlander gave a Saturday Night Fever to Thekla at ringside. Back in the ring, Strom gave Stat a German suplex and a hip attack. She followed with a Storm Zero for a near fall, sorta broken up by Hayter. (She didn’t break up the cover, but at least was between the ref and Storm covering Hayter so the ref couldn’t count to three.)
Hayter hit Haterade on Storm for a two count, broken up by Thekla. Thekla then applied a submission on the mat. Statlander then surprised Storm with a seatbelt leverage pin out of nowhere to end the match.
Storm looked on in shock as Harley Cameron ran out to celebrate with Statlander.
WINNER: Statlander in 12:00 to capture the AEW Women’s Title.
(Keller’s Analysis: Lots of action start to finish that was largely carried out effectively and dramatically. Not sure if Stat is the right person at this time to end Storm’s reign, as it feels like a step backward for the title to someone who has struggled to gain traction with a consistent character and fan investment in recent years. I hope they have something specific in mind for her to capitalize on the cache of being the one to end Storm’s reign.)
(9) BRODIDO (Brody King & Bandido) vs. JET SPEED (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) vs. THE YOUNG BUCKS (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. HECHICERO & JOSH ALEXANDER (w/Don Callis) – Ladder match for the AEW Tag Team Titles
The bell rang 30 minutes into the fourth hour. After everyone battled for two minutes. Jet Speed launched themselves over the top rope onto a crowd below. Bandido battled Matt Jackson in the ring. Nick held onto Matt to block a German suplex. Hechicero and Alexander tried to break him free. Brody then suplexed all three.
Matt landed a wrecking ball kick into a ladder into a Brody. Nick then leaped onto Brody a ringside. Knight then leaped off the top rope onto the Bucks at ringside. Bandido then leaped onto Knight.
Brody bridge a ladder at ringside. Bailey then moonsaulted onto Bandido on the ladder. Speedball played to the crowd. Back in the ring, Speedball began to set up a ladder. Alexander and Hechicero intervened. They leaned he ladder into the corner and then threw Speedball into it.
The Bucks eventually took over after several more wrestlers were tossed into the ladder in the corner. Brody then tossed them out of the ring and then dove through the ropes head-first. The Bucks, Alexander, and Hechicero held the ladder up and then Brody crashed head-first into it. Alexander whipped Brody into the ringside steps.
The heels set up a table at ringside. The Bucks set up a ladder in the ring, abandoning Hechicero and Alexander. and tried to quickly climb the ladder. (10) “HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE vs. KYLE FLETCHER – AEW World Title match
The bell rang 16 minutes into the fifth hour. They faced off mid-ring. Fletcher had some words for Fletcher. They exchanged chops mid-ring. They fought to ringside and into the crowd and finally back to the ring.
Hangman climbed to the top rope, but Fletcher knocked him to the ground. Danielson said Hangman hesitated and you can’t do that against Fletcher. Fletcher powerbombed Hangman against the edge of the ring apron. Hangman cried out in pain and clutched his shoulder.
Fletcher stomped away at Hangman in the corner of the ring. Taz said he broke his neck when he wrestled, “but nobody gives a shit about that.” He said Fletcher’s gameplan is uimpressive. Fletcher went for a brainbuster on the ring apron, but Hangman escaped and clotheslined Fletcher into the ring. Fletcher, though, gave Hangman DDT off the ropes for a two count at 11:00.
As Fletcher continued the beating, Callis said Fletcher was “running up the score.” Fletcher applied a Boston Crab. Fletcher landed a running kick to Hangman’s chest in the corner. On a third charge, Hangman caught him with a lariat. Both were down and slow to get up.
Hangman took over and slingshot himself onto Fletcher at ringside. He landed a moonsault onto Fletcher next. He threw Fletcher into thering and powerbombed him twice for a near fall at 17:00. When Hangman flipped off the top rope a minute later, Fletcher kicked him out of mid-air and then landed a sitout powerbomb for a near fall. Cool sequence.
They battled at ringside. Hangman DDT’d Fletcher off the ring apron onto the mat at ringside. Both were down and slow to get up. Hangman climbed to the top rope and leaped, but Fletcher moved. Fletcher then landed a running kick to Hangman. He stood on the ringside barricade and landed a brainbuster suplex onto the table. Both were down and slow to get up.
