The Saturn has the best 2D shooter home ports on the market, bar none. The best include:

Shienryu
Batsugun
Kyukyoku Tiger 2 Plus (aka Twin Cobra 2)
Battle Garegga
Radiant Silvergun
Strikers 1945 I & II
Donpachi
Do Donpachi

Besides those, there are some fantastic arcade shooters never ported to the home:

Raiden Fighters, RF2, RF Jet
Viper Phase 1
Cyvern
EspRade
EspRade 2 (Guwange)

And the DC shooters are great, Giga Wing, Giga Wing 2, Mars Matrix, and Gunbird 2. Not up to the level of the previous ones I listed, but still very nice!
