Good if you are a newcomer to the series. I'll probably skip this just because I own digital versions of 4 and 5 on PS3 and I still have the original PS1 versions of the first three games. But its not a bad deal for an extra 30 bucks on top of RE6.

The 360 version isn't quite as good, but not terrible either. It has CV at least, but I hate that game so I don't really care.

This is one I'm probably going to skip as well. I bought the 15th anniversary boxed set from Japan for PS3, the one that cake with a physical copy of RE 4 and RE: CV on BD and it came with old PSX copies of 1, 2 and 3 with new labeling and the box even has an extra space for 5 if you want to slide it in and have the 'main' games in a single box. I'm good with that, I think.

The price piont for this version of 6, with all these other games, is nice. It'd be cool to see the GC versions on other consoles but, well, not likely to ever happen.

I heard that Mercenaries is going to be playable from the start with RE 6, and that there will be other play modes besides campaign and Mercenaries. Curious about that.

Also, I guess you'll be able to use skill points to customize your builds of the characters. Each campaign is going to take roughly 8 hours, and as with 5 when you go back and play with Sheva, you can go back and play the three campaigns with the sidekick characters to see a bit of a different side to the story, sort of like a minor 'zapping system' from RE2. Also, each story is going to be self contained so that if you never play the other campaigns, you don't really miss anything from the campaign you choose to play.

Of course, who would buy RE 6 and not play through the three campaigns at least once? That would be odd.

This thread will grow to at least 5 pages filled with Capcom hate, detailing how the company is screwing its "fans".

I wish Id bought that collection Taiso was talking about last year when it was released.

By the way, where did you hear that info about the new Mercs mode?

Having never played Resident Evil 5 or Code Veronica, I think I may get this for the 360. Those 2 games alone are surely worth the extra $30.

I played the hell out of RE4 on the gamecube, but i no longer own it, so to have that again is a nice added bonus!

Probably will never watch the movie though

The devs talked about it during this gameplay vid. There's a Q&A session afterwards.

Id heard it will be open from the start but I didnt know you will be able to level up characters. Cant you do that in the 3DS Mercs game too?

Yeah, you can level up your characters in Mercenaries 3DS. You accomplish certain objectives and unlock the abilities. Once you equip the abiltiies, they have their own experience meters. The longer you play through stages with the ability equipped, the more XP it gains. And you can swap them out as you pleaase to deal with problems as the stage demands. There are also different weapon loadouts you can give the characters, unlocking each character's weapons for use by other characters as you go. Costumes, too.

I never really got into the Mercenaries mode of Revelations, but it looked to be fairly robust and time consuming so I set it aside for 'later.' That moment has yet to come.

I've long suspected that Mercenaries 3D and Revelations were sort of 'test beds' for the ideas they'd be using in the next major RE release. I think the pacing, the intersecting narrative and the switches between survival horror and action will mirror Revelations very closely. I still can't believe they packed that amazing game into a 3DS cart.

Since I no longer own any RE games, I will be buying the Anthology edition for PS3.

Sucks that RE: DC, RE2, and RE3 won't be on the 360. I guess the effort it would take to port the code to the 360 isn't worth it when you can just cobble already-done shit together to squeeze an extra buck from your fans. No thanks.

I'm fucking pumped for RE6, though. I want to play with Taiso and Nap online. Bitches don't even know about my RE skills...

I'm always down to play some 5 in the meantime (provided I'm available.) I still love 5 and can play it any old time. I just don't do versus because it's an awkward mode for a game that is designed for co-op. Doesn't really feel 'right' for that game.

Although I have to admit I'd be a little startsruck to play with you. I'll just have to overcome my insecurities and hope I meet your bar of worthiness.

If they still have this for sale a year from release date and they drop it on a Black Friday to something like $40, I'll be all over it.

The JPN collection Taiso owns looks awesome from the pics he's posted in the past. It would have been nice for them to put all the originals in disc form like the MGS or other recent Anthologies/Collections.

Shame that the PS3 version doesn't include CV, great game. I remember disliking it a lot when it first came out but after spending a bit of time with it I ended up loving it.

why didn't they add CV to the PS3 version? even though it doesn't have a number next to the name, it's actually Resident Evil 3. iirc, Capcom had to make at least one more RE game for the PS1 per some kind of contract with Sony at the time, so they put a side story together for Jill and called it RE3. RE3 isn't a bad game, but i dont think it's actually RE3, thats only the name it had to be given.

I disagree. RE 3 is the final chapter in the saga of the Raccoon City T-virus outbreak. It's appropriately named.

If RE 3 would have never come out, then CV would be the logical RE 3, since it combines characters from 1 (Chris) with characters from 2 (Claire) as playable in the same game.

But the numbering convention is, IMO, better as it stands as the three part Raccoon City trilogy.

I guess this might be better as a whole seperate thread...but what exactly distinguishes the numbered games in the series from the non-numbered ones? is there any consistent logic or reasoning that determines this?

I know its kind of a dumb question considering there are a ton of RE games...but just wondering if there was a simple straightforward answer...

This sounds like a worthwhile collection, especially since I passed on the recent HD remakes. It will be nice to have them all in one place. Too bad there's no 0 or 1 remake in there, that would have just been too good to be true I suppose. Can't wait for 6; I'm deadly in an RE game.

None-numbered RE you games that you should consider playing:

RE: Code Veronica, RE Remake (GC, Wii), RE0 (GC, Wii) and RE Revelations (3DS).

These play similarly to the numbered games, and have direct story ties with them.

Besides those, there are:

Resident Evil Gun Survivor on PS1: First person with GunCon support
Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2 on PS2: On-rail shooter
Resident Evil Out Break 1 & 2 on PS2: Online multiplayer games
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles + Dark Side Chronicles on Wii (coming soon to PS3 in HD too): On-rail shooters
Resident Evil Mercenaries on 3DS: spin off based on Mercenary Mode, which can be found in the later games. It's basically a score-based online mini-game.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccon City on PS3 & XBox360: online multiplayer game

There might be other spin off's, but that's all I can think of now.

PS: The Wii version of RE4 has Wii-mote aiming controls. I personally found it as a much better experience than the original controls.

Also, Resident Evil: Director's Cut was basically the same Resident Evil 1 on PS1 with revised enemy locations, uncensored cutscenes and some minor additional content. RE: Remake, however, was a complete remake on GC. RE0 (a prequel) also has similar graphics to the RE Remake.

I seriously want like $5 for every time you post about Black Friday. That would be hot!

Dude, you'd be rich! It'd probably add up to an AF3 US home cart.

That's almost the only way I buy movies, games, or anything else electronic nowadays. Unless it's a lightning deal. I'm not quite the "cheapassgamer" but pretty close to it. If I can't use it immediately, there's no way I'm paying full price for it.

I'll be picking up RE6, but I'll save myself the money and skip this release. I've owned physical copies of all those for a while and with the first three games, I got those for free through PS+. I'm sure Plus users will get CV and 4 for free at some point, too.

Can you select English for the psx and ps3 versions of Biohazard? Just curious.

Voice is in English, even in Japan. But the menus are all Japanese and not changeable.
