Who else loves this game or its sequel?

I loved the original... I was crazy about it.

Can someone post a pic of Poison Ghost -- I haven't seen his candy ass in gawd damn years. Also, I can't remember what his projectile looks like, can someone remind me? Also, what was his running attack? Wasn't it a slide?

Woo, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't his projectile attack this large orangey yellowly circular blast? And what was his charging attack?

Who are your favorite monsters from the franchise? Like Bobak I was sad they got rid of Beetle Mania and Rocky for KOTM2.

KOTM3 would have a ton of potential, I am still sad they never made it.

KOTM1 is a classic but the CPU opponents on later levels sure were rough. You had to get them into a pattern and hope you could whittle their life down in time. KOTM2 was a strange game but I enjoyed it a lot more than most people did. Someday I'll work on 1CC'ing that fucker.

I always used Geon in KOTM1 and Atomic Guy in KOTM2. (of course, now I find out Cyber-Woo has much better scoring potential in KOTM2...)

I loved part 1. It was why I got a Neo the first Christmas it was out.

Beetle Mania and Rocky were my boys.

KOTM2 is dead to me. Geon was my choice in that version.

KOTM 1 is for console users, ROM whores can go eat it.

This is one game I've never played.
Perhaps I should look out for it on eGay.

I'm a fan. But it epitomizes the Neo Geo game as best with 2 players. The CPU is just the cheapest whore on earth. How did they get anybody to put in more than one quarter???

KOTM2 rules! It is a game of timing and calculating your attacks whereas many believe that you use brute force & immediately grapple with the opposing monster which will leave you a very frustrated person.
KOTM2 is definitely in my top 10. KOTM I found to be very boring and repetitive.

KOTM can be 1CCed. I did it when it was one of my 2 Neo games in the early 90s :D

KOTM2 is a bullshit lie, if only for the final boss.

It looks impossible, but KOTM2 can be done, I've watched two different recordings that accomplished it. The key to beating that last boss with Cyber-Woo is to keep using that move where he launches his fists out as it gives him a good deal of invincibility during it. Of course there's more to it than that, but... yeah. It's not impossible, just very tough (and very boring)

Y'know what? I have a loose cart of KOTM2 and never looked at it that way. It now makes total sense.

I have a KotM1 mvs cart, I love it :)
It's one of the first games I played for Neo*Geo, and I would sometimes give a friend a quarter so we could fight co op. It was great :mr_t:

I like both those carts, I only own a shitty SNES version though of the first one. I need to pick them up on MVS sometime...they are cheap enough to pick up easy.

I like both games. I have more fun with KOTM1, but 2 is cool too. This may be heresy to say though, but KOTM2 on Genesis is far better than the Neo version. It plays more like a traditional fighter, with multiple special moves per character, and all the alien monsters are playable as well! The gameplay is a lot of fun and nowhere near as cheap as the Neo version.

BTW, KOTM fans -- Godzilla : Destroy All Monsters Melee and Godzilla : Save The Earth are totally sweet homages to this classic series.

I own the first but haven't played it in about a year. I remember it to be pretty fun if not slightly flawed. I could never get very far in the game and with all the info I'd read on certain tactics that can be employed within the game, they never seemed to work for me. I guess that is why I haven't played it in so long. It definately deserves another whack!:emb:

Basically what you want to do is "mainly dropkick the enemy monster" in order to set up other attacks. After you knock the enemy monster down, you charge up your POWER meter for whichever super attack you prefer or have available and wait for it to start getting up and just as it gets up to his feet(TIME IT) ,you release the POWER charge, you can stay on top of the enemy monster as well by kicking it when it's on the ground. When the enemy monster is standing up you can throw jabs while retreating(backing up),throw buildings, whatever you can grab.. You want to avoid the enemy monster while beating it up and when you feel confident enough that you have hit it enough successive times (usually when you see it taking a breather)you should attempt to grapple. You want to beat the enemy monster down while avoiding the grapple as much as you can and when you knock it on the ground you want to stay on top of it with power charge or kicks, you can even wait till it's about to get up and throw a building at it or other projectiles!.When you get the timing down and the flow of play, you will feel GREAT about dominating the play field! You will find yourself paying more attention to destroying the buildings, the tanks and aircraft as well as picking up the bonuses.

Cheers for the insights BB. I'm going to give those a try next time I visit my lonely cab at my parent's place.

I even dodge the enemy monster because the CPU is so cheesy the monsters will attempt to run straight at you and initiate the grapple. This is when you dive around the play field aand set them up for the dropkick.
On the second stage, you know how you face the small monster and he starts to get larger as you hit him? What you can basically do is stay right on top of him while he's small and jab him until he gets larger. When he gets larger, you side step it,wait for it to walk into your plane and perform the dropkick. As he rolls to get up ,you release the super charge attack.
