I made the pictures smaller to help with loading but that messed with the image quality. Oh well.
Good frog boy just chillin':
Nationwide food fair at the Soviet-styled exhibition center built in 1954, which was jampacked with people and still turned out fun:
This was nuts and will probably be one of my highlights of summer because I came across it completely by accident: a Buddha relief carving from probably the late 1200s when the Khan royal family came down from Mongolia to settle in Beijing. But it's up in the mountains by the expressway where there's no sign, nowhere to park, no nothing. So just nothing short of a miracle I came across this (and that it's not guarded, no security cameras, which is unheard of because there are cameras everywhere):
Another part of the Great Wall that isn't abandoned, but also doesn't get many tourists at all. Luckily I was the only one there that day. Gives a good idea to how Chinese think of it as a dragon on the spine of mountains:

Blah summer days are a good chance to check out a museum, this one opened only a couple years ago and is basically a Friendship Museum - a showcase of gifts from countries to China...which is important as it shows recognition, respect, and in a manner of speaking, tribute to the Party. "TO HIS EXCELLENCY CHAIRMAN MAO TSE-TUNG":

Horrible picture quality, but I went caving again last week and came across a group of bats. It was the closest to an Eldritch horror I've ever seen. They were all squirming and wriggling and just ugh. It looked to me as if the cave had grown some abcess of moving flesh. One of them eventually fell down and that's when I noped out of the cave:

I just got back from Maine and sunsets there were also very hazy...people there were saying it's the wild fires in Canada.

I saw these seals on an island boat trip the other day. There was one on the rock at the back and another jumped up and settled in to the right, then this big fat fuck made his way onto the same rock at the front and it all kicked off. I could see his point, there was kilometres of uninhabited island for them to chill on, they didn't all need to squeeze onto his rock. We circled back round ten minutes later and they were still hissing like someone had tried to access the marketplace

Canada is burning left and right. They said that Montreal had the worst air quality in the world last week due to wind currents. Environment Canada issued warnings and asked people to stay at home and close the windows. The air got better since then though but we're not exactly out of the woods yet.I just got back from Maine and sunsets there were also very hazy...people there were saying it's the wild fires in Canada.

Do you live in Maine, or just visiting? I was visiting Bar Harbor from MA, but drove through Portland just a few hours ago!

I guess we kind of take it for granted, but the fact is Michigan is two peninsulas surrounded by massive lakes with thousands of miles of sandy beach coasts. Tourism is certainly a big part of our economy. But the trade off is our brutal winters. Many michiganders snowbird in the winter.
