OOoh, very interesting.

I was not planning to buy a 3DS but that and Pilotwings are really pulling me in.

well I was totally sold until I watched the video, looks like a western developed DLC game. That is not a bad thing really, it just leaves me cautiously optimistic. I would have been instantly sold if it was a sequel to shinobi ps2 or nightshade :) but I am probably almost alone in that.

You're not alone. I also want a follow-up to those games.

I haven't played Nightshade (I've heard bad things...) but PS2 Shinobi is one of my favorite games of all time.

nightshade is great if you love shinobi, it's graphics seem a little more generic but the gameplay evolved nicely. Like the original ps2 shinobi, its definitely a game you have to completely understand to enjoy.

If they don't do the classic bonus shuriken throwing stage from the first arcade game then I'm going to be pissed. I remember playing it as a kid at the local Rickles and got scared when the ninja jumped up at the screen when I missed.

I've heard that the shuriken bonus stages will be in the game.

I'll have to pick up Nightshade. I'm just bummed that they never made a "true" sequel with Hotsuma. I've seen a few screenshots, but I guess it got scrapped pretty early.

Eh... I'll pick up a 3DS when they figure out how to get DS games running better on them. That, and when they can stop the bottom screen from scratching the top screen.

Dude...Hotsuma died at the end. He killed off every single member of his ninja clan and died with the destruction of the Golden Palace. PS2 Shinobi was like a Greek tragedy, man. Brilliant game. Best in the series, imo. Back in '09 I went thru the whole game in a sitting. Great feeling.

Yea it looks like ass. Even worse it's by some no name dev who's known for porting Lego Star Wars games to the GBA.

Sega, stop screwing up your great IPs. For the love of pete you've got a working relationship with Platinum Games. Throw them Shinobi and watch them create heaven on a disc.

Ugg,why does this new shinobi remind of a PS1 title grahpics wise at least !? Realy couldn't have wayforward studios have done better ? Are they realy that lazy not to use sprites instead i would think it wouldn't cost much to develop on a handheld :p Still if the gameplay turns out all right maybe i'll get 3DS i don't know.

I agree with the negative thoughts. The trailer was awesome...until I saw the actual gameplay. Also kinda pissed off they didn't include Kunoichi/Nightshade in there. Yes, I know it's not STRICTLY Shinobi, but it's part of the series. And a better game than many might have heard.

They should have used Hotsuma again, somehow. It's hard to make a unique ninja in a genre so crowed with them. But Hotsuma is a unique character. Shame Sega chooses not to take advantage of that. But on the plus side, at least it makes the one game he's in (2 if you count being able to play as him in Nightshade) all the more special.

Hotsuma also has the best scarf in all of video games. Period. Argue and you're just fucking wrong.

Gonna stay optimistic, it's a game for the 3DS. Given how many crap games are on a nintendo system a mediocre game naturally winds up looking like a classic

Still don't know why people complain about how DS games look on 3DS. They look perfectly fine to me, no matter the game I've tried out on it so far. Didn't know about the scratching problem, though, but I haven't noticed anything like that yet.

On topic, this looks like it'll be fun, but the visuals are...ick. Needs some damn textures or something to liven it up.

Not impressed tbh. Vanillaware should be making this and it should remain 2D!