Back in the ring, Fletcher landed a running kick to the back of Hangman’s head. Then he landed a brainbuster suplex for a two count at 24:00.
Hangman went for a sunset bomb, but Fletcher countered. They each landed kicks. Fletcher landed a running leaping knee for a two count. Fletcher then went for another suplex on the ring apron. Hangman slipped free, but Fletcher kicked him. Hangman absorbed it and then landed a leaping Deadeye off the ring apron through a table. Danielson said it’s the most dangerous Deadeye he’s ever seen. They replayed it three times from different angles. Both were down and slow to get up.
Back in the ring, Hangman went for a Buckshot, but Fletcher collapsed, so Hangman swung and missed. Both were down and slow to get up again. A “This is awesome!” chant rang out again. They both stood or reached the ropes at nine.
Hangman signaled for a running knee and then landed a V-Trigger. He lifted Fletcher onto his shoulders, but Fletcher slipped free. He superkicked Hangman, but Hangman countered into a Deadeye for a near fall. Again, both were down and slow to get up. They announced the match had gone 30 minutes. Fans reacted like that meant they might have to settle in for another 30. “This is a war guys,” said Callis. “There’s no other way to say it.”
Fletcher took over and landed a two count after a Hidden Blade. He went for a Tiger Driver, but Hangman turned it into a Crunchy for a near fall. Both were down and slow to get up again. Fans chanted, “Fight forever.”
They countered each other and then Hangman went for a Buckshot. Fletcher countered into a brainbuster for a near fall. Danielson stood and was shown yelling, “Hangman kicks out!” He added, “What an incredible match… Holy shit!” Fans chanted, “This is awesome!”
They battled back and forth a few more minutes. Fletcher set up a top rope brainbuster, but Hangman headbutted himself free. Hangman turned it into a top rope Deadeye. (That landing was nasty.) Hangman then gave Fletcher a Buckshot lariat to win.
Hangman had a few words for Fletcher afterward as Fletcher was still out on his back, likely thanking him for a great match.
WINNER: Hangman in 38:00 to retain the AEW World Title.
(Amazing match. Match of the night, beating out the Unified Title match earlier. They certainly pushed the limits of brushing off selling for miraculous recoveries after huge moves, but that’s an accepted main event style that works today. Fletcher has really advanced to being a young wrestler in his prime who can credibly be part of a PPV main event without question.)

WWE WRESTLEPALOOZA PLE Results: 9-20-25

(1) BROCK LESNAR (w/Paul Heyman) vs. JOHN CENA
Lesnar looked to be in possibly the best shape of his life. Cena came out onto the stage with about 40 kids all dressed like him and losing their little minds. Fortunately, they did not accompany him to ringside. Cena put his arm around Alicia Taylor as she introduced him. Just as Alicia Taylor began to introduce Lesnar, we heard a familiar voice say, “Ladies and gentleman…”. In a shocker, Paul Heyman came to the ring, high-fived Lesnar, and introduced him.Cena put his arm around Alicia Taylor as she introduced him. Lesnar immediately went on the attack as the bell rang. He battered Cena all over the ring, and visible welts appeared on Cena’s back. Lesnar hit a German suplex that sent Cena rolling out of the ring. He applied a bearhug from behind. Cena tried powering out but couldn’t get the job done. He managed to power out and lift Lesnar up for the AA, but Lesnar slipped out and clotheslined him out of his jorts. Another German suplex sent Cena sailing. Slow, steady pacing in this match.
Cena managed to drive Lesnar into the corner, then put him down after four shoulder blocks. He hit three consecutive AA’s, but Lesnar kicked out at two. He went into his “you can’t see me” routine, but Lesnar caught him and delivered three F5’s. Lesnar stood over Cena, then lifted him for a fourth F5, then smiled down at him. He hit two more F5’s, then easily pinned him.
WINNER: Brock Lesnar at 8:48.
(This was just a massacre. Cena got in a little offense, but it was all Lesnar from the opening bell. It did what I believe it was meant to do, which is show Brock Lesnar as an unstoppable beast.)
-After the match, Lesnar entered the ring and delivered an F5 to referee Dan Engler and another one to Cena. Kids dressed as Cena in the crowd were shown crying. A battered and beaten Cena slowly walked to the back to a “Thank you, Cena” chant.
