Hello, everyone!

This is my first post here, so please be gentle😅

With the games most likely releasing in waves of 10 every 6 months - or even annually, I'm wondering what everyone's next "perfect 10" list for the NEO•GEO AES+ would be.

Here is my list for the next 10 games that I hope they release next:

• Metal Slug 3

• Samurai Shodown

• Samurai Shodown II

• Last Resort

• Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers

• NAM-1975

• Baseball Stars 2

• King of Fighters 98

• World Heroes 2 Jet

• The Last Blade 2

[I may have posted this in the wrong thread last time]

Stuff I did learn from the Plaion FAQ Goob video

- Analogue AV output is stereo. (Okay great, no one wants mono, but 99% of buyers will be using hdmi anyway)
- Games will come with a manual in the box. (Better come with a baggie too or expect nerd rage)
- The shininess of the cartridge and console make it looks pretty cheap compared to the original, also the ease at which he chucks them about makes me think they are very light (but these might just be empty display prototypes)

I agree about how easily he is handling the mock-up.

The console itself & the game cartridge are most likely empty, given how easily he is moving them around. Perhaps the main silicon isn't finished yet?

The finished one is going to be a tiny PCB in the middle of an empty shell.

I've preordered Slug 1 and an oldstyle directly from Plaion and added an Amazon order for Shock Troopers yesterday. Not going to cancel the Plaion order, if it takes a few days more I'm not gonna die. I guess.

I've decided to leave it there for now and wait for the next round of reissues to see if there are more games like Shock Troopers in line that weren't available on homecart before. Crossed Swords 2 would be one, although there might be a problem with the music coz the CD music is really lavish, well produced and adds a lot of atmosphere to the game, not sure if this would work with a cart version. It prolly would if they decided to kick the easy method with scratchy samples and only a handful of FM drums (RotD, KoF2k2 and other new-era titles come to mind) and use proper FM compositions/arrangements again with just a few drum samples instead of muddy-sounding and rather boring loops.

I wonder if because of cheap flash memory they can just chuck the whole CD audio on cart?

The Neo has a memory limit of some 12xx MBits max., iirc. 1 MBit = 128Kbyte, so 1200summat MBits would be around 130 MB, not sure if that would be enough for all that stuff. Then again, the audio tracks would have to be bit-reduced anyway so who knows, might work.

Ah, must be the FPGA bit in a NeoSD Pro that allows for the CD audio then.

Not sure how the NeoSD is built but indeed there would need to be some sort of additional hardware to make the carts being able to reproduce higher quality/CD music. The YM2610 wouldn’t be able to assist.

Iirc Kraut Busters I heard that uses some sort of HW trickery in order to play high quality music but don’t quote me on that, never owned that stuff myself.

Bank switching for the V roms. Games would need re-coding for the new music, so it won't happen.
