SOTM June 2024: Harmful Park (PSX)

One of my favorite shooting games is up for the month.

Harmful Park: High-brow Gag and Pure Shooting is a 1997 horizontally scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Sky Think System for the PlayStation in Japan. Set in a theme park, the game has been described as a cute 'em up and resembles Konami's Parodius games.

Exclusive to the Jpn ps1. But pretty pricey. You can find an English translation patch on romhacking.net or literally the 2nd Google result when searching for the patch is the patched iso download on some site.

Game is also on the jpn PS3 store. It might also be on jpn psn but I haven’t checked.

Game defaults to easy which I feel is a good way to start. Normal is doable but hard is well hard. I’ll make a scoreboard if you want to post that too.

Otherwise enjoy.

This game is the shit, son. Definitely one of the best PSX shmups. Not just fun shooting, but a great soundtrack and outstanding 2D sprite and background art.

Can we get a separate scoreboard for the Score Attack mode? Seriously fun stuff.

Ugh, MiSTER noob here…was playing this last night and did and update all and now my PSX core is gone…

My updateall script isn’t visible on the menu but I see it in the folder…

possible, trying to research fixes...totally new to the MiSTER. Or trying to think of other ways to play this game. It seemed interested last night...

could always look for my G3 Mac and the copy of Bleem!

Not really 1:1, but yeah it's in the same league as Gokujō and Sexy Parodius.
