He's been retired from moviemaking for a while but sad to hear nonetheless. Assuming you've seen his Lovecraft movies, everybody go watch Robot Jox in his honor. Or the equally corny Fortress with Christopher Lambert.

Fortress is awesome. What a cast! Fortress 2 is not so good...

5. Honey I Shrunk the Kids (i consider it one of his, and loved it as a kid)

1. Re-Animator (This is a given, right?!)
Honorable mentions to King of the Ants, Dolls, Stuck, Dagon and Castle Freak. I saw Castle Freak when I was far too young and it left an impact. Grimey film.

Hard to argue with that list. His movies were always a cut above the average B movie quality, and Re-Animator is a bonafide classic.

Gordon really knew how to do a lot with a limited budget. Re-Animator largely takes place on 3 sets (morgue, dean's house, apartment) but it feels much bigger. Same with From Beyond, Fortress and Castle Freak. A guy like Gordon would probably be making Marvel movies if he started 10 years ago but if his experience on HIStK is any indication, he was much happier just doing local theater.
