Yeah, Komani had some of the sweetest cover arts back in the day, Castlevania 4 being among them.

And then it all went downhill. When a company releases a great game like SOTN in America with that fugly cover art (the castle, the lightning(did not even resemble Dracula's Castle)), something is wrong. Was something wrong with the Japanese art?

I have no idea........
Japanese cover art is much much much better than US Castlevania: SOTN!

That's the reason I want to get JPN version and sell my US one.....

Maybe the white bar at the top is for "Greatest Hits" releases.

I have no idea......
Konami of Japan (actually Treasure) gave it to me before it leased in Japan....hahahaha
J/K........

One other better US art is SNES Super Castlevania IV, which is a lot better than JPN one

ALL old school Konamia artwork OWNS. I miss that painting style they had on all their covers and arcade cabinets . Even minor games like Devastators had fricking AMAZING artwork on the side of the cabinet.

The characters look different on the two different covers because Contra Spirits has the original Mad Dog and Scorpion in it, while US Contra III: The Alien Wars has their descendants Jimbo and Sully in it instead, or something like that. o_O; Cause US Contra series begins in the present time, but the Japanese ones were ALWAYS said to have taken place in the future (even in the original Contra on the MSX).

Actually, I was wondering about the differences of my SFC copy versus the one that Silent_Scope posted.

Well the games themselves are identical. Other than the Super Famicon one's title screen and some text being in Japanese, there's a bunch of cheat codes for it that were disabled for the US version. They were an extra lives code, level select, and sound test mode if I remember correctly.

Oh, and the white area at the top of Silent_Scope's cover might be because it was a Hong Kong/Asian territories release and not the first Japanese release of it. I'm not positive though.
