easiest way to get your own Star Ocean is with the Infinite NES Lives repro board and kazzo programmer.
Get the 12MB board for $26, and a programmer for SNES for $20.

This way, you don't have to sac a real Star Ocean board, which are becoming expensive and harder to find.
I am familiar with them, although cases are cheap as fuck.
Too bad Retrozone don't sell the empty cases to their repos, it looks like a hybrid of the US and Japanese cart shells and would physically fit both systems fine.

Retrozone used to sell a the Repro Star Ocean cart made from all new parts, no donor carts but they discontinued the product.
