Alright folks, this is my first SOTM hosting and I'm excited that it is U.N Squadron / Area 88! Fun game for both SNES and Arcade, they're somewhat different so we're going to run two separate scoreboards.

Default dip-switch settings.
Dip Switch B: 1,2,3 = ON, ON, OFF, respectively for "Normal" setting.

1 credit, no continues. Auto-fire is cool if notated.

Score submission format:
Name - Pilot - Level - Score - Version

Good luck!

Somewhat? They're VERY different. Separate score boards for the two should be a given.

Arcade UN Squadron and Area 88 are somewhat different (score-wise, at least). You may have to create a separate scoreboard if there's a member who has a japanese board and still wants to participate.

Noted. If anyone submits an Area 88 score, I'll start a separate table(s).

I gotta admit the intro theme song is :buttrock:.

Turn your bass and volume up:

I have no idea why that screenshot is stretching wide.

No autofire needed in this game. One tap every few seconds is enough to keep it going if you hold it down.

Score table updated.

Yeah, I like the built-in autofire. It makes you get used to a rhythm of holding and releasing the fire button.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've participated in SOTM, but this game hooked me back in. It's a fun one!

Thanks, opt2not. Are you guys planning on keeping the club going for next month?

I have no idea why that screenshot is stretching wide.

CPS games have a really wide resolution. The games are meant to be played on 4:3 monitors so it effectively just gives them a higher level of horizontal detail in the graphics.

So close, Pretty Amy :vik:. The last stage is tough. I ended up taking the large shield and the extra life upgrade.

No offense, but we weren't really playing the same game. External autofire is a significant improvement over the game's normal semi-auto fire. It makes a much bigger difference than in other shmups I've played. Bosses go down much quicker so you don't have dodge nearly as many attacks.

I only had an hour to play last night. If I get my chores done, I might try to go back, get the 1CC, and break 1 million later today.

You'll surely get it using autofire.

Autofire 4 life

No offense taken, I use aurofire whenever I can these days. It makes some games easier, but it’s a better experience to me. My run was a quick and dirty 1cc. I’ve never felt the desire to play this one seriously for score. It’s a great one to just enjoy the cool set pieces and great music every once in a while. Actually I’m pretty sure that there’s an infinite scoring pattern in the game.

Anyway, I hope you get the 1cc. Good luck!

Yup, I'm pretty sure you can just kill the small planes spawned by some bosses indefinitely.
