I was once in Downtown LA going to the MOCA and I saw Stephen King in a tuxedo walk by going to the Disney Concert Hall. We exchanged glances, and it took me a second to realize who he was.
I didn't say anything, just made eye contact... It was a surreal experience.

Shining sequel. Interesting.

I hope they dont make a movie out of it without thinking real hard first...

Weird... I actually watched The Shining TV series last night. It's alright, not as good as the movie version though, even if it is more faithful to the book.

Simpsons did it!!

I always call it Shinning now.

I'm reading Skeleton Crew at the moment, cool stuff.

People still watch the Simpsons?

Yes, a hell of a lot do unfortunately, and it won't die.

Seasons 2* - 10 for me and that's it.

When the Simpsons were good, it was up there with any other TV Program you can think of.

* 'Shinning' was in season 2 I think.

I read the words 'Dr. Sleep' and thought it said 'Dr. Slump' at first:

Insane minds think alike ;)

I would probably read a Stephen King Dr. Slump novel.

ESPECIALLY if he wrote it so it crossed over with the Shining.

Because it would be fucked up as all hell.

I love the new sig pic of BW, btw.

The last Stephen King book I read was "Ur" it was pretty interesting. It was about a Magic Kindle that could read books that were never published due to the writer dying or something. Ie tons of Faulkner and Shakespeare books that only existed in a parallel universe that the UR has access to. It gets interesting as well because you can read the New York Times, and see it a number of different ways, i.e. if there was a nuclear holocaust etc... interesting stuff. Very short. I would recommend it.

Coincidently, I've had two separate conversations today about the shining.
Despite it being not as faithful to the book as the tv movie,
it was a success because it was a sum of all it's parts.
kubrick's vision, a great cast, and king.
All the tv movie had going for it was it was close to the book
and goofy cg.
Any ways, once you see something,
you can't unsee it.
Kubrick's shining is the original and I can't see it as anything else.
Don't mind the idea of a sequel.
King is a decent author and is prolific,
but he isn't consistently good.
So relative to the rest of the stuff,
how bad could it be?

I liked the tv mini series. For what it was. I enjoyed the pace the longer, split-up format allowed. A slower build. Of course, Kubrick's version beats it badly because of Kubrick, the Alcott cinematography, and Scatman Crothers.

I thought he was retiring after the last dark tower books, never finished reading it and haven't read any of his new books since. I tried to auction up about 20 of his first printing hardbacks and nobody even bid $35. I guess I'll get a bookcase and keep my physical books.

I'm not sure if there's enough a demand for sk books.
Even first editions.
I always see heavy overstock on Stephen King books at the half priced book store.
