Suggestions for how to sell AES JP collection (not ebay)?

I'm considering moving on from my AES JP collection but am struggling a bit with how to do it given the substantial price of some of the games. I approached the Neo Store to see if I could work something out but they ghosted me. I'm not really a fan of ebay for items of this value given that they always side with buyers and if I get a scummy buyer, they can just swap the original out with a fake and claim some bs reason that they're unsatisfied and get a refund (leaving me 100% screwed). I'm wondering if there are any Neo groups where in person exchange/wire transfer transactions are a possibility. I'm in the US. Thanks in advance.
the forums on here pretty good but they seem to be alot quieter than years past. Way less toxic than it was before though. In terms of ebay, there are scummy buyers but ive sold a fair amount of stuff on ebay and havent had any issues...yet

Most people are decent but you can get totally screwed but you can anywhere. FB groups are decent places to sell but you need to be careful on there.

Thanks guys, but I was not playing 4D chess with this thread - I was asking a question to see if there was an option I was missing (which doesn't appear to be the case unfortunately). It's in any case clear to me from those that unilaterally reached out that this is not the time to undertake any sale of high value items. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to respond (or give me more credit than I'm due lol).

This wasn't mentioned yet: Hasty estate sale after we're gone where everything's liquidated for a fraction of its value. It's option I'll bet many of us here will end up going with.

True story: I made the mistake of putting most of my game collection into a large low security storage locker while living in one of my apartments to save money. The locker was broken into, probably by kids looking for games, because very little of value was taken except for my PSP and a broken Xbox 360. Most of my empty console boxes (which I was keeping for @kernow) were opened and left behind, except for the one with the broken Xbox 360 in it. I literally had an NGDevteam MVS kit which was going for about $1,000 on ebay at the time opened and taken out of the packaging, and left behind.

I got very lucky there, and you can bet everything was immediately moved to more secure storage upon filing a police report.

Ahahahahaha!

I checked out the high end game room group and one of the rules is "no laughing face emoji on sales posts". Said it's an instant ban.

Holy moley...

I would wager to bet it is full of bellends who shifted over from other collecting communities like sports cards. Then again, that applies to most gaming communities on FB now. Hence, the prices being 5-10x more now.

This is like the video game version of "my manual transmission meant they couldn't steal my car"

Most likely, yeah.

Saw a post from some knob offering up $100k looking for a graded Super Mario 64.

Hamburger help me...

Most of the general FB groups for specific systems are shit. I am signed up on some of them for 'teh scoops' but the actual banter is just awful.

A typical post will be something like: <screenshot of super metroid CIB> "My favorite game! Anyone else like this? It is very good and fun I like it a lot"

Or never-ending top 10 lists full of the same old games.

The other common post in those groups that I can't stand are the
"Thinking about getting <insert random game system>...recommendations for games I should try? "

this is not the time to undertake any sale of high value items.

I mean, this would be up to you but with respect to familiarity to any forum or group you may already be associated with, but I am assuming N-G may be one of the few (or only one?) you've regularly frequented over the years. So despite the forums current state (not nearly as much traffic as before, batshit autistic etc. etc.) it may be worth a shot to post a FS with a couple carts, prioritize local pick-up or present it as the only option and see how it goes.

High-priced carts does make it nuanced as you may not want the forum paper trail or noise that comes with it in addition to potential flipper spam but by the same token, I'm sure real potential buyers would appreciate the transparency vs. a "meet me in a dark alley to buy my MS1" off of some rando subreddit.

On this note - what’s the most trustworthy way for a seller to prove high value cart/insert/instructions are legit without being able to do it in person?

I know the NeoStore at one time offered verification services, but it sounds like from the posts earlier in the thread that NS might not be offering that right now.

Just take a bunch of pics and hope?

Beyond opening them up, you can get a loupe and check for offset printing patterns on the manual, label, and insert. *Most* fakes are printed digitally.

The Facebook groups are the most gullible. That's the only place I see people buying overpriced graded sealed games.
They are also some of the dumbest people I've ever seen in a VG community. Im at a loss as to how they have enough money to buy sealed graded games.

This place is definitely slower, but that is what happens with age. You are not chasing every deal anymore.

Why the fuck is it not the time to undertake any sale of high value items? Lol got to love self-appointed market experts.

Agreed.

As an aside, the "market" has softened a little on sold prices the last couple of months, at least in my observations on YAJ/others. Homecarts were not immune to rabid Covid buying behavior but like most hobbies, there's been a bit of some selling price settling. But in the end, I personally would not risk selling/buying on any auction or FB marketplace site.

That said @Bar81 , this ain't your first rodeo. Don't be shocked when you post a "I want to sell my expensive homecarts" feeler thread (which this is essentially being perceived by most as) when you get a bunch of DMs from the likes of Sengoku-F-face which somehow = a "clear" sign that it's not to time to sell. Obviously it's totally up to you if/when you sell but the litmus test of the right time to sell should not be DMs from a bunch of homecart grubbing n-g retards, myself included (I didn't DM for the record).

Can you at least post the names of the low post goobs that DM'ed you for the scoops. They need to be delt with.
