I normally don’t like remakes at all but here would be the place for it. I love Telenet, Wolfteam, Lasersoft, whatever but when it comes to things like collision detection, jumping arcs, difficulty, etc they absolutely sucked. These days it wound be easy to rebuilt the whole thing in fake 2D and then end up with something way better.

I liked the first and third game on the genesis aswell. Alot actually. Games have that Rondo of blood like quality to them. Story telling and gameplay that just feels good the more into the game you get. Running and killing just felt good in those games.

Agreed. I actually don't own Valis 2. Been meaning to get SD Valis though. I know it probably sucks but I want to try it anyway.

I like the Valis games on PCE.
As with Ys on PCE, I just prefer the red book audio and more expansive cut scenes.

Could very well be a complicated voice audio rights/estate royalties issue, seeing as how some of the central characters unique to Valis IV were performed by now-deceased talent including Hiromi Tsuru & Kaneto Shiozawa(Vampire Hunter D, Area 88's Shin Kazama, Hokuto no Ken's Rei, GGX's Zato-1, Exile's Sadler, Toshinden's Duke Rambert)