(2) THE USOS (Jimmy & Jey) vs. THE VISION (Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed w/Paul Heyman)
Special referee LA Knight made his way to the ring, followed by The Usos making their way through a very enthusiastic Indianapolis crowd. They eventually stereo-yeeted to the ring, and the crowd asked them to run it back. They happily obliged. The Vision entered the ring to much less enthusiasm from the fans.
Reed started the match against Jey. The Usos immediately utilized their tag team chemistry to get the best of Reed, but they couldn’t keep the big man down. He tagged in Breakker, who went to work on Jey and mouthed off to Knight. Outside the ring, Reed was going to hit Jey with a chair, but Knight saw it. He dropped the chair after getting kicked in the gut. Jey picked it up, and Knight conspicuously turned his back as Jey slammed Reed across the back with it.
Breakker pulled the top rope down as Jimmy ran the ropes, and he tumbled to the floor. Breakker hit a missile-like shoulder block that about knocked Jimmy all the way to Terre Haute. Reed started to pull out a table, but then dropped it because the crowd was cheering for it. Breakker suplexed Jimmy hard to the mat, then broke the pin himself to show off with some pushups. Reed hit a crushing senton that almost made Jimmy become one with the mat. He set up a chair, but Jimmy tripped Reed face-first into it. Breakker went after Jey to effectively prevent the tag.
The Vision hit a bulldog off the top onto Jimmy for another two-count. Reed missed another senton, but Jey was still gathering his wits on the floor. Reed tried to splash Jimmy into a chair wedged in the ropes, but ate the steel himself when Jimmy moved. He finally got the hot tag on his brother, who came in with both guns blazing. He hit a hip attack on Breakker that was a little high and barely grazed him. Jimmy pulled out a table and slid it into the ring.
As they set it up, The Vision attacked them and set the table up in the corner. The Usos started going double superkick-crazy and nearly pinned Breakker with a 1D, but Reed broke it up. Reed missed a massive moonsault. Jey almost got the pin on Breakker after a splash, but only got two. Reed and Knight argued on the outside, but Jey leaped onto Reed. Jey and Knight argued. Knight almost ate a chair shot, but Jey pulled it at the last minute. Breakker double-speared a bloody Jey and his brother through the table that was set up in the corner. Reed hit the Tsunami on Jimmy for the pin.
WINNERS: The Vision at 16:51
(This was really good! Jimmy and Jey obviously haven’t lost a step as a team, and the Bron twins continue to improve and gel as a powerful team. There was some friction between the Usos and Knight at the end, but it surprisingly didn’t result in a ref bump. I wouldn’t mind seeing them run this match back.)
(3) STEPHANIE VAQUER vs. IYO SKY – Women’s World Championship Match
This was accidentally deleted. I will go back later and do my full report of this match.
WINNER: Stephanie Vaquer at 19:38 to capture the Women’s World Championship
(This was phenomenal! The crowd absolutely devoured this match. Both ladies fought hard and showed the locker room how it’s supposed to be done. (1) BROCK LESNAR (w/Paul Heyman) vs. JOHN CENA
Lesnar looked to be in possibly the best shape of his life. Cena came out onto the stage with about 40 kids all dressed like him and losing their little minds. Fortunately, they did not accompany him to ringside. Cena put his arm around Alicia Taylor as she introduced him. Just as Alicia Taylor began to introduce Lesnar, we heard a familiar voice say, “Ladies and gentleman…”. In a shocker, Paul Heyman came to the ring, high-fived Lesnar, and introduced him.Cena put his arm around Alicia Taylor as she introduced him. Lesnar immediately went on the attack as the bell rang. He battered Cena all over the ring, and visible welts appeared on Cena’s back. Lesnar hit a German suplex that sent Cena rolling out of the ring. He applied a bearhug from behind. Cena tried powering out but couldn’t get the job done. He managed to power out and lift Lesnar up for the AA, but Lesnar slipped out and clotheslined him out of his jorts. Another German suplex sent Cena sailing. Slow, steady pacing in this match.
Cena managed to drive Lesnar into the corner, then put him down after four shoulder blocks. He hit three consecutive AA’s, but Lesnar kicked out at two. He went into his “you can’t see me” routine, but Lesnar caught him and delivered three F5’s. Lesnar stood over Cena, then lifted him for a fourth F5, then smiled down at him. He hit two more F5’s, then easily pinned him.
WINNER: Brock Lesnar at 8:48.
