Leon was more careful about that through the whole game than you might have thought. He's teaching the Super Tyrant how to drive right now.

Unless he's giving motorcycle lessons, I wouldn't take any driving tutelage from one Leon S. Kennedy.

I'd take acting lessons from him, especially for hamming things up...

There's this trend on social media by effeminate Leon stans where they put him in other video games and he outdoes that game's MC on one liners.

The gay Leon love is gay but I admit this trend is amusing.

Do I have to play 5, 6, 7, or 8 to enjoy and understand 9?

Nope. All you really need is to have played 2 and understand Leon as a character in general terms. and his connection to Sherry which is given a minor spotlight in 6 but can be skipped without really missing anything.

In fact, I'd say avoiding some of the other games will help you to question what happens in some of this game less.

Gotcha. I’ve been meaning to play 7 and 8 since I got a PS5 but haven’t gotten around to them. But I’ll probably go straight to 9 for now.

7 and 8 are decent games. I like 8 more than 7 but in my opinion, both stretch pretty hard to connect themselves to the series as a whole.

At least 8 has Chris Redfield in it and he's a central character in the game but you mostly still play as Ethan Winters. I'd say that my favorite part of that game is when you get to play as Chris when the Wolves storm the village near the end. Wish there'd been more of that, if I'm being honest. 8's Mercenaries mode is ass though, and as someone that loves the replay value that Mercenaries brings to the games I was disappointed in it. 6 has the best Mercenaries mode in the entire series, hands down. 6 has the best actual gameplay in the series, actually, but the campaigns are all dreadful. If 5 had 6's gameplay, it'd be the best game in the series without a doubt.

Picked up RE0 on the cheap.

Don't think I played this before, or if I did it was VERY brief and not for long at all.

I slapped the OG PS1 RE on my Vita and tried giving that a go, but as much as I love that game and how nostalgic it is, that was a tough one. The atmosphere and vibes are still perfect Horror game stuff, but those controls are just better left in the past for sure.

6 is just hot garbage. No joke, I played it for an hour at release and then have never gone back to it.

It is the only main line RE game I have never completed. I was really worried they had screwed the pooch with that one.

Fortunately, they redeemed themselves with 7.

I'd love to see a future installment that goes back to having Jill and Chris as the main characters.

Playing through REmake and holy shit does this still hold up.

I took to the tank controls cinematic perspective almost immediately, but since I played the first four games a ridiculous amount of hours, that was just muscle memory waiting to be recalled. You CAN play with 'modern' controls but it just doesn't feel right to me given how I approach those fixed camera angel games due to my play experience.

The thing that impresses me the most is the sheer graphical fidelity. This game looks better than most things coming out today and I think it has to do more with lighting and color scheme than anything else. And this game is still super creepy. The uncertainty of some of the camera angels really lend themselves to the kind of dread the experience is going for.

Kinda makes me wish they'd remade 2 and 3 like this as well, but I know that ship has long sailed.

All of that said....yeah, give me a modern remake of Resident Evil with Chris and Jill. Or give me a NEW game where they're working together again after the events of Resident Evil 5. Bring it full circle. Or both, even. I'm here for it.

Also, I still really love the original game quite a bit. But not Director's Cut. That game's OST makes it nearly unplayable and kills the mood. If they were to restore the original, vastly superior OST and the original opening cutscene sans censorship, I'd probably think more highly of it.

Just done my third playthrough of 9.

Down to 10 hours now... fuck trying to release elpis in under 4... that takes some commitment. Annoying that the game makes you pay for all your upgrades again, unlike previous RE's where they'd let you take your upgrades into the next playthrough.

Not sure how you're supposed to unlock some of the bonus upgrades... doesn't seem mathematically possible or are you supposed to just keep starting the game totally fresh?

Still too many cheap deaths and not enough consistency in what some zombies take to kill.

Directors cut has the original music fyi. It is the dualshock version that has the dumbass music. Funny the guy pretended to be deaf but accidentally put the wrong font for music. Since he was suppose to be deaf he couldn't speak up lol. What a goober.

for anyone who wants to play re1-3 download the og game and add the classic rebirth patch. Allows you to customize resolution, have 180 degree turn like re3 in re1/2 , and turn on or off auto aim. Also has a fun randomizer mode.

Requiem is indeed awesome, but I mostly suck at it. Got very stuck last night trying to get the final piece of the bomb before Leon's wild ride. How the heck do I get the last part that's all the way to the west?

Have you been to the gas station, got the fuel can, fuel and restarted all the dead generators?
