nope, no 2.0 Blu Ray and no way to upgrade either. and yea the remote does suck. You'll have to wait another 4-5 months before you'll see a player with 2.0 and 5.1 audio.

blu-ray is dropping the ball in many ways

the first stand-alone player with 2.0 is the panasonic dmp bd-50 and it was just released for the bargain basement price of seven hundred fucking dollars - blu-ray is going on 2 years old, right? wtf?

the triple is the least ridiculous option, and if you don't want a triple nerding up your movie room then you're basically fucked

but blu-ray won, and now we're stuck with it

It was really, the best and most sustainable product.

From a technical standpoint, it's undoubtedly better.

As far as longevity goes, only time will tell, but the current market model isn't exactly a slam dunk for the average consumer.

Somebody needs to step up with some cheaper stand alone players.

thanks, can't see to find a picture of the back/confirm it has analog 5.1 in. $500 is a bit much, but that thing looks insane

I wouldn't recommend it if it didn't actually have 5.1 analogue outputs, but if you have to see a picture, you can find the manual here, in any other language than English, oddly enough. A few pages into the manual there are multiple pictures of the back of the machine.
