This looks absolutely embarrassing.
My thoughts exactly.

Credit where it's due - it's trying to be as close to the game aesthetic as possible, sure. But in this case it just looks goofy.

Cammy looks nearly perfect except for she's not Asian. That chick looks Asian.

Ken looks Hispanic. What.

I love David Dastlmachian (sp?) but absolutely do not see him as Bison. That's just off.

The trailer looks exactly the right kind of stupid that a live-action Street Fighter movie would have to be to not be complete shit.

That said, it could still very easily be complete shit.

I’m pretty sure I saw Alexander Volkanovski with a blonde wig for a few seconds at the beginning of the trailer like wtf 💀

This looks beyond awful. Ken and Guile look horrid. When I think Street Fighter movie, I don't think cringe comedy. I was hoping it would take itself just a little more seriously.

Skimmed the YouTube comments to see how bad everyone was bashing it. I didn't see a single negative comment.

Either I have poor judgement, or there's no hope for humanity.

It looks like its for kids, I dont see what the problem is. And kids'll probably love it. Same as all those other video game movies that have been pouring out recently. However, the new MK movie looks like Bloodsport and will probably be rated R, so there is that if that's what you're looking for. Or you could be like me, and just watch none of them. Haha

Street Fighter isn't really something I can take seriously as a live action movie at all.

Try to make it too realistic and it loses its identity and goofy charm.

Try to cleave too close to the source material and it is every bit as retarded as your brain has been telling you it is for decades.

It's critic proof. It will be what it will be and take it or leave it on its merits, whatever those happen to be.

The closest anyone has ever gotten to making a Street Fighter style movie that has any degree of 'respectability'; (and that is giving it a lot of slack) is Bloodsport.

Yeah, I probably will too.

It was designed specifically to be a video game with a slight anime aesthetic. None of this works as a serious live action thing. But I can't wait to see all the FGC nerds complaining about it.

Wait. I could DEFINITELY wait for that.

Will definitely watch if Ray Park shows up in the post credits to extend an invitation.

I dunno man I don’t think anyone under 30 gives a shit about Street Fighter. I assume it’ll be PG-13, which basically eliminates the kiddy audience.

I think they’re going for a cheesy retro vibe to mainly appeal to the 30-50 crowd. They’ll still get some teens and 20 somethings but it just doesn’t have the wide family friendly appeal of Mario or Sonic.

Trying to figure out if "What's Up?" is being used in the trailer for nostalgia (it was released *later* than Street Fighter II, but close enough I guess) or for camp (the 2005 "Fabulous Secret Powers" video)?

Unless... Unless the song is really supposed to reflect the themes of the movie?

Because, and I'm trying to be precise with my language here, that would be pretty gay.

b) how would you do this differently? It's exactly what I expected, goofy as fuck and not taking itself too seriously

The Mortal Kombat film was sorta okay as it didn’t take itself too seriously, so there’s some hope to this.

I mean it‘s going to be balls but hopefully watchable…. balls… (?)
