Let's do this!

shiki2-logo.gif

Shikigami No Shiro (ORIGINAL, not 2 or 3) / Mobile Light Force 2

Platforms: Arcade / G-Net / PS2 / Original Xbox / Windows (Steam)

NOTE Regarding stupid naming, if you are looking at Mobile light force, you need moblie light force 2. The 1st is actually gunbird. Per below post
The original reason behind the 1st Shikigami being called Mobile Light Force 2 is dumb, per wikipedia:
When localized, publisher XS Games re-titled the game as a sequel to Mobile Light Force, but in reality the games are unrelated. Mobile Light Force is known as Gunbird in Japan, and was not developed by Alfa System.

Strategy / Guide :
https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=350 (covers the whole series, but that's the one linked from the main guide index).

As always in the interest of participation if you need help obtaining the game I encourage you to post up; if I can't help you (I can do freemcboot cards, g-net modbios chips / cf cards at the least) maybe someone else can.

Please try to use this format when posting your score:
USERNAME - SCORE - CHARACTER - REACHED STAGE - GET ITEMS - CLASS (optional) - TENSION AVERANGE: (optional) - System/Platform

Code:

No gamecube?
#2 is on gamecube, not the original AFAIK

Great timing on this. I just got my PS2 hooked up to my Aero.

Never played the first one, so I’m looking forward to messing with this.

Here’s a pitiful score to get us rolling.

opt2not - 11175520 - Kohtaro Kuga - 243 - 1-3 - PS2

Power supply in my vertical net city appears to be on the way out. Might have to wire in a new/different PSU, this gnet is making it max out at 4.9v, and it will not run. Runs fine on my recapped blast... Just my luck 😆

Good news: found a Sun PSU in the basement.
Bad news: it was there because I forgot to order a new fan for it.

Amazon Primed a fan... with any luck maybe I can play games instead of operator tomorrow night

Good luck @skate323k137 🤞
One day I should pick up a G-Net. It’s got some bangers on that hardware.
Thanks man, I'll get it sorted one way or another. I don't care if I have to wire in a 2nd psu temporarily just for the gnet itself lol.

And yes, a very great library if you can get a motherboard for a fair price. Some day, I would love to learn enough to make a bank switchable CF card so to speak or otherwise accomplish a gnet multi. The games are 64MB a piece at most so fitting them all on a CF card is trivial space wise.

Anyway keep posting those scores fellas, glad to see the interest :)

I'm struggling to get this going in mame, I've got the g-net bios and everything. Slide into my inbox if you can help a brother out.

I just copped on Steam earlier this evening, and that's what I'll be jamming on this month. Planetemu has a pretty useful diagram on the pages for games that require a bunch of other shit to run. This is what they show for Shikigami no Shiro:

Thanks Ajax, that was super helpful. I'm all sorted now.

By the way, who won the raffle from last month?

I haven't run the raffle just yet. I'm slacking, I know!

Updated the OP just to be clear re Mobile light force vs Mobile light force 2. If you are playing with us this month and plan on using a MLF (giggity) you want MLF2.

My new fan showed up, so I am now the proud owner of a Sun PSU with a quiet fan. What a novelty. The caps are nichicon and look OK, I have kits but I'd rather not do that this month. The G-Net is a power hungry bitch, so here's hoping...
