I am very dubious of women in 'nerd culture'.

I don't think she's a real nerd, but she has immersed herself in nerd culture. That's all she needs to do to get the community's attention.
There are plenty of women now trying to follow in her shoes. I'm sure it's a lucrative market.

I've seen plenty of Jessica's photo's online but never saw her in person. I saw Yaya Han at the Capcom Fight Club in New York dressed as Felicia from Darkstalkers. You could tell looking at her that her whole body was altered. The worst was hearing what Yaya said on that shitty "Heroes of Cosplay" show on Sci-Fi channel when she said that Jessica Nigri's costume's focus too much on her breasts... Pot calling the kettle black? Only other "famous" cosplayer I bumped into was Vampy at the New York Comic Con and she was dressed up as Jun the Swan from Gatchaman. I completed her on her costume and she thanked me. Sucked that Mariedoll was there..dressed in her Velma costume and I didn't see her...boo-urns.

You guys are right. After watching some more of her videos and people sending her so much shit, now I don't care for her anymore. Not only that, her personality is forced too. I'm just going to walk away from this one for sure.

Since I'm tying a few drinks on, and recently saw her Charizard costume (Pokemon Playhouse she's calling it), wondering what the members think of her on the forum? Is she a true nerd? Attention whore? Anything!

I don't think she's an attention whore. She's just someone who is trying to make a name for herself as some sort of cosplay model (so I guess there's money in that). There's probably a touch of "nerd" or whatever in her or she wouldn't have wanted to get into cosplay in the first place, but she's a model or whatever first and foremost and the cosplay thing is just a vehicle. Girls who "infiltrate" the gaming community often play up the nerd-girl image to make themselves seem more attainable and like even more of a dream girl to gamer guys, even more so when their motive is to make a career for themselves as she appears to be doing.

They like to talk up their craft as an artform, and perhaps there's truth to that, but they're doing it for attention. It's why most people dress up like fictional characters and go to geek oriented conventions. Whether it's to walk around and have their picture taken or if they're competing for some big prize, they want others to notice them.

Jessica Nigri is just a smart pitchwoman that's found a measure of fame and success doing what many of the others don't do. I've heard all the criticisms; that she oesn't care about the hobbies, that she doesn't make her own costumes, that she's just a vapid booth babe, blah blah blah.

She is doing this so you can look at her and be amazed by how hot she is dressed up as characters we wished we could have fucked when we were 14 year old boys. This is a type of psychological condition many people, probably even more than a few at this site, still have at least the hint of a hankering for.

And I'd definitely hit it. Real, fake, so what? If I grab it and it's in my hands, it's real enough.
