Default settings, 3 lives, normal difficulty, extends at 1mil, and of course no continues.

I will have tables for both the original Batsugun, as well as the "Special" revision. Both of which are on the Sega Saturn version.

You can totally match and/or surpass that score. It will be easier with Beltiana though.

Hmm, mame has some graphical glitches (stage 5 especially, lots of weird stuff just lingers on the screen lol). And no music, meh. Guess I'll be plugging in the Saturn after all.

Also I need to look up the pig stuff, which I totally forgot how to do.

Oh my god you guys are wayy too good at this game. I literally just got this for the Saturn. I am an absolute beginner in terms of shmup skills, but I'm having loads of fun so far. I'm anxious to get into the game a little more over the next few weeks and hopefully get a better feel for the scoring system and the first few levels. Here is a link to a strategy thread for this game over at SHMUPS I have been looking at. Any other gameplay tips guys?

I'd recommend starting with the special version though.

I wouldn't fret over scoring either, considering you're just getting into the game. There isn't much of a scoring system anyways. Milking the stage 4 boss is going to be the major component of any decent score. There is also the stage 2 blue plane trick, the stage 5 robot trick, bombing the circular popcorn things in stage 5 (all in the guide). Some of that stuff is a bit advanced, and some of it won't amount to much without stage four milking.


Clearing the first loop is probably the best/realistic goal to set for a month of play.

On stage 3, during the dual mini boss fight, I always drop a bomb during combat. A pighead will appear to the left on the top of a cliff. Hover over it and fire, watch your score increase.

The purple pig is triggered by holding down as soon as the large turret-type area is destroyed right before the mid-boss in stage three in special. It might just be down for original too (peach pig), but I supposed you'd want to be bombing the mid boss anyways.

Do you have to shoot the pigs when they appear, or just go near them? It seems ambiguous and I didn't catch my score at that time to see if it went up.

^ when you hover near peach pigs they're worth 110 points per 1/60th of second.

Since you're (well, were?) playing the special version though, you'll want to follow post #18.

You'll trigger the purple pig which increases experience points 1 per 1/60th of second. This will help you level up and earn you a bomb and a shield.

The piggys will raise up and wiggle their ears when you're properly hovering. You can try this on stage three on the 80 peach pigs that automatically show up on special. You should hover near the pigs at the top of the screen to maximize the opportunity.
