Listening to this amazing first pressing. This is an one of those albums that transcends genres. If you can’t find something you enjoy with this album you are probably an incel.CB8C224A-AD65-4987-8CF3-94D6D1FCE94B.jpeg

I had the first album, it was a bit more straightforward than this. I don’t really have an opinion on this yet, I think I don’t get it. I will some day.

Everyone at our house loves Marvin Gaye. Him and Bill Withers’, their stuff from this period was eternal.

I have the LP from this era too…I think. It’s green and I remember it being defective in some way, not sure where it is. On principle I don’t really organize my records that well. It’s in there somewhere.

Anyway, it’s pretty much Dinosaur Jr. I like it a lot.

Today we are listening to Yes’s deeply unpopular 1980 album Drama, the one that broke up the band. One of them at least. I like this record a lot and my kid does too.

Today I noticed that the lead cut seems to have predicted Facebook. Seriously, read this and tell me the parallels aren’t amazing.

FC4A9432-1514-4BDD-A3D7-C14216CCB644.jpeg

Of course when they wrote this I’m sure they had an different sci-fi robot god in mind, more like a 70s anime giant computer/mother/statue probably. Still it even seems to describe the very nature of Facebook,

“Friends make their way into systems of chance
(Reply- friends make their way of escape into systems of chance)
Escape to freedom I need to be there
Waiting and watching, the tables are turning
I'm waiting and watching
I need to be there.”

…and even quitting and fake quitting,

“I care to see them walk away
And, to be there when they say
They will return.”

The internet itself and its affects in climate change,

“Cables that carry the life
To the cities we build
Threads that link diamonds of life
To the satanic mills”

Yes are well known for inventing a lot of stuff musically but not outright prognostication.

Nothing beats listening to the musical stylings of Horace Silver.
While Bill Cosby talks about morality, working hard, taking responsibility and all the things that it takes to be a good human being.
-All the things he is known for talking about.

Yeah, that’s a good one. It really fills a room, the bigger the better. Absolutely sucks with headphones.

Amazing album. Captured a weird pop dark electronica sound IMG_20211115_194643__01.jpg

Chevelle Niratias. Surprising to me. Never cared for them before. Must be getting old. I love this album.C304F4A0-08BA-4E96-8DB8-359E9718FB3D.jpeg

Solid tracks by Aesop Rock and his producer from the Labor Days era (I think). One listen is never enough with this guy but so far it seems like another winner. I’ll give it a year or three.

The recycled vinyl thing doesn’t seem to have affected sound negatively in any way. It sounds way better than that Black Marble LP I posted a few pages back. Inner bags are black and further the “garbage” look.

Less gross than a lot of modern Aesop Rock.

Right now, Amazon is blowing out Garth Brooks Boxed sets for under $20. Original ANalog for $12.50

This is the steal of a lifetime. You get 4 studio albums and the triple live album. Plus CD's.

Hahaha! Those same hyper stupid box sets were on sale last Black Friday. Even if you love terrible music by assholes these sets made zero sense, not being able to sell them at any price is proof.

GB has a number of lavish box sets at this point and I’ve seen most of them…on clearance. :)

I bought one of those GB box sets since my wife is a fan. We listened to everything over the course of a weekend, and the sound quality is impressive, especially at the price point. It's not really my thing, but I was happy to pick it up for around $20.

As far as Price points go....
Do you know how much I've gotten for original copies of his first 3 albums?

Probably a thousand thousand dollars since LP was dead at that time. I’ve never ever seen a person play a Garth Brooks record. I’ve seen hundreds of copies of No Fences on CD.

Garth Brooks sucks shit, btw. I just wanted to make that clear before we talk about him too much.

About a year ago people were snatching up those GB boxsets and hoping to flip them based on prices of the oop 90s stuff and now you can't give them away.

I also don't think the kind of people who listen to GB are the type of people who seriously collect vinyl. You can't play records in your pickup truck.
