I gave up on Masterpiece and 3rd-party MP-style figures when prices got stupid. The Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom/SS86 figures are pretty good for mainline figures these days for a fraction of the price.

Guys and gals...I think Megatron is going to be a leetle upset with me.
IMG_20211028_110538003~4.jpg
He specifically ordered me NOT to buy a bootleg Chinese G1 Devastator (er, Mecha of Steel, Guardian of the Shield, totally not copyright infringement) building set, but, Starscream egged me on, and even offered to put it on the Seekers' credit chip, so...I went ahead and did it anyway.

This "Devastator" has AUTOBOT decals...maybe he defected? 😭😂

Also, please don't tell Megatron that the individual Constructicons don't even have robot modes...

70017 "6-in-1 Mecha of Steel: Guardian of the Heavy Shield" (725+ pieces, ages 6+)

Sure he is. Every G1 Transformers fan instantly recognizes his true identity: Devastator!
IMG_20211108_180135840~3.jpg
This is a moderately difficult, and very time consuming, build (12 bags of bricks). The LEGO-compatible pieces are pretty good quality; most fit/hold tightly. No missing or bad blocks either. There are a whopping 56 stickers to apply--be careful, a few of them tore on me when I removed them from the sheet! You also get an orange brick separator tool. The instructions are easy to follow.
IMG_20211108_192751431~2.jpg
The individual Constructicons DO NOT have robot modes, just vehicles (although you could certainly rebuild them as bots if you chose). Mercifully, they just snap together to make Devastator, you don't have to completely disassemble the vehicles and rebuild the robot, a design decision I applaud. Here, Long Haul is the gestalt's body and Hook, separated in 2, becomes his thighs, rather than the opposite configuration on the original toy. The robot is pretty flexible, but, the smaller ball joints aren't quite strong enough to support his weight--you can get him to stand, but, it's tricky. Instead of a gun, Devastator only has Hook's crane arm as a weapon--disappointing.

This toy isn't an ideal representation of the Decepticon combiner, but, it's still awesome to have Devastator in brick form (if there was a yellow G2 version, I'd buy that too!) I only paid $15.99+tax, a great value. I give him 4/5 green dump trucks.

Holy shit I just came back in here for the first time in a while.

M really raped this shit, huh? Top of this page to the bottom alone is an astonishing descent, and only to land atop Hell's manure.

We all reach this point in our lives: We've built cars, stores, planes, even birthday clowns, so, there's nothing left but Nazis.

Jiazhi/Shengyuan SY0107 "Marder III Ausf.H" (479+ pieces, ages 6+).

I don't have any sympathy/admiration for the German military during WWII, but, I love building block sets, regardless of the subject matter (LEGO wouldn't touch something like this with a 10-foot pole)!
FB_IMG_16389056231383963.jpg
The kit consists of a tank, 4 soldiers, rubble from a destroyed building, and a barbed wire barricade. Those items are moderately difficult to make (the tank's turret/cannon is complicated and the trickiest part). These LEGO-compatible bricks are great quality and work well. No missing pieces. 23 decals to apply. The instructions are clear & easy to follow.
FB_IMG_16389056084524402.jpg
The tank looks realistic & intimidating. The 12 wheels & treads work well together. The machine gun, antenna, and other bits are adjustable as well. There isn't any internal access/room for the soldiers nor are there any hatches (other than a sticker). The detailed turret build is somewhat fragile & comes apart easily.
FB_IMG_16389055955207853.jpg
There are 2 diorama pieces, a pulverized building corner and a barbed wire barricade. Both look great, but, the barrier doesn't stay put too well.

Four unique German soldiers are included. Each has a hat/helmet and one gets a backpack. There are also 2 sprue trees full of accessories to arm them with (guns, knives, shovels, stick grenades, etc.)

I paid $15 for this kit at YWOBB, an outstanding deal for everything you get. Some people won't like what this represents, but, it's a very well done historical toy. I give it 5/5 bullet holes.

FB_IMG_16395984097809936.jpgSembo 704301 "The Wandering Earth: Signal Gun" (425+ pieces, ages 6+). This weapon is from a 2019 Chinese sci-fi film where the people of Earth have erected a bunch of giant engines on the planet to move it away from our dying, and expanding, sun.
FB_IMG_16395985077231085.jpg
The gun is a complicated & time-consuming build. The firing mechanism is the trickiest part, but, there are other fiddly bits too. The framework is mostly Technic and then a veneer of regular bricks go over that. Said LEGO-compatible pieces are good quality and nothing was missing. The instructions are pretty good, but, some of the steps could have been clearer or showed the gun from different angles. There are 24 decals to apply--not fun.
FB_IMG_16395984444839125.jpg
It's a handsome & hefty fantasy weapon. A standard, spring-loaded missile launcher block is what's activated by the rubber-banded Technic workings when you pull the trigger. It shoots a few feet & with a fair amount of force.
FB_IMG_16395984285463136.jpg
There's also a separate bullet rack to store the 7 included projectiles in, which is cool.
FB_IMG_16395984541254222.jpg
An excellent Captain Wang Lei mini figure is part of the set. He's armed with a pistol (it looks different than the big gun though) and Lei's wearing a helmet & backpack (you also get an alternate hair piece for him). He has a fancy rotating disc stand for display purposes.

This is a really nice 1:1 scale gun & figure set that I got for just $12 at YWOBB. The Technic beams and pegs on the model could have been hidden more, but, that's nitpicking. I give this kit 5/5 trickshots!
