Honestly, that's how it feels like. With very few exceptions, the mayority of modern video games are complete and utter shitshow. I would much rather spend my time with older consoles than newer ones, which are pretty much consolized PCs.

Best I can tell with wayback this has been up since early 2007. 19 years later the word has been stripped of all value and meaning, reduced to a trendy buzzword for endless grifting and cash grabs.

Its the cost of making games is much higher now than in the 90s so less risks are taken and hence sequels (COD, Monster Hunter, GTAs) reign supreme.

It’s fine there’s plenty of good games I missed first time round.

There's plenty to play these days between discovering some rare title that was never localized and the slew of translations getting released on classic platforms. The occasional new retro releases like Earthion and Deathwish Enforcers are also great.