(This was just a massacre. Cena got in a little offense, but it was all Lesnar from the opening bell. It did what I believe it was meant to do, which is show Brock Lesnar as an unstoppable beast.)
-After the match, Lesnar entered the ring and delivered an F5 to referee Dan Engler and another one to Cena. Kids dressed as Cena in the crowd were shown crying. A battered and beaten Cena slowly walked to the back to a “Thank you, Cena” chant.
(2) THE USOS (Jimmy & Jey) vs. THE VISION (Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed w/Paul Heyman)
Special referee LA Knight made his way to the ring, followed by The Usos making their way through a very enthusiastic Indianapolis crowd. They eventually stereo-yeeted to the ring, and the crowd asked them to run it back. They happily obliged. The Vision entered the ring to much less enthusiasm from the fans.
Reed started the match against Jey. The Usos immediately utilized their tag team chemistry to get the best of Reed, but they couldn’t keep the big man down. He tagged in Breakker, who went to work on Jey and mouthed off to Knight. Outside the ring, Reed was going to hit Jey with a chair, but Knight saw it. He dropped the chair after getting kicked in the gut. Jey picked it up, and Knight conspicuously turned his back as Jey slammed Reed across the back with it.
Breakker pulled the top rope down as Jimmy ran the ropes, and he tumbled to the floor. Breakker hit a missile-like shoulder block that about knocked Jimmy all the way to Terre Haute. Reed started to pull out a table, but then dropped it because the crowd was cheering for it. Breakker suplexed Jimmy hard to the mat, then broke the pin himself to show off with some pushups. Reed hit a crushing senton that almost made Jimmy become one with the mat. He set up a chair, but Jimmy tripped Reed face-first into it. Breakker went after Jey to effectively prevent the tag.
The Vision hit a bulldog off the top onto Jimmy for another two-count. Reed missed another senton, but Jey was still gathering his wits on the floor. Reed tried to splash Jimmy into a chair wedged in the ropes, but ate the steel himself when Jimmy moved. He finally got the hot tag on his brother, who came in with both guns blazing. He hit a hip attack on Breakker that was a little high and barely grazed him. Jimmy pulled out a table and slid it into the ring.
As they set it up, The Vision attacked them and set the table up in the corner. The Usos started going double superkick-crazy and nearly pinned Breakker with a 1D, but Reed broke it up. Reed missed a massive moonsault. Jey almost got the pin on Breakker after a splash, but only got two. Reed and Knight argued on the outside, but Jey leaped onto Reed. Jey and Knight argued. Knight almost ate a chair shot, but Jey pulled it at the last minute. Breakker double-speared a bloody Jey and his brother through the table that was set up in the corner. Reed hit the Tsunami on Jimmy for the pin.
WINNERS: The Vision at 16:51
(This was really good! Jimmy and Jey obviously haven’t lost a step as a team, and the Bron twins continue to improve and gel as a powerful team. There was some friction between the Usos and Knight at the end, but it surprisingly didn’t result in a ref bump. I wouldn’t mind seeing them run this match back.)
(3) STEPHANIE VAQUER vs. IYO SKY – Women’s World Championship Match

WINNER: Stephanie Vaquer at 19:38 to capture the Women’s World Championship
(This was phenomenal! The crowd absolutely devoured this match. Both ladies fought hard and showed the locker room how it’s supposed to be done. (4) SETH ROLLINS & BECKY LYNCH vs. CM PUNK & AJ LEE – Mixed Tag Team Match
World Champion Rollins and Intercontinental Champion Lynch came out to Rollins’s entrance music wearing matching outfits. They made a big show out of themselves and kissed in the ring. Punk came out to the stage to Cult of Personality, then Lee’s music hit to a big ovation. Lee skipped around the ring and waved at Rollins and Lynch, who were not amused.
The crowd chanted AJ Lee’s name as Rollins covered Lynch’s ears. Punk and Rollins faced off mid-ring and stared each other down, but Rollins backed into the corner and Lynch tagged in. She started jabbing Punk as he stood there and took it. Then he reached over and tagged his wife. Lynch ran over and slapped Punk, then ran to the outside. As she kissed her husband, Punk ran over and nailed Rollins. They fought on the floor for a bit before getting back in the ring.
