Apart from jokes, for whom bought the white version I hope in 2026 there are some sort of new production methods that can create white plastic goods that don’t yellow as much as consoles from the early 00’s.

I ordered the white and I’m cautiously optimistic it won‘t look as shitty in person as it does in the renders. Since I have a black console already, I suppose it’ll be ok to have another that’s easily differentiated. If I end up hating it I can always pick up a black one down the line.

I suspect a red MVS-themed version will be coming later too. I think red would look even worse on a home system though.

I’m definitely eager to see exactly what differences we’ll see on AES+ carts vs OG carts. Will they be close enough to fool newcomers (as far as labels, inserts, etc)? Can’t wait til we see some functioning products and teardowns.

Well for once carts and cases won’t be likely sporting the “Made in Japan” moulding typical of the OG’s on case and back of the carts.

I understand why some don't like the white, its all preference after all but red really does sound awful, i love my big red cab but i doubt the AES can pull that off well. Also i have several white consoles from the 90s including super famicoms and Dreamcast etc and have never had one go yellow on me, but i know it happens, i do keep my stuff out of direct sunlight though.

Took Plaion a while, finally got my order cancelled. PO'ed from local EB instead. I can pick it up on release date. Sweet ass.

How many days did it take to get a reply? I emailed about 10 days ago and so far no response.

But in my case, I don't want to cancel the whole order, and want to keep the Ultimate.

Accidentally ordered 2 ultimate bundles day one. Took till today to get a response to amend my order to only 1. Didn't want to loose my spot in line, or I would have cancelled and recorded.

For the record, Plaion Replai support did finally change my order as requested, so all good. Took over 2 weeks, so they aren't kidding about the number of orders and requests.

I've preordered Slug 1 and an oldstyle directly from Plaion and added an Amazon order for Shock Troopers yesterday. Not going to cancel the Plaion order, if it takes a few days more I'm not gonna die. I guess.

I've decided to leave it there for now and wait for the next round of reissues to see if there are more games like Shock Troopers in line that weren't available on homecart before. Crossed Swords 2 would be one, although there might be a problem with the music coz the CD music is really lavish, well produced and adds a lot of atmosphere to the game, not sure if this would work with a cart version. It prolly would if they decided to kick the easy method with scratchy samples and only a handful of FM drums (RotD, KoF2k2 and other new-era titles come to mind) and use proper FM compositions/arrangements again with just a few drum samples instead of muddy-sounding and rather boring loops.
