That Helmet album is so damn good. How dare you put sum 41 anywhere near it.

I think Sum 41 got a bad rap. They were dismissed as cheap Blink 182 imitators at the time, but they had chops. I won't defend the rest of their discography, but that particular album is solid if you can give pop punk a chance.

The baby's still asleep, so I'm winding down the night with one more album before the next feeding.

Blink 182 can suck my cock too, to call either band punk is heresy.

Growing up I used to lecture people on the true nature of punk rock, arguing that mission and politics were just as if not more important than the music itself. Now I just listen to whatever sounds good. My tastes are becoming less aggressive and more melodic as I grow older, striking a balance similar to the Descendents catalog. The sugary hooks of pop punk bands like Screeching Weasel/Riverdales, The Dickies, The Queers, Buzzcocks, The Lillingtons/Teenage Bottlerocket, Groovie Ghoulies, Teen Idols, Beatnik Termites, MXPX, The Connie Dungs, and The Mr. T Experience excite me more than how loud and raw a band can sound or how relevant a band's message is. And to that end, I enjoy Blink's first 4 albums as well as 90s Green Day and other bands that are probably too mainstream for your refined tastes. Maybe I've just become a pussy.