Rollins got Punk in the corner, where Lynch choked him behind the referee’s back. Punk backed Rollins into the corner, where Lee returned the favor by gouging at Rollins. Punk hit a pair of axhandles off the top, but ate a knee when he went for a third. Lynch put her knee in Punk’s back as he hit the ropes, then threw him into the steps. An enraged Lee ran over and confronted Rollins, but the referee talked her back to her corner. Rollins put Punk on the announce desk and pounded on him before throwing him back in the ring.
Rollins continued beating on Punk and celebrating with his wife. Every time the referee turned her back, Lynch laid into Punk. Lee was going crazy in the corner. Punk reached for the tag, but Rollins held onto his arm. He put Punk in the corner and got Jessika Carr’s attention again, so Lynch could get her cheap shots in. The two tried suplexing each other several times, with Punk finally being able to deliver. Punk struggled to get to his corner, but Rollins cut him off and grounded him with a front facelock. Punk tried muscling his way to his corner and made the tag, but Lynch got in the ring to distract the referee, who didn’t see the tag. Rollins presses his wife over his head and threw her toward Punk, who moved out of the way.
Punk went to tag his wife, but Lynch ran over and knocked her off the apron before he could make the tag. Rollins began skipping around the ring to mock Lee, who was still lying on the floor. He kept skipping around the ring and skipped right into a GTS by Punk. A frantic Lynch tried slapping her husband in the face to wake him up. She ran into the ring and grabbed Punk’s foot to stop him from making the hot tag. He blew a kiss to Lynch as he easily reached over and made the white-hot tag. Lee climbed in and smiled brightly at Lynch before ripping into her. She straddled her on the ropes and rained down punches on her. She hit a body press for a two-count. The crowd chanted, “You still got it” as she windmilled Lynch in the corner.
Rollins spun her around and she started walloping him. She took down both him and Lynch at the same time. Rollins grabbed her around the waist from behind, but Punk grabbed her leg and flipped her over Rollins’s head, where she landed on a prone Lynch. That was a very cool spot. Lee locked in the Black Widow as Punk locked in a sharpshooter. Rollins escaped and lifted Lee, but she spun around and got the Black Widow on him. Rollins and Lynch hit stereo pedigrees, but couldn’t get the pin.
Rollins pumped up Lynch, telling her they were the best. They went for stereo GTS’s, but Punk and Rollins rolled to the floor as Lee hit a Becksploder. Rollins put his hands on Lee, but an enraged Punk hit a stomp on Rollins. Lynch began slapping Punk, who caught her hand, grabbed her leg, and went for a sharpshooter. Rollins stopped it and Lynch sank in a sharpshooter on Punk, who reversed the move on her. Rollins hit a stomp on Punk and went for the cover, but Lee hit a stomp on Rollins. Lynch then hit the manhandle slam on Lee for a two-count that Lee was just a bit late in kicking out of.
Lee started firing away on Lynch. The men pulled their wives apart, then started laying into each other. This time, the women pulled their husbands apart and went at each other. All four finally started battling and took it to the floor. Punk threw Rollins over the announce desk as Lee cleared the Spanish announce table. Lee told her husband to clear the other table, which he did. Lee and Punk went for a pedigree and manhandle slam, but they fought out of it. Punk went for a GTS on the announce table, but Lynch threw Lee into both men and the announce table collapsed. Lynch threw Lee back into the ring, but AJ swung around and sank in another Black Widow, which Lynch tapped out to.
WINNERS: CM Punk & AJ Lee at 29:13
(I didn’t think anything could follow Vaquer vs. Sky, but these two couples did it and did it well! This was just super fun to watch. Rollins and Lynch were despicable with their cheap shots. They milked the hot tag to Lee as long as they could, and it was well worth the wait. This match, like the previous one, overdelivered. I can’t imagine this match being any better. Rhodes and McIntyre have a LOT to live up to after these last two matches.)

-The American Badass theme played as The Undertaker rode his motorcycle to the ring to a big pop. He parked it right in front of Stephanie McMahon, who applauded him. He walked over to her and asked her if the seat next to her was open. He climbed over the barricade and sat next to her. He said he saw her in Vegas last week and now she’s here, too. He flirted with her a bit and asked her if she was ready. He said it was his esteemed honor to induct her into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026. A very emotional McMahon hugged him as the crowd cheered. She fought back tears as he left. She also got a hug from Nick Khan.
