The first arcade game I remember playing was Star Wars '83. I couldn't get enough of that game back then. My plan was simple and often successful, all I had to do was convince my Dad to take us to movies but it couldn't just be any old theater it had to be Westlakes Theather(SA) where they had a sit down cab. I once had to suffer through a showing The Man with Two Brains, that was torture for a six year old kid. My Dad had questionable taste in movies and parenting skills. Although my sister and I loved watching Doctor Detroit and would quote lines, of course we had no clue what was actually going on in that movie. The 80s were a strange and awesome time to have been a kid.

The first was probably Pac-Man, but I remember that Ikari Warriors had the biggest impact on me. I thought it was the most amazing game I had ever seen. It was also the first NES game I bought; too bad I didn't know about ABBA until maybe a year after that...

For me it was a Final Fight and SF II ww next to each other in 1991 during a holiday that started it all. Beginning of the end..

Would be years ago when it was safe to send small kids around to a fish & chip shop / diner to get tea (me and my cousin to be exact). I do recall us both walking inside and being confronted by something new, two strange cabinets side by side against one wall and I remember standing on tiptoes to look at the screen lol.
Not sure of the game but out of the games known to be at that location we are talking early so either Space invaders (more likely 'The Invaders'),Astro Fighter or Frogger.
Good memories and the fish&chip shop still stands although it has different owners now and I always raise a smile as I cycle past :) ,I cannot remember how old we were but I am 43 now and these were a new sight for us back then.

Small indoor flea market by my house in Houston had an arcade. They had several games but I only remember 3, rampage, rygar and paperboy.

I spent all my money on rampage I thought that game was so amazing, I think I was 8 or 9 so around 1988.

I don't think I can remember the first, but the first I can remember were the following:
Ninja Gaiden
Hard Drivin'
Blue's Journey

Ninja Gaiden I remember playing at a Godfather's Pizza I frequented as a kid, which actually still exists and is still good! The others were played at some point in an old arcade that was located just downstairs under that same Godfather's Pizza in a little 2-floor shopping center.

Very 1st Arcade Game you ever played?

i'd like to say DISCS OF TRON at a really cool pizza parlor -that is long since defunct- in PORTLAND OR. called "THE ORGAN GRINDER"
back in the late 80's, but i'm really not sure at all about my memory on that...

nah, these days i'm modding my vintage systems myself for line-level L/R stereo RCA outputs.
it makes a colossal difference in the SEGA GENESIS and NEO GEO AES' sound quality.

that, and adding clip-on ferrite beads to the AC adaptor cords; REALLY cleans the image and sound quality right up...

Did you "play" with it or did you play with it...some questions must be asked.

A buddy of mine's dad had a galaga cab in his basement and we used to play that when we were kids. A local swimming pool had a 1942 cab I always used to play as well.

my first real vivid memory of playing an arcade game was when i was 3 or 4, my dad took me to this seedy, terrifying pool hall called SNOOKERS and we played Donkey Kong Jr for about a half an hour, then pumped like $6 in change into a Ms. Pac-Man cocktail. my dad is not really that into video games, so this is one of the only super awesome memories i have of being able to share my interest with him.

jeesh that got heavy, sorry.

Time Pilot. it was at some tiny Dinner that me and my dad ended up stopping at. that's the earliest one I can recall anyways, there was probably one before that but I don't recall it. I had a real early birthday held at a local arcade, I must of been 9 or 10. it was great though. unlimited games. the TMNT arcade game had just come out I think and I beat Prehistoric Isle.
