I been a gaming fan ever since 1987... my off years happen to be 1995 and 1999.

Everyone knows 1994 was the year of the fighting games. But by 1995, I *think* things cooled down. SF was getting really old by now and the "Golden Days" of fighting games had gone by the wayside....

Does that sound accurate?

I dunno, 95 was my off year.... so you guys who went through 95 as a hardcore gamer, let me know! Thanks.

95 saw the release of Street Fighter Alpha and Mortal Kombat 3. Pretty bad stuff.

In the same year, though, King of Fighters 95 came out, letting you customise teams. That was neat!

OH, and Samurai Shodown 3 came out in 95 as well. A pretty shitty year.

Hmmm...

SFA1
KoF'95
RBFF1
SSIII
Tekken
MK3
KI2
VF2?/VF1 ports?

Overall not a terrible year, but Real Bout Fatal Fury 1 is my single favorite fighting game of all time, so 1995 was the best year for fighters EVER.

Now that you mention it, my off years for hardcore gaming were around '95-'98. Busy time with school and all. I wish I would have been around for the Saturn those years.

Hey Steve,
With WHP out in '95, I thought you'd like that year.

95 was a bad year, the aforementioned games speak for themselves

Iori, true, but like I said, 95 was one of my off years as far as gaming was concerned. And especially arcades. I think I went to the arcades like only once in 1995. I only read previews and reviews on WHP. I never actually played the arcade itself, if you can believe that.

Hey, 1995 was a tough year for me, so cut me some slack!

But yeah, I think I can sum it up.... while 95 had a good deal of fighting games, "The Golden Days" were gone by 95. Fighters got more gimmicky and "fresh".

1995 was a decent year overall.the best year would have to be 1998 and 1999.the reason is the evolution of kof and the best looking game ever, soul calibur.

1995 was a case of the good with the bad.

Super SF II Turbo didn't catch on like Super did. Apparently people were thinking "Where's the real SF III?". The extreme difficulty may have turned some people off.

Taito did bring out a pretty good (although apparently little-seen) fighter called "Global Champion". I never got to play it in an actual arcade, but I've got the game at home.

The KOF series was just taking off, and here came KOF'95. Tekken 2 did likewise for Namco's 3D fighter.

There was a hat trick of crap- Mortal Kombat 3, KI2, and Street Fighter Alpha (which had those frigging un-Street Fighter chain combos).

At least SFA turned into a learning experience for Capcom- SFA2 improved greatly on its predecessor by removing the nasty chains.

Got to be 1996 that was the best.
I was rather bored with games that were appearing in 95, probably due to the playstation, ruining gaming creativety, where it hits me personally.
