yeah I came in too late as a noob to get the dealz, so instead of burning tens of thousands of dollars in a single videogame like our european brethren I only own small tymer stuff such as: mvs carts, home ownership, a car, etc. keke

Paid more for it in the end but indeed I clearly remember there was a time in which this was going for cheap alongside magician lord, nam 1975, and company.

It always blows my mind nowadays a good shape copy of magician lord sets you back several hundreds.

Ugh, and about 20 years ago I sold a NOS copy of Magician Lord I bought from the neostore for $40. I sold it for just $35 because I like to give people a good price when I sell stuff.

Oh well. That's far from my worst mistake selling stuff for peanuts decades ago, but I won't dwell on it too much.

What I never understood though is why ANYONE ever wanted a "US" copy of a NEO•GEO game they knew was just a Japanese copy some random weirdo printed shoddy stickers and inserts for.

When Capcom decided to only release the Dreamcast version of Capcom vs SNK 2 in Japan, I just bought a Japanese copy even though the rest of my collection was US. I wouldn't have had any interest in pretending it's a real "US" copy if some random weirdo throws out the Japanese booklets & inserts and prints his own in English.

Weirdly he might actually have had the rights to be an official distributor for some games in English e.g. KOF 2000

Who wrote the gooby manual for him I wonder.

Yes, he did have the right to do it for some games. I just never understood even back then why anyone wanted it.

I never doubted that he had permission. But if your complete set of "English" games consists of Japanese games that had their labels removed by a random goof and kinkos stickers placed on top, maybe your English set should end when the bankruptcy began.

Man, we are getting old, and I'm tired. Now, you and I know there's only one color for a Neo Geo, but the world is moving on without us and they're re-releasing our favorite console. They're making more than one color because of course they are -- They do multiple colors and special editions of everything now. People are going to goob whatever they want to goob. There's no point, my friend.
