I keep talking myself out of a PGM and you're not helping.
Motherboards are still cheap enough and there are only a half dozen must haves. It's a wild library with variants, regional variants, and hacks.

Get Demon Front, The Gladiator, Martial Masters, KoV 2 Nine Dragons and Oriental Legend Super Special.

There are other good titles, but those are the 5 to get unless going for a full set.

The hardware is shit though. Every time you change games you feel like you’ve going to break the mobo and the cart contacts are super finicky so you end up having to reseat it several times. Everything feels super cheap and flimsy.
Not my experience. I would say PGM is more reliable than MVS which is also pretty reliable.

I'd say add the cave boots to that list too

Could you be kind enough to point out the label for Oriental Legend Super Special?

My eldest kid is in the midst of picking colleges so it was a goob time for a mid-life crisis project. Picked up a Vewlix FC locally a few months ago that needed some parts and whatnot + some game fun, which is fairly complete at this point.

Also, thanks @FeetJerky for the board room attire assist. :keke:

I would find an excuse to wear a tie if I owned that.

I decided that using carts was too fast, life moves too fast, and it's best to slow that down by goobing the F out and getting a twin fami turbo and some jank disks. The loading of the games and flipping them from one side to the other was enough to finally get the divorce proceedings initiated.
Finally finished installing an NESRGB kit and was able to mount a 8 pin DIN where the RF one existed so the case is untouched and can use my neo scart cable

I wish disk system wasn't so jank as it's such a neat piece of tech

I've hardly had any problems with my FDS and Famicom Twin. A few of the 30+ disks I bought 20 years ago didn't work, but otherwise the loading and disk flipping isn't bad at all. Great system.

I like using an FDS stick if the disk fails, so that way I'm still on real hardware, minus the drive. Bad disk stays in the collection, game gets played.
