I have a quick question. I want to repaint my 4 slot. I've got the color codes of this site, but I'm not sure if I can paint over the current vinyl or if I should strip it off. Just wondering what others have done, and if it's easy to strip the vinyl off and how you did it.

Thanks!

you need to pep the area to be painted.

so that means removing vinyl, repairing dents and stratches with bondo. sanding the area flat. Then apply thin layers of new paint till the desired coat.

Any tips for removing vinyl? Hair dryer or something like that?

When I prepped my 6-slot, I used a wire brush and some water.
I then sanded the whole thing to give a nice, rough surface.

Make sure you wash it properly and allow it to dry completely before you do any spraying.

Thin coat of primer, thicker coat of paint (car paint) then several coats of laquer.

Don't be in a rush. Let every coat dry.

Alternatively, you could have it powder coated for a hardcore finish.

I don't think a hair dryer would do it. You'll probably need a heat gun.

Heat gun, but you have to be VERY careful not to melt or burn the vinyl. That makes it even harder to get off the cabinet.