(5) CODY RHODES (c) vs. DREW MCINTYRE – Undisputed WWE Championship Match
Cody tried to take an early advantage, but McIntyre overpowered and overwhelmed him. He applied a headlock and dragged him over to the ropes. Rhodes fought out and the two exchanged hard blows mid-ring. He hit a bionic elbow and went for a Cody cutter. He hesitated briefly and grabbed his head, then successfully hit it. He continued to hesitate briefly and grab at his face as the referee checked on him. He hit a suicide dive on McIntyre to the floor, but McIntyre caught him on a second suicide dive and slung him over the announce desk.
Rhodes collapsed in the ring again, then got thrown with a couple of belly-to-belly suplexes. The announcers mentioned that Rhodes got his bell rung last night. McIntyre hit a massive reverse Alabama slam into the ring steps. Back in the ring, McIntyre pummeled the champ. He went to the top, but Rhodes jumped up with him and delivered a huge superplex. Rhodes smacked his head on the ring hard, and the announcers called attention to it.
The two again slugged it out mid-ring before Rhodes hit s snap powerslam. He continued to hold his head. He hesitated again before hitting another Cody cutter. He went for the Crossrhodes, but McIntyre fought out of it and nailed him with a Glasgow Kiss. Back to the top rope, McIntyre dropped Rhodes with White Noise, then kipped up. He went for a claymore, but Rhodes grabbed his legs and tried pinning him. McIntyre kicked out and hit another Glasgow Kiss, but Rhodes applied a figure-four. The challenger again fought out and ripped the pad off the top turnbuckle.
McIntyre inadvertently hit the exposed turnbuckle, then fell victim to a Crossrhodes, but kicked out at two. With Rhodes on the floor, McIntyre sailed over the top rope onto Rhodes. He followed that up with a claymore in the ring, but failed to hold him down for a three count. He got down to the floor with Cody and went for another claymore through the announce table. He hesitated as the referee discouraged him, then delivered it, but Rhodes moved and he crashed through the desk, injuring his leg. Back in the ring, he went for another claymore, but his leg gave out. Rhodes took advantage and hit a top rope Cody Cutter and a Crossrhodes for the victory.
WINNER: Cody Rhodes at 16:53 to retain the WWE Undisputed Championship.
(This was acceptable, but not a particularly memorable main event. Granted, they had their work cut out for them after the previous two matches, but as a standalone match, it was pretty mediocre. I don’t know if they didn’t have enough time left to do all they wanted to do, but it was a bit of a letdown.)

My quick thoughts on the matches in terms of storylines and characters:
Lesnar vs. Cena-The only way it could reasonably go down. Brock has a long term contract now and he will be around whether people like it or not. Cena will not be around much longer so it wouldn't make any sense for Lesnar to lose this match, especially if they want to rebuild him as a monster heel again. I don't know how I feel about him being the fourth member of the Vision, so maybe he won't be a part of what they're doing.
Usos vs. Brons-It was good but not spectacular. I'm getting tired of Bron always having to spear someone in every match. Good for a crowd pop but it's not as impressive as it used to be. Familiarity breeds contempt. When he did that Breakensteiner, lhe was falling backwards before he even clinched Uso with his ankles for the throw. It was impressive, maybe the coolest one I've ever seen him do, but it was also fucking dangerous as hell. Bronson pulling off a Tsunami by launching himself to the fucking middle of the ring was almost as crazy as Jelly Roll taking a splash from the top corner to the announce table. Reed has really come into his own as part of the Vision. Unfortunately, he's the only one benefiting from it. Jey Uso juicing hardway by pasting himself in the head with a chair is unironically funny to me. I was also thinking that after all the shit they've been doing to each other, it's a chair that is going to decide things? L.A. Knight is also lost in the shuffle here.
Sky vs. Vaquer-Wonderful match from start to finish. Enjoyed every minute of it. It was obvious Sky wasn't going to win the match and she didn't need to, given that it appears she's going to be feuding with Asuka soon, with poor, cute little Kairi caught in the middle. Vaquer is, like Sky, a rare talent and I look forward to the matches she's going to be having with some of the talented women on this roster. Her match with Rhea should be bonkers but I don't see Ripley winning that match. I really hope 'La Primera' isn't just a transitional champ. She is for real.
