The building itself was built for this purpose this year and was easily several million, clearly the budget for this place is large. It says “Big” on the front which I guess stands for Best in Gaming. If ANYONE buys these Exa things it would be a place like this. I’m hoping to play the most expensive version of Samurai Showdown ever released when they get it.

Remember when you looked at a closed gathering space and didn't immediately think it's a bad investment because of Covid restrictions?

I want to go back in time.

No kidding. I guess the upside is that they at least knew about COVID for most of or maybe all of the construction and some of the investment phase. They had a chance to alter their plan slightly here and there if they were smart. They aren’t going to build a normal bar in there and then close off half the seats for opening day…one would hope. I don’t know. Rich people are really fucking dumb a lot of the time. It could be that COVID is the reason the building is so bloody huge.

Also to their credit I will say that it’s smarter to build this in Ann Arbor than say Miami or whatever. People are a lot more careful about masks and shots and standing far away from either other in Ann Arbor. They at least will be able to get staffing if not customers. :)

I never knew this platform even existed. The prices seem absolutely bonkers. I'll just stick to playing SamShoV perfect on my PC.

What, you don’t buy industrial grade everything? You don’t have laundromat machines at home? You don’t change your oil on a 20,000 lb hoist in your six bay garage? You don’t use a fork truck to get your games out of storage? Well then yeah, you wouldn’t need this to play a Neo ROM. You need this to make thousands of dollars off a Neo ROM which isn’t legal with your PC.

The rom is legal. It's part of the newer SamSho Collection that I purchased on Epic Games. I doubt there is much difference between Final and Perfect. And I do have some Commercial grade stuff. I have a Big Red, PVM, CPS2 and Jamma Boards etc. I was stating that the price is too high for what it is.

The ROM in a consumer game collection is not licensed for arcade use and is priced accordingly. That was my point.

They opened a place like that here before the pandemic hit. Had all that dumb bullshit in it. It got shut down almost immediately because of multiple gang related shootings. Not the kind of place you want to take your family. It was also expensive as fuck.

Places like that are a mecca for human trash. Much like casinos, malls and fairs.

Well that's certainly not a reply I was expecting for his post

Well part of it is where they decided to open it. It was either in an old mall or on the same location where the mall used to be and that entire area has been a problem since the late 80s. I remember people getting shot in the parking lot back then over Air Jordans and Starter jackets. Periodically they try to gentrify shitty areas by opening something big and dumb that they think will attract $$$. They never do. They always just end up attracting white trash and ghetto black people.

I went to get a better look at the place today after the contractors went home. While still HUGE, the building impresses more from the front. The brick is only full on the front with steel the rest of the way around. It’s not as deep as it looks either, but it is three (3) stories which is pretty impressive. Parking is 100 cars maybe.
