Glad I'm not the only one. Everytime I get a good run going, I end up trying to get fancy and time the coins... which of course leads to my death...

If you pick up the coins when they're sparkling, you get a higher point reward and it adds to the counter. If you pick up a coin and it's not sparkling, your counter resets.

According to a thread on shumps.org

AINE (MAME/PCB): Go into test mode. Select "Maintenance Code". Enter 51024, after which the message "Sit an AINE Flag2" should appear. Return to normal gameplay (take note that during the bootup process, the line "AINE OK!" is seen). On the player select screen, hold down while on the random select box and Aine's portrait should appear, press a button to select him.

He's unlocked by default on the Dreamcast version though.

She is not a restricted character. Also I don't know what you're talking about as far as the hi score table is concerned. Looks just fine on my phone with Chrome, and my PC with Firefox... Anyone else seeing a problem with the hi score table?

I'm moving my cabs from one division of the house to another, which means they have to be dismantled. Hope to give it a go soon...

It has no wrap on my phone but it works on my PC. So nevermind.

Doing a bit better, my chaining isn't great but I can consistently hit one or two gem heads.

There's a lot of difference between the characters, Aine and Marions bombs can potentially give you a chunk of points and Tavia (maybe others) has one of the best melees because it cancels bullets. I use her for that reason alone, I don't tend to hit a lot of enemies/bosses with melee but the areas you know have dense bullet patterns it's nice to be able to clear a path.

Never actually played this game till now, but enjoying it since I've fired it up. Don't own a copy so doing mame. Here's my score from my first few runs, lots of room for improvement.

I'mma try and jump in on this one, but man do I blow at Gunbird. Shit is tough to say the least.
