Yeah I think that's exactly what it means. I was young, british, with no idea who Jackie Gleason even was. It was maybe 25 years later and I'm watching family guy and some fat guy wearing a sailor outfit is fucking peter griffins mum or something, and announces that he's Jackie Gleason, and I think oh shit, so Jackie Gleason is someone famous, and he's a sailor, and I'm even more confused.I thought it was "after watchin jackie gleason," as in after he watched an episode of the Honeymooners or whatever on tv, he went to the precinct. Which sort of creates a vivid juxtaposition lyrically. Watching a funny comedian on tv, and then turning around and unleashing nihilistic violence afterward. But I could be wrong, just my interpretation.