Punk/Lee vs. Rollins/Lynch-This was my favorite match of the night and a perfect example of how old school booking focused on storytelling can still be better than a million high risk high spots that do nothing to advance a story. Punk selling for Becky and Rollins selling for Lee was wonderful to see. Probably my favorite spot of the night was when Punk had Rollins up for a GTS on the announce table and Becky threw Lee from the other table into Punk to break it up, resulting in a bump that required all three of them to hit the table to get it to break lol. Punk being cheapshotted repeatedly by Lynch while the ref's back was turned was pure 90s era cheap heat schlock and every bit of it worked for me. Seth and Becky being a shitty heel power couple has been the best thing Seth has done since Punk returned to WWE. It has breathed new life into this feud and I love seeing Seth chew scenery like this. This evolution of their endless rivalry has rejuvenated my interest in it. This is VASTLY better than the Vision and, like Cena's heel turn, is just proof that Heyman didn't need to join him to make him fun to watch. All four of these people were having a blast in the ring together and I have to believe that whatever personal animosity might have existed between Punk and Rollins is now gone. Or, and hear me out here, we've been getting worked since before Punk left AEW.
Rhodes vs. Drew-Utterly disappointing match that effectively buried Drew. He can't beat a man suffering from a concussion in a high stakes match? Did we need to see yet another example of him being 'his own worst enemy'? Don't get me wrong, the match itself was fine. But to me, it was the wrong finish. Cody losing would have been a protected pin because of the concussion and Drew being a shitty heel and exploiting it makes all the sense in the world.

I don't know how I feel about him being the fourth member of the Vision, so maybe he won't be a part of what they're doing.
Usos vs. Brons-It was good but not spectacular. I'm getting tired of Bron always having to spear someone in every match. Good for a crowd pop but it's not as impressive as it used to be. Familiarity breeds contempt. When he did that Breakensteiner, lhe was falling backwards before he even clinched Uso with his ankles for the throw. It was impressive, maybe the coolest one I've ever seen him do, but it was also fucking dangerous as hell. Bronson pulling off a Tsunami by launching himself to the fucking middle of the ring was almost as crazy as Jelly Roll taking a splash from the top corner to the announce table. Reed has really come into his own as part of the Vision. Unfortunately, he's the only one benefiting from it. Jey Uso juicing hardway by pasting himself in the head with a chair is unironically funny to me. I was also thinking that after all the shit they've been doing to each other, it's a chair that is going to decide things? L.A. Knight is also lost in the shuffle here.
Sky vs. Vaquer-Wonderful match from start to finish. Enjoyed every minute of it. It was obvious Sky wasn't going to win the match and she didn't need to, given that it appears she's going to be feuding with Asuka soon, with poor, cute little Kairi caught in the middle. Vaquer is, like Sky, a rare talent and I look forward to the matches she's going to be having with some of the talented women on this roster. Her match with Rhea should be bonkers but I don't see Ripley winning that match. I really hope 'La Primera' isn't just a transitional champ. She is for real.
Punk/Lee vs. Rollins/Lynch-This was my favorite match of the night and a perfect example of how old school booking focused on storytelling can still be better than a million high risk high spots that do nothing to advance a story. Punk selling for Becky and Rollins selling for Lee was wonderful to see. Probably my favorite spot of the night was when Punk had Rollins up for a GTS on the announce table and Becky threw Lee from the other table into Punk to break it up, resulting in a bump that required all three of them to hit the table to get it to break lol. Punk being cheapshotted repeatedly by Lynch while the ref's back was turned was pure 90s era cheap heat schlock and every bit of it worked for me. Seth and Becky being a shitty heel power couple has been the best thing Seth has done since Punk returned to WWE. It has breathed new life into this feud and I love seeing Seth chew scenery like this. This evolution of their endless rivalry has rejuvenated my interest in it. This is VASTLY better than the Vision and, like Cena's heel turn, is just proof that Heyman didn't need to join him to make him fun to watch. All four of these people were having a blast in the ring together and I have to believe that whatever personal animosity might have existed between Punk and Rollins is now gone. Or, and hear me out here, we've been getting worked since before Punk left AEW.
Rhodes vs. Drew-Utterly disappointing match that effectively buried Drew. He can't beat a man suffering from a concussion in a high stakes match? Did we need to see yet another example of him being 'his own worst enemy'? Don't get me wrong, the match itself was fine. But to me, it was the wrong finish. Cody losing would have been a protected pin because of the concussion and Drew being a shitty heel and exploiting it makes all the sense in the world.
