This Halloween I want to go back to the classics. Currently I'm shopping around for inexpensive DVD versions and this is what I've got so far:

Taste The Blood Of Dracula (Lee)

Creature From The Black Lagoon

Phantasm (I know the Phantasm movies inside out, just wanted to get them on DVD)

...?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Most of these are obvious but you never know what people may not have seen...

Universal Monster movies (not scary but they're great Halloween movies)
Hammer films (Christopher Lee Draculas and a lot of sexploitation stuff)
Anything John Carpenter from Halloween through They Live
Italian Giallo movies (Zombi, Suspiria, other Argento/Fulci, etc.)
Romero's Dead movies (but mostly Night/Dawn)
Evil Dead 2
Re-Animator
I've always had a soft spot for The Blob remake from the 80s
Exorcist
Cronenberg movies (Fly remake, Videodrome, Scanners, Rabid)

Some of the Hellraiser sequels are a guilty pleasure.

Wes Craven's Swamp Thing is a fun campy horror flick. Not a lot to do with the comics but still decent.

Have you seen Martin? I think it's Romero's best. Interesting take on vampires.

Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween 1-4.

There was some witchcraft movie from the 20's that AVGN talked about last year..... Forgot the name but it looked creepy as hell.

John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness (1987) is super underrated.

The 4k restoration of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is absolutely stunning.

Have you seen Dead/Alive aka Braindead?

Technically 90s but they don't get much trashier than Dead Alive. I served our guests tapioca pudding while watching Dead Alive during our annual movie marathon a few years back.

Problem is the DVD and Blu Ray are both out of print and go for stupid money on fleabay.

Try to find some of those box sets that have a bunch of different horror movies in them. More often than not, there are some gems in there, and they cost you only about a few bucks.

Here's the first one I have.

Here's the second.

^^This one has a movie with a young Gerald McCreaney playing a serial killer.

The collections are hit and miss, but I've always liked schlock cinema anyway, so it was money well spent.

Ah, Halloween. I love October, cheap horror DVDs everywhere! Do you have a Poundland equivalent in Germany? Poundland in the UK always have loads of great horror DVDs leading up to Halloween.

My Bloody Valentine

The best thing about the remake in 3D coming out a few years ago is that the original also got released on DVD with 2 and a half minutes worth of footage that was cut from the original release.

edit: and as I mention every year, Pet Sematary 2. That film legit scared me as a kid. I know it's 90s but this was Clancy Brown's best performance imo.

I wasn't aware that they released it on Blu Ray. I'm glad I got my DVD when I did, then.

I have the Blu Ray but I don't really like it because it's the shorter US cut. No gore cut, but I still prefer to watch my UK Braindead DVD release.

Finally saw Sleepaway Camp and I have to say...it was great. That twist ending was insane!
