It's just reminded me, after 30 years, to look up why 'Jackie Gleason walked into a precinct and gunned down a captain for no fucking reason', and I've discovered that I misunderstood the context, Jackie Gleason has nothing to do with gunning down a captain, it just rhymes with 'reason'.

Another thrilling story there from me.

Which sort of creates a vivid juxtaposition lyrically. Watching a funny comedian on tv, and then turning around and unleashing nihilistic violence afterward. Yeah I think that's exactly what it means. I was young, british, with no idea who Jackie Gleason even was. It was maybe 25 years later and I'm watching family guy and some fat guy wearing a sailor outfit is fucking peter griffins mum or something, and announces that he's Jackie Gleason, and I think oh shit, so Jackie Gleason is someone famous, and he's a sailor, and I'm even more confused.
