Why all the bad decisions?

SNK made some of the most amazing hardware of all time with the AES and MVS, so what happened? Why is it that since then any releases associated with their name (aside from maybe the pocket) have baffling decision choices made? Like the Neo Geo X and the Mini, with the 16:9 screens, L & R buttons, piss poor video output, no clicky thumbsticks, and odd game choices.. Is it all really just financial shortcuts to cut costs? How did they go from making such awesome hardware to making flops like this?

SNK died in 2001. None of those other things were made by them, they were licensed.

“Maybe” the Pocket?

You’re confused. The Pocket was %100 quality and also from the old SNK, the real SNK. The Neo Geo X was made by Tommo. I don’t know about the other junk.

It seems pathetic, and it is, but consider that until Sega made the Genesis Mini with M2 they had put their name on probably a dozen shitty little mini systems that weren’t worth the £ it took to win them out of the catcher machine.
