Someone bought a boxed Jaguar with 21 games for more than the price of that cabinet, lol. I say you're getting the better deal!

As someone with a busted 2931 chassis, fuck the Blast. Get an Astro.

I'm just salty, mostly - I actually like my Blast even with a non-original monitor in it and I'm still looking for a 2930 to replace it someday. A working MS8/9 for an Astro are easier to find AND easier to repair - my greatest fear is perpetually throwing money at any replacement 2930/2931 chassis I'd get. Also, I personally love the look of a Blast and think the cab is a good design overall, but there's barely any room for fat cheeseburger gaijin hands to grab the monitor if you want to TATE occasionally so you'll probably not be changing it often.

Make sure to check the cab under the control panel for cracks, seems pretty common at the corners. It's easy enough to reinforce from the inside but it's something to be aware of and you might be able to knock extra bucks off the price if you point them out.

Neither! I'm all club Aero City these days. Smaller cabinet by about 2 inches in width and height. Has a great Nanao MS8-26 monitor...dem thick scanlines, and the cabinet is all metal. Which makes it a lot easier to repair than the fiberglass/gelcoat of the Blast or AC.
They can also be had for much cheaper. I picked up my second Aero a couple weeks ago, and am looking forward to doing a linked set-up.

Aero Cities don't get enough love IMO

Aero is my favorite to pew pew on; the slightly smaller real estate of the 25/27” tube, and that MS8-as o2n mentioned.

High Score Girl has sent prices of these through the roof.

So I ended up getting the cab delivered today.

It's a li'l dirty. Ive since cleaned that yellow assed door with a magic eraser and it's more cream colored than piss yellow now. Prob will need to repaint it. You can almost see the burn-in on it. It's not absolutely terrible, but.. its there.

I ended up paying more than I wanted to but 1400 is 'better' than 2200 by far. And I basically supplemented the cost by selling a bunch of shit on ebay and selling my Arcade1Up. I sold 14 GIJoe figures (non vintage) for like $450. Insane. So all in all, the cab didn't really cost me that much.

Gotta get some new sticks and buttons, but it's on it's way to being my Neo25's big bro.

I remember kinda thinking that the big marquee space on the Blast looks a little weird, but I feel exactly the opposite way now. The Astro not having any marquee space at all is more weird to me. Both dope cabs with different, but overlapping use cases. I would snatch up an Astro in a heartbeat if I got the chance at one.

Your Blast looks great DD.

I prefer the Astro or Aero simply because they fit into the decor of a home a bit more (which is where I’m playing it) - they don’t look like casino machines like the blast does. My grail however is the Aero Table!

Yeah this cab is pretty big/tall. I can move my Neo25 around the house without taking anything apart. My office door has a weird little angle when it comes to the hallway, so moving it from the living room to the office involved some tricky pivoting/turning and removing the CP on the blast. Even then it just barely fit through, and that's after removing my office door. I wont be moving it out of my office for a LONG time.

The Neo25- that little bitch can spin around in circles and roll out the room and into the hallway like it was a mini console.

Play one first, I had dreams of owning one, got one played it a few times and realised my Aero city was so much nicer to play.

From my personal experience, Blasts are a pain in the ass simply due to the Monitor/Chassis being such a pain in the ass to work with.

Changing the speakers is also a pain, if they have worn out with shitty sound.

Astro is a Honda Accord - easy to get parts for, good fleet model, nice to start out with.

Blast is a BMW M3 - does the same stuff and more. Higher performance, but higher maintenance and expensive common failure parts.

I'd take Astros, personally, as I don't want the headache of Blasts (beyond my one.)

So for the sake of shits and giggles... lets say someone was interested in a trade for Capcom impress for this Blast.

Thoughts?

Is the Impress local to you? They are often brittle; think top corners of CyberLeads.

If it was local…and you didn’t mind losing 31k/hi res…and you *really* want Qsound …then go for it.

I wouldn’t have an Impress shipped to me, with someone else’s money. Them break easy them do.

Agree with wataru. like my Impress a lot. No longer own any Blasts. Comes down to your preferences and condition.

Guy who has it is about 4 hours north of me. We were talking about it a bit earlier tonite and the convo has sorta died down. Not sure if he's still interested. He did say someone offered him a Versus tho.

A versus is great if you're one of the 3 percent of people who both have room for one of those beasts, and someone to play with regularly. And they can't be split so have fun moving them lol.

Well interesting development. Now an AstroCity has been thrown into the mix.

I think that's what I'm gonna do. Just waiting on the other party. Evidently this is a 3 way split. Instead of me trading for the Impress, hes trading the Impress for a Versus City, which makes his Astro available for my Blast, and his friend wants to trade the blast for something else.

All I know is if the deal falls through I don't have any kind of loss. They said they are working on transport, and all that. So who knows, maybe it'll work out.

edit: re: Atomiswave/Naomi - I've got the MGCD which is my knockoff Naomi/Atomiswave lol so even a 15khz will work just fine. I'll never have the extra cash to drop on a complete Naomi set up with a multi/netboot/whatever its called. Maybe an Atomiswave, but the last AW I had before was in a standard rez dynamo cab several years ago. So even if I were to get an AW, it would still work fine in the Astro.

We'll see what develops.
