I'll put some rounds in, may have to play the port(s) though because I need to re-cap my PCB.

No one has a cap list on hand do they?

Nothing post-worthy yet. Only hitting stage 3. Rough start. My medal chaining is going fine already but I need to watch a vid to find the gem spewers. I haven't hit a single tech bonus yet and only 2 nice bombs. I'll put more time in tomorrow.

*when posting score, also post your character

I don’t think the Nice Bomb actually affects your score in a meaningful way (if at all), so don’t sweat it too much. Also don’t think there’s a tech bonus, so you’re probably not missing anything there.

There used to be a thread on Shmups forum that listed all the gemhead locations, but sadly they were all Photobucket links that are now dead. If anyone has an updated resource that would be helpful.

Played a few throwaway credits to see which character I like. Aine has a lot of speed and a strong melee so I’ll probably go with him. Hold down while on the random character option to select Aine.

Nice Bomb adds a score multiplier if a bullet is grazing your character, but not the hitbox. I don't recall how much but it can be significant in a lower scoring game like this.

Tech bonus - maybe i'm thinking Dragon Blaze, but I seem to recall them here too. It's been a few years.

Most points will be for saved bombs / lives on an all clear.

Morrigan is also available by pushing opposite direction of Aine.

Get dem chains like Mr. T, fools! Medals have to flash to count toward the chain.

Man this game is hard. I'm going to play on level 7 for a bit so default (4) feels more manageable. I'm getting wiped on stage 3 boss or start of stage 4. I hate getting the plane as 3rd boss. I just struggle. Cakewalk on stage 1 and brutal on stage 3. I just know Panda's about to post a 2 loop clear.

I did almost completely chain stage 1 on one of my runs, but biffed into stupid death and downhill from there. Had 147K on stage 1 that run but finished like 180K.

No Tech Bonus on this one, Dragon Blaze and Strikers 99 have it and I dig that mechanic, wish it was here too.

Morrigan is an exclusive character to DC (switch?) but is not available on the pcb.

Chaining can be a big score bump, but honestly survival is the best score mechanic here. This game is hard as nails and you have to memorize patterns. Reactionary dodging isn’t as effective as other shooters, macro dodging helps a lot but you to know those patterns in advance.

Best run of the day is a run I nearly reset. Died on stage 1 and cleared w/only 77K. Got in a good zone and coasted through to 1-5. Died on boss and then immediately at the start of 1-6 insanity. I'm including my son's runs on scoreboards. They're both fairly competent at shmups and enjoy the competition

You won't see a 2-all from me, the best I have ever done is the monkey ship on the last stage? Game is stupid hard.

Gah this game is hard. Stage 5 is my wall. And chaining is still a struggle even when watching and waiting for each flashing medal.

Nice one Dogg.

Hover over the random character select and hold down. Aine should show.

Aine needs to be enabled via service menu, but i’m pretty sure he’s enabled by default.

I'm not an Aine player, but his close attack is lethal on bosses and larger enemies. I generally can get to stage 4 with him easily, but my first death is a death sentence. I can't recover w/him as easily as most other characters.

I like Hei Cob. Decent attack, decent bomb, nice control through tighter patterns, but the worst to medal chain with early and too slow stage 5 and beyond.

I like Valpiro - seems a little more powerful than Hei Cob, not as powerful as Aine, but is good in recovery and is very easy to maneuver through first 4 bosses. A bit slow again for the stage 5 hysteria.

I can't use Marion at all.

Tavia is the easiest to medal chain with, but she's too fast for tight bullet patterns. I feel like she's on ice, she slides a fraction past where I want her to and I crash into bullets I wasn't even maneuvering away from.

No improvements for me today. Had a great Aine run to stage 5. Died on boss, died fast at start of stage 6. Wasted must have been 8 bombs.

My older son had a nice run w/Aine. He thinks he can top it, so no post yet.

Me neither...got tapatalk for iPhone, never looked back.

Sure, you loose classic forum colors and sigs; however, browsing/pics/attachments=seamless.

Aine's close range attack is insanely powerful. The key now is avoiding deaths when charging up to close attack a bigger enemy.
