A while back, the disc drive on my 360 gave up the ghost (or so I thought — more on that in a sec). No matter what I did, it would never realize the disc was there and always thought the drive was empty. I tried messing with it at great length, but no dice. Either way I wasn't surprised, given the ludicrous failure rate of this hardware, so I thought I'd call up MS and claim I had the RROD. Apparently just saying you get it intermittently is enough to get a refurb in the mail.
Anyway. I'm sick of their bullshit and I didn't feel like finding/buying a box to ship it in, so I requested a box be sent to me. They didn't seem too keen on that, but I insisted.
Well that shit took almost two months to arrive. The first one never turned up at all, and the second one was very late. So I go to box up my 360, and I decide to check if there's a disc in there.
While I was at it, I thought I'd see if it still didn't work... And fuck if it works just fine all of a sudden. I'm quite surprised — I tried it on and off for a couple days when it started to fail, and it didn't work even once.
So what do you all think I should do? Send it anyway, or wait for it to fail again? I can't honestly make up my mind, though I think I'm leaning towards sending it anyway.
