Part of the Gradius Origins collection (coming to all platforms).
Physical copies coming from LRG.

I was hoping the Origins collection would have Gradius Gaiden but unfortunately doesn't look like it's included. Sucks that the only time that game has been published outside of Japan was in the Gradius collection on psp.

Looks fantastic! New Salamander III!

All the different versions of the main games is great. Glad they have the good version of Salamander (japan). Would have liked to see more obscure versions of Gradius on there, like Rebirth or Galaxies. Oh and Gradius IV, that game is very inaccessible for a lot of people. Other than emulation or real hardware, the only other way to play is in the Gradius Collection on PSP, and the Gradius III + IV compilation disc on PS2.

But still, looks like a solid collection.

Super hyped for Salamander 3. The 1st is one of my favorite shmups. Konami really has been great with these collections

Salamander III was a legit big surprise for me in this collection... But why people insist on partnering with LGR for the physical edition? Are they so lazy to make those physical copies themselves?

Konami already has an existing relationship with them. The games aren't mainstream enough for a full-blown retail release on store shelves, and of the boutique publishers, LRG are far from the worst.

LRG keeps getting bigger, as the rest of the physical game market contracts. Therefore I'm afraid that LRG will be one of the main remaining physical game publishers before long.

Either LRG will be in retailers like Best Buy or Target, or those places will stop carrying games, and games will become mail order-only. Whichever comes first.

I would have prefered Xexex in physical format tho
It wouldn't surprise me if they're already planning a second collection with Xexex, Axelay, Gradius Gaiden, IV, V, and perhaps even Rebirth, Galaxies, and the old Game Boy titles. Maybe we'll see M2 make an all-new Gradius to original Game Boy specs just because they feel like it.

Either way, this first collection is cool. I go back and forth on Gradius games but I've always liked Lifeforce. And I really enjoyed what M2 did with GG Aleste 3.

Yea this almost feels like a ShotTriggers release. I'll be in for it.
It literally is a ShotTriggers release.

edit: Or I am confusing it with Operation Night Strikers. It's crazy how much awesomeness hit at about the same time. I think they both are though.

Shame my dream “game printing on demand / publicly funded runs” business model never happened, but we know why… fomo models work better for a legion of mouthbreathers that buy shiny boxes that are incidentally games, those could be literally anything with manufactured value and rarity. Movie physical releases suffer from the same thing, plain Blu-rays won’t sell as well as fancy boxsets for the same movie.
